  1. Excited about this for musky.
  2. Jig or squarebill for me anywhere there is wood of rocks.
  3. Texas rigged baits usually yield more catches In my expierence. You gotta remember a jigs skirts flare out and present a much larger profile then say a t-rigged rage craw. Becasue of that I feel a jig can intimadate smaller fish, but I have coufht plenty of dinks on jigs. That's just my .02!
  4. Only rods I'll use, but I like a stiffer Rod you might not. There not for everyone.
  5. Since you say you have two 7:1:1 gear ratio reels I assume jigs, worms and that things of that nature? I'd say 15-20lb fluro depending on the density of fhe cover you will be fishing. If it's real thick grass go braid it's ability to come through grass is great. Lets us know more about the lures you will be using and spots you will be fishing to give a defiant answer.
  6. Thanks Paul I'll have to try that.
  7. And remember a 5:2:1 on a spinning reel is different then 5:2:1 in a casting reel.
  8. I use a 6'9" ml veritas 2.0. It's really more like a medium then a medium light, and a pflueger purist. What you have would work great, make sure you like those techniques before you drop a lot into a new setup. I would recommend a setup like mine I really like it I got it for $150.
  9. I'm looking to get down to cedar creek and try it. I'm in eastern ky.
  10. Slither rig? Is there something I don't know?!?!?
  11. Finesse is techniques requiring light lines and lures. So yes a spinning setup would be my answer. It can be done with casting gear but could be a major headache. I see you mention senkos I fish those on 15-20lb fluro in thick stuff I don't really consider them finesse, more of a I need fish bait. If you wanna get into finesse consider light drop shot, shaky heads, and things of that nature. Also a weightless trick worm/bottom hopper is deadly I throw that on my "finesse" setup.
  12. I thought of a way I'm going to mount it, but I have one more question. I'm gonna make a cover for it becasue it's pretty large, and I was wandering if it's ok if I cover the whole transducer? Of course leaving the bottom completely uncovered though.
  13. Hey guys I just got a raymarine dragonfly 5 and I'm wanting to mount it up front. But there is one small problem a tm mount is $130, and I'm not about to pay that much. Looking for ideas on a homemade mount. I'm sure it won't be hard to come up with somethubg but I'm not crafty. Was thinking something with pvc?
  14. Get him some wax worms, bobbors, and an ultralight and let him go to work. Have a good time and becareful I'm sure he will love it.
  15. I agree with ww2farmer ill take them if you don't wabt them. There not a bad little reel at all, are they the best? No, but for the price you can find them on eBay for it's crazy not to try them. They may not last over a season if you fish hard but for $30 that's ok.
  16. Burn and rip them through grass make sure to vary your retrieve seems to help.
  17. I'm waiting on that new Abu Ike Rod to come out.
  18. There getting closer to $100! For now I'll day dream.
  19. I plan on being jeloaus if everyone getting PQ's for cheap. My closest bps is 4 hours.
  20. Pretty sure I pay $20 for ky, the lake I fosh don't charfe no fees so that's about it.
  21. I'll go ahead and tell you cause I know someone else will. Get you some stick baits and go from there. They usually provide a lot of action, bass big or small will hit them and probably the easiest lure to learn. Well besides somethubg you just straight retrieve. Oh yea I throw these weightless on a 3/0 EWG hook. Be prepared to spend alit of money it's addicting.
  22. Get you some Norman fat boys (red ear is my faviorte color) and bang them suckers through some wood and rocks and hold on.

I never see no one talk about casting a jig or t rig no more. Seems like everyone these days just talk about flipping, but I cast 75% of the time what about you?
  24. I agree with this very strongly.
