  1. They are killer on a bladed jig. Had a buddy use one for probably a solid 2 months on his bladed jig. (FYI... he throws a bladed jig a ton, catches a lot of fish on them, and probably fishes 3-4 times a week.) Blue... feel free to chime in.
  2. Do it! They are a freaking blast that's for sure.
  3. Top one is a football jig- I fish this one in rocks, slowly dragging the bottom Next one is a swim jig- self explanatory Next is a round ball/finesse jig/spider jig (name depends on where you are) Next is a Arkie jig/brush jig/ flipping jig- I like probing brush piles and flipping trees with it. Bottom is a casting Jig/ Darter jig. Hope this helps.
  4. Fish a brush jig in rocks for a day... You'll figure out little differences make a HUGE difference in particular situations. (After you get done cussing that is)
  5. Lol. Good luck. I may just stick with the fish off. She already knows about that one.
  6. I'd make sure that you find a place to stay that is close to where you are fishing. The last 5 fall BBB's have had a wicked cold front come through (like freezing temps) either the day of, or the day before. 2 years ago I pre-fished Thursday in shorts and a long sleeve. Fished the tournament in thermals, jeans, long sleeve, hoodie, bibs, winter coat, ski mask, hoo rag and gloves. It was bad. Anyways, I say stay by where you will be fishing because obviously you don't have to worry about getting to weigh in if you don't catch one. Worry about catching your toad, then worry about getting it to weigh in. I may be down there myself this fall. Haven't decided yet.... or should I say I haven't had the courage to ask the warden yet....
  7. Like these guys are saying, I'd go 18+ with a 150+. I understand your limit on storage though. I would prefer the nitro, but I'm a big nitro fan. It's basically going to come down to a personal preference for you between the two. As far as functionality, they are going to pretty similar. I will say that I owned a 17' nitro with a 115 on it and fished LOZ on ROUGH water. It was seriously idiotic to be out there in any bass boat, let alone a 17' one. I was very impressed how it handled the waves, and ran through the chop. Fished under the same condition during big bass bash last fall in a triton 186 with a 150 on it. My kidneys hurt so freaking bad from getting slammed around that I don't care to ever take another one out. Good luck on the hunt man. It's fun, and sucks at the same time.
  8. I'm gonna go with no.
  9. Welcome man! Jump over to the central thread and check out the KC area thread!
  10. I fish top waters anytime the the bite is on because of the rush you get on those blowups. If you can't catch a fish on some form of topwater, you aren't fishing them in the right places or time. I'm not sure which is more exciting, a largemouth crushing a hollow body in the pads/willows/mats, or a smallmouth just releasing the beast on a spook on a shallow flat. Man I love it all!
  11. Yup. This, the State Trooper, all the Ferguson ridiculousness.... I don't want to live on this planet anymore.... Can somebody please find fishable water on another planet!
  12. Lil' Nasty Jig. Man! That hook looks mean as heck!!!!
  13. I'd count it. You don't just drag an A rig into a big bass. They swipe at it and miss or come unbuttoned while getting stuck with another hook. I look at this the same as jerkbait fish. I have fish that will throw the hook in the mouth, but can't throw throw the one in their side. Good catch.
  14. Yah, It's really a grey area. I can see it from where you are coming from, but I can also see it from their business perspective of simply censoring the name so it can't be typed as "protecting" their members. That way people can't troll to steal members, thus making paying advertisers loose potential "clicks" from this website. To put it in perspective, planet fitness, golds gym, and community centers all try to "secret shop" and promote their services and such within our facility (A Non-Profit). Wish we could sensor censor them as well! Dirty rotten trolls! lol.
  15. Sadly, that doesn't surprise me... Guess I don't understand the point in getting married if you just want to pass it around. Gross
  16. It is the nature of the internet, which is usually why most sites suck. I see your point, and agree, they have some good stuff on their site, but I wouldn't expect to see a "competitor" site freely displayed on this one. Would kind of be like Garmin putting tom tom, hummingbird etc on their site.
  17. Agree. Don't forget to change the hooks. Bone color kills it
  18. Not that I really have a dog in this fight but after all the diagrams and buying 4 batteries and hoping it would work, couldn't you just buy a 36V TM and probably make that work? Seems like that would be a more permanent solution. IMO
  19. I don't even have a guess for you buddy. I always think it's tough to judge a fish in a photo like that. Stud of a fish for sure. I'd say if your PB thing is still accurate, she comes real close to bumping you up a notch.
  20. It was pretty amazing to see them unleash the beast on it. Melvern smallies are so mad all the time! Reminds me of the wife... with the small exception that smallies will still play when they are mad
  21. Good looking fish. Congrats on the PB
