  1. Yup yup, Another Doc-Drew custom painted jerkbait!
  2. I think you were dealing with the exception... not the rule. Fluke crap happens sometimes. (take our 123lb flathead kansas record caught on an ultra light and 4lb test. Believe me when I tell you that a flathead can and will make undersized tackle look like a wet noodle if it wants too, no different than that shark could have popped that line in a heart beat.
  3. Wow... that's terrible. Prayers out to the family. Why did he not have a camera-man/ marshal or whatever in his boat since it was the top 10 day?
  4. It's a combination of matching styles/colors etc, and sometimes you just poke and hope. I've bought some expensive duds, and I've also bought some expensive fish catching machines. Same vise versa though, cheap duds and cheap fish producers. I don't feel so bad spending a lot on a hard bait knowing that I can make it last (if I like it) or trade it off (if I don't like it). That bait monkey is one feisty fella!
  5. I think we are all there. I have lots of plastics for different styles, techniques, conditions etc. To go even further, I usually have multiple colors of the each. I like to experiment with new things that come out, but to be honest. I could probably pick 5 plastics in 2 or 3 colors each that would do the job in any condition. But what fun is that?
  6. Congrats. The fever will only worsen from here! Guess you can't call yourself bankguy anymore!
  7. As stated above, If you keep them stored out of the elements they will last a very long time. I keep my stash of certain stocked up baits in a plastic stoway in the bottom of my closet. I've had some of the stuff for years. Both zoom and yum products.
  8. You can typically find a 1982-89 18' champion with a 150 hp on it for around $3-6k. Super dependable boat, the old 150 merc black max that came on a lot of them was a great motor. If you look hard enough you will find one that has been taken care of and will last you years and years until you are really ready to upgrade and have a better understanding of what you "want" and what you "need". ( yes... there is a huge difference!) Good luck on the hunt.
  9. If anyone tries that out let me know the results. For $80 I don't think you can get hurt though.
  10. pretty good idea for $5 bucks worth of material. However, I can't let my wife see this, because then she will justify dragging me to Michaels more than she already does.... I'm pretty sure I should own one of those stores by now.
  11. Couldn't agree more. Some of our best tournament nights have come with my budding flipping water willows, and me pitching a frog into little openings in the willows. Some of them no bigger than a cup lid. I don't know that you can get any more of a violent explosion than that.
  12. You can't go wrong with Yum and Berkley craws. I'd load up....FO SHO!!!!
  13. KVD Bitsy tube was crushing them as well.
  14. One particular point produced 3 I think. Never seen so many drum fly
  15. I enjoy playing basketball and LOVE NCAA basketball. You can keep the NBA though. Shockers baby!
  16. Good looking fish guys. We smacked the drum as well!
  17. Hehe, ask what happens on a good hookset... Lol
  18. I don't understand why so many are still skeptical after all the proven reports on here. If 99 out of 100 people say the sky is blue, I'm going with that.
  19. I'm pretty good about keeping sunscreen on. I use lotion at home before going out and then keep spray with me to re-apply during the day. Buddy and I have spent the last two Thursday's fishing all day. (literally getting on water at 5:00 AM and off at 9:30 PM.) We both use this method and haven't had a single problem, wearing shorts, t shirt, no shoes. Only "protective" clothing we wear is a hoorag. Whether it be protective clothing or sun screen, take the time to do it. My grandmother was a nurse and hearing about all the old farmers with melanoma was enough to drive that lesson home. This was the worst sunburn I've ever had and by far the most painful. I couldn't hardly sleep at night, showering was nearly impossible. I'd practically tear someones head off if they bumped it. Never again boys...
  20. I always make sure I leave a little extra length on the tag line with braid.
  21. Bone creek, state pits by scammon and west mineral, fort Scott lake. Elsmore. All solid fishing
  22. As long as your boater is moving slower it will be. It won't be successful if he is power fishing burning down the bank.
  23. Wow man! Wishing you a fast recovery!
