  1. Do your keel weighted EWG hooks not have a twist lock on them?
  2. I know some guys that fish online tournament through a website. Seem to like it ok. I've never tried it though.
  3. Way2slow nailed it. (surprise surprise). We had a 18' starcraft fish/ski with a 85hp merc growing up. Ideal location was one hold under level. That was the best location to hit both hole-shot and top end speed. Crazy how much the 3/4" adjustments can mess with either of them.
  4. Agree with 00 mod, but if you do go glass, no doubt I'd go with a statos. Buddy got a practically new stratos (2 years old but virtually no hours on it) for a little over $17k.
  5. Try the booyah poppin pad crasher. Killer bait, I trim the legs down to where they are only about an inch long. If I'm fishing it over sloppy stuff I'll push a rattle up the water pee hole aslo
  6. I use 4/0 for horny toads but stepped up to 5/0 for rage toads. They are a thick bait with a tougher consistency than horny toads. You'll want every bit of that 5/0 to drive it home.
  7. 41lbs of fish in 30 minutes I wouldn't need to catch a "giant". Great trip!
  8. Stylin'!!! When you are holding a beautiful peacock it doesn't matter what's behind it. Lol
  9. Ill give the switchback xt and drenaline their props. Great bows.
  10. 7' medium heavy rod: I use a h20 ethos and a Berkley Lightening 7:3 reel: I use a abu garcia orra 50lb Power pro super slick. This will throw and work the little frogs, as well as the bigger ones.
  11. You can get a lot of use out of a $100 rod and abu pro-max. Nothing wrong with that combo at all. If you really want a cheap set up (but still works great) Go to Academy Sports and get a H20 Ethos rod (Can get them on sale for $40, and a H20 Mettle reel. Can get them on sale for $30-$40. Fantastic combo for spinner baits, bladed jigs, etc.
  12. All the new PSE bows are amazing and extremely competitive with prices. If you are a mathews nut (Some call it a sickness, I personally think it's a mental thing) look at Mission Bows. It is owned by Mathews to compete with PSE, Bowtech, Redhead, etc. I demoed the Mission Ballistic for a year for a local store. Bow was freaking amazing. Fast as hell (345 fps), very short, and could be purchased bare bow for $400.
  13. Good luck buddy. The fact he is considering is a good thing!
  14. One of the most important things to take with you is the proper attitude, especially if a co-angler.
  15. People all to often think that the bank is doing them a favor. You've got to understand that you are a customer and they need to compete for your business/money.
  16. Buddy went last night and caught a 5.9 on a spinnerbait.
  17. Hello from a fellow Kansas fisherman. What part of the state do you live/fish?
  18. Good call, as I said in a similar post, my wife watched a friend be struck by lightening during a soccer game in her teenage years. It's never left her. Nothing is worth that.
  19. Is that Irene's voice in the distance???
  20. Go weightless with a senko or fluke, or nail weight them. Stay back and send then skipping under the dock on spinning gear with 8# fluoro. Game over
  21. For our lakes it would be a football jig
  22. It's whatever is comfortable to you. I've seen people do it both ways.
  23. Most fish I've seen like that live in brush/rocks. I assume it's from the environment it lives. I read an article one that said bass will fan rocks and other cover to stir up forage such as craws. Don't know if it's true, but I'm sticking with it.
  24. Most of our lakes around here a 3-4lb fish is good, 5-6 is great, but up to 9 is possible. Numbers depends on location. I'd rather fish all day for a 5lb+ fish versus 50 dinks. Any body of water I fish is be disappointed if I didn't land 10+ fish per couple hours.
  25. I don't think it matters at all. I go with something that is easy to see for me, like francho said.
