  1. +1. Their house brand plastics are pretty decent for the price. I would definitely check out their 7" and 10" ribbon tail worms this time of year.
  2. Depends on what techniques you use/plan to use these combos for.
  3. Spro. Scum frogs aren't terrible but the are more difficult to walk.
  4. I have some 6/0 Trokars I like to use. You can always thread the worm so that it is up the line a little so you can put the hook point closer to the egg sack too.
  5. I like to keep it simple-ish when it comes to frog color. Black, white, yellow, a frog color, and a bluegill color. In both popping and traditional. Fish can see the sides of the frog, especially when you pause it.
  6. I don't necessarily catch more fish around a full moon but I do seem to catch bigger fish on average. I don't keep a fishing log though. So whether this is just coincidence or not, I can't prove.
  7. My experience has been the opposite. I get much better service from Cabelas than at Bass Pro. I think it just depends on the location. I prefer Cabelas' house brand rods, line, and some of their reels over the same Bass Pro house brand items. I do wonder how this buyout will affect their house brand stuff. Another question I thought of early on in this buyout process was that perhaps Bass Pro may re-brand/re-focus the two stores. With the buyout of Cabelas, I wonder if they will shift Bass Pro to strictly a fishing focus; where it made it's bones early on before expanding into hunting. Likewise, I wonder if they will shift Cabelas to strictly a hunting focus; which is how they originated. Either way, less competion in the market is never a good thing. The consumer will suffer. Hopefully online tackle companies such as tackle warehouse can provide enough competition to at least keep them honest.
  8. Thanks for the heads-up. I will have to kerp an eye on this. I have the 45 on my small boat and I step on the momentary button, is on the 5th speed, and its pointed left or right; I have to watch my balance to say the least. If what you described would happen, I would likely be swimming, lol.
  9. I like Strike King cranks. They have good action and they flat-out catch fish for me. Plus they are fairly inexpensive when compared to others. War Eagle spinnerbaits work well for me. Booyah are a little cheaper though. If you mean hard jerkbaits, Rapala are fairly inexpensive comparatively. Their new Shadow Raps look intriguing. I haven't fished them though, so I'm not sure if they are hype or real. In any case as far as colors, match the forage of the lake you are fishing. Or water condition if murky.
  10. Tough to tell by the pictures but I would guess 23 lbs- at least! Probably a new world record.
  11. I keep misreading the title of this post every time and think it says "Twerking flukes and a missed opportunity" for a split second and I chuckle to myself each time. Maybe if one were to wacky rig it, it would twerk. Talk about a bait with action....
  12. A lot of it will depend on the depth you are fishing and wind. I like to use 1/4 oz as a general weight and go up or down in weight depending on conditions. Get yourself some 3/16 oz, 3/8 oz, and 5/16 oz and you will have your bases covered.
  13. If it were me, anything on top of the water would get mono leader. Anything below the water; fluoro. Anything in grass; straight braid.
  14. This. Also if still not bit, use a follow up bait to see if the fish will strike it instead.
  15. I have tried many different monos but I keep finding my way back to Big Game. Cheap, durable, great knot strength, and not bad memory (especially when used with line conditioner). Tough to beat.
  16. Another vote for changing the line. Another thing would be to try some line conditioner. It helps quite a bit.
  17. What techniques will you be using this set-up for?
  18. Lol, didn't mean to lecture. Was just saying. Especially if one has a history of things accidentally breaking, sooner or later you need to look yourself in the mirror.
  19. It sounds like the location you were fishing first with the weighless craw didn't have any active fish. The next area did. Its not really a question of lure as it was location.
  20. Another vote for the Lews LFS. Tough to go wrong with Lews. All their reels seem to cast a mile and are very reliable.
  21. That's interesting. I might have to try your suggestion. Do you set the hook right when the bass takes it under? I know from an article I read a few years ago that Dean Rojas also sets the hook right away. One thing that I have found is that bass often will slap at the frog and take it under. I find this to happen more often on two very highly pressured local lakes that I fish. It is like they take it under to see how the "frog" reacts because they are weary from all the other anglers that hit these lakes- many with frogs. I never feel their weight, but maybe they have it in their mouth after all.
  22. Dang, that thing is a tank! Very nice.
