Problem with BPS reel side cover
Hey. Not sure if you already did this, but you have to push the button in and twist clockwise(front of reel down towards the pole), then it will come off.

Do you use baitcast or spinning reels, and for what lures??
Casting: Spinning: Swimbaits soft plastics including jerkbaits Spinnerbaits crankbaits Jigs Frogs I basically make my decision based on the weight of the lure. I feel like I can get a better hook set with baitcasters, but I like to fight fish on spinning reels better. Dont know why.........I'm sure it all comes down to personal preference

Are bass viviparous?
wrong again. hehe. Bass are oviparous. Trust me(fisheries science major at Texas A&M). Just for more info oviparous=lays eggs ovoviviparous=produce eggs which hatch within the body viviparous=produce live offspring

Hi-Vis Yellow Braid
I use this on my casting setup only. Right now I have 10lb suffix braid with 10 mono leader. I use mono just because I have some left from my baitcasters. Doesn't make a huge difference. The reason I use both the same lb. test is because doing this makes the end with the mono/fluoro is a lot heavier compared to the braid. This makes casting a breeze! I can cast very far and very accurate with a little flip of the rod. I use to blood knot to attach the lines. Its never failed me yet!

Hi-Vis Yellow Braid
HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! Switched last year and I love it! Never had any breaks since I swtiched. I use about 6ft of leader. Not sure if you're supposed to use that much, but it doesn't have an affect on my cast, so thats what I do. Good luck

Pricey rods vs. $40 rods?? Differences
Just wondering what advantage is in the pricier rods. Sensitivty, weight, strength, casting??? I've always used BPS GS Series rods($40)....so i dont really know about the advantages of the $100+ rods. Im sure there has to be some reason they are better

For you spoon guys
Same here. After seeing what Kelly Jordan did( I think around 15lb in 4 min or something like that) I think they might have to find a place in my tackle box!

You might be a Fishaholic if...
You cant get to sleep because you're too busy thinking about what setup you're goin to use the next day

Under what conditions would you KEEP a bass?
Catt....you are absolutely correct!! I dont know about everyone else, but I get really excited when I catch a "larger than average" bass. If nobody kept any bass, this would never happen!! I hate eating fish...have hated it sense birth, but you have to look at the big picture. If fish are overpopulating a body of water, they will soon start to fight for resources...therefore, the average size of the fish will greatly decrease within a few years. I think that selective harvesting is correct.........when done properly!!

Why the Negativity?
Sounds like it getting pretty serious around here! Anyways, figured I throw my piece in here. The three times I have used the storm wildeye swimbaits, I got bit on the first casts. They may be cheap, but they have caught me some big fish! Thats the beauty of fishing.....never know exactly what they want. Gotta love it either way

Topwater Question
Kind of off topic, but if you really want to stay with your favorite top water this could be another option. Last year I tried putting 10lb braid with 8lb mono as a leader. I dont know if I will ever go back to the original (all mono) way!! I love this setup.....on my spinning tackle of course. The mono is a lot heavier than the thin braid, so the mono almost pulls the line out with the lure. I can cast any lure half a mile, and I have never had problem with knots slipping or breaking. Another thing I love about it is the fact that I use high vis. braid.....This is an awesome setup for soft plastics too.

Hooking into a Bass ... What's Your Phrase?
MUDDY MAN ........I like your style. Ha! The funny thing about that is that even if I do set the hook and realize that I had weeds my response to my buddy is always " Oh man, just missed a biggun!" Gotta love it

Sufix
Im backing everyone else when i say USE SEIGE! Best mono EVER! Unless you are fishing open water all of the time( guessing this isnt the case since you are fishing for bass) I would always use seige. Dont think you are losing castability with seige. I have it on all of my reels, and it has never let me down.

Hook Sets With Weedless Jigs?
Thanks for all the advice. I have trimmed the guard down, but i didnt think about slimming it down. I think that will probably help a lot. The fish I was catching were nothing more then a pound, so maybe I was just feeling little fish playing with it. Thanks again

Hook Sets With Weedless Jigs?
When I set the hook....you know it! I used a jig and pig setup for the first time today and missed my first 3 bites. I decided that maybe a wasn't waiting long enough, so on the next bite I waited until I saw the line streaming across the water. I set the hook..........nothing! I had to change something, so instead of setiing the hook I just reeled in as fast as I could. I didnt miss a bite after I started doing this. The only thing I could think was that the weed guard was causing the missed fish when I did a quick hook set. I guess what Im asking is if this is normal. Am I supposed to set the hook hard like I usually do, or do I just reel in quick?

Bass location when the water turns warm?
I usually go back to my old faithful....Booya Spinner. I just like usings these because they make it so easy to change depths on the return.

Seeing bass but not catching them
I've had the same problem the last couple weeks. I would recomend using the YUM crawbug. Work it really slow, and you dont necesarily have to bring it right past there face. I've found that they actually go after it more often when you work it a couple yards away from them.
