    2.59 here in southern NH
  2. Hahaha nice one SB
  3. My Dad was diadgnosed with the disease about 18 months ago. He has his good days and bad days. He is still very much functional, still drives (only locally). However I can see the troubles he has at expressing himself, finding the words he is looking for happens frequently. I find myself finnishing his thoughts when he is struggling to find the words. I can't mutlitask like I normally would around him when we are talking. I have to give him my complete attention to sift through mispokken words and to understand his thoughts. I am not looking forward to the path we are heading down.
  4. Granted it's his fish and his choice. Having said that I feel this was extremely selfish of him to have kept the fish. That is a fish you want to keep spawning for as long as possible. If he is so dedicated as a fisherman as he says, it should have been released back into the water. Take all the pictures, weight it on as many scales as you want, but get a replica mount and release the fish, to spawn again. Just my opinion, the fish in my avatar went 7lbs 11oz, went right back into the pond after the picture. He caught it, and its his choice in the end.
  5. Might need some extra support...
  6. If I find that the bite and conditions are tough. I switch up and throw a small finesse tube on a jig head on 8-10lb fluorocarbon. I hope that helps.
  7. Any chance any of you local guys possibly selling a 24 volt trolling motor? I maybe in the market for a newer one as mine is currently being tested to see if it is worth fixing.
  8. I was wondering if anyone had a recipe for an alewife pattern by any chance?
  9. You sir, are brilliant in your selection.
  10. I have been going to Lake Champlain, and started to fish for Northern Pike. I use AFW Surflon Micro Supreme Wire for my leader material, in either 13lb or 20lb sizes depending on lure size, in camo color. They can be found here. My PB Pike on this wire is 31" 8.5lbs. This is knotable wire as in you can tie on swivels and snaps. I have caught smallmouth on this wire and we all know how finiky, and line shy they can be. I use it with Spro Power Swivels size 10 (35lb) which can be found here. I use Berkley Cross-Lok Snaps in size 1 (30lb) for the snaps which can be found here. My leaders generally run from 12-18". The main line I use is PowerPro Braid 15lb in black. I hope this helps. Tight lines.
  11. x2 Thanks, for the chuckle.
  12. Well I went and managed to score my new PB Northern Pike. Pike's measurements were 32.5" long and weighted 8.5lbs, was released quickly after the photo was taken. If you have this species of fish near you I highly suggest you give them a target from time to time. They hit like a runaway freighttrain.
  13. They actually never leave my boat. I cover it with a cover, but they dont leave my boat.
  14. Has anyone else had this problem? I have 2 slow sink Spro BBZ 1 swimbaits one in Perch the other in Rainbow Trout. What I have noticed is that the plastic on these baits is deforming-warping. I have some Lucky Craft baits that are doing this as well. Does anyone else have this problem? Is it because they are getting to hot? I am putting them away wet? I am more than upset that these baits all of them costing more than $10 a piece are deformed and some of them are not going to work as they should. I will post some pictures to show you what I mean, when I get home.
  15. NH isnt known for Pike. The chemistry of the water does not match well with them. Maine has some lakes that hold them. Lake Champlain has a great population of Pike if you can get out that way.
  16. Hi Matt, While I am no expert, having started surf fishing last summer, I will tell you its all about time on the water. No, one lure is going to do it all, you need lures to cover certain situations. Having said that and also not knowing what kind of area you are planning on fishing. I would start off with some tins, Deadly Dicks are a good start, always keep some bucktail jigs on hand, soft plastics like a sluggo or baitfish/eel imittation, plugs there are so many to choose from keep it simple top water and some jerk baits. Dont go crazy and be prepared that any lure you buy, you will eventually lose. I dont know what the rules are for posting different fishing forums and blogs here. Since this is mainly a freshwater fishing forum, I will just leave it that if you want the sites, I can PM you them. I hope this helps. Like I said I only started last year so I am still learning.
  17. I have been going to NBS for almost 20 years now. Gary and Sandy have always taken care of me, and have gone above and beyond what any big box tackle store would do for their customers. I have not been going there as often as I would like because, well I have not been able to get out as much as I would like. I would urge fellow fishermen in the state to check them out and give them a try, support your local businesses. They are always helpful and will give you some tips to put some extra fish in the boat. I am not affliated with them in anyway, just a happy customer looking to support local businesses. Take care and tight lines.
  18. I was out on Cobbets yesterday, we did really well. I was wondering Deak were you out on Cobbets on Saturday morning?
  19. As always FishChris, you take some great shots and have a good eye. I always enjoy your pictures, thanks for sharing.

Yeah, Roadwarrior they make some great pits. I have the 18.5inch WSm and also the larger 22.5 WSM. I really like the ease of use, I also sprung for an automatic temperature control device. You can certainly make some great BBq off of the WSMs.

I make my own bbq sauce, rib rub, poultry rub, and yes butt rub. I have 2 smokers and 2 charcoal grills. I have found, that the bbq up here in New England I get at restaurants, is subpar. I would rather just make my own. I now, no longer get ribs, pulled pork, and pulled chicken when I go out for dinner. If I do I'm usually disappointed. 6 pork butts trimmed and ready to get seasoned and go on the smoker. 3 butts on the bottom grate all seasoned and rubbed down. Top grate on, temperature probes in, all 6 butts ready to get kissed by some apple smoke. Pork pulled and seasoned, and yummy! This cook was 6 butts, average weight was 8lbs, after trimming them up it was closer to 7lb average that went on the smoker. I had 42lbs on the smoker to start, ended up 18hrs later with 24lbs of yummy pulled pork goodness.
  22. Great story, and 2 great fish, thanks for sharing.
  23. I have heard some differing opinions on this topic, so I was wondering what you all thought on the subject. Now I hope we can all keep this thread civil, on track, and not political.
  24. Raider, I'm going to go out on a limb here and say don't worry about it, you won't blend.
  25. I am looking for a local rod builder in Southern NH or Northern Ma, I have a MH 7ft Spinning rod that has a Tennessee handle and I'd like to switch it out to a standard handle design. The Tennessee handle design on this rod is just way out of balance and extremely tip heavy. Thanks...
