It's great you guys got together.....I'll look for even better posts now that you two have met!!! The best thing is that Avid is a Yankee fan like me! Hey Muddy...when you gonna get some class...
  3. The Daiwa Sol is intended for lighter applications. Cabelas currently has them on sale in their bargain basement for $199 (regular price is $229)
  4. Thanks all for the kind words to make this mook feel better! Deb.....it's 175HP....have a good time in Nashville, I'll pass you on the highway heading back up to KY Ronnie....you have an open invitation to come on down and fish with me anytime (at your own risk of course!).
  5. Hey Tipp.....you got some really good advice from the heart of one great guy...Like LBH I know him too......Muddy has been there done that, he now helps young people every day....that is his profession.....I would listen strongly to what he says
  6. Well Done! Enjoy college.....best time of your life!
  7. All will be quiet this weekend.....parts won't be in to fix the trolling motor til next week. Guess I'll be fishin off the dock. And Deb.....I'm not worried about a tatoo cause everyone knows you can't tatoo a squirrel!!!! Might wanna think about bringing the camera the next weekend to Barkley as the saga will continue!! ;D BTW.....heres a pic of the boat
  8. He may be Joe Torre's replacement!
  9. If you're going to spend the money for an Avid, look at Powell rods for the same price. (http://powellco.com/) For the same money as an Avid, you get a rod that can compete in quality with rods over $200, IMO. I own both Avids and Powells and the Powell is the lighter, more sensitive rod, by far. BTW, I'm just an average recreational angler and I'm not sponsored by Powell, or anyone for that matter. I rave about these rods because their quality is exceptional but their price is mid-range. I agree with Senile1 100% I am a big fan of the Avid but have recently purchased a Powell. It has become my favorite rod!
  10. Well folks I'm just hoping to have a fishing day where nothing happens to the boat! Here is chapter two of a Mooks episodes on the lake with his new boat: Started out fine, we headed down Lake Barkley to the state line to do some TN topwater fishin....me and my buddy both put on a nice backlash on our first casts, should have been an ***. He did catch a nice 4 1/2 ponder on a frog.....after that it was downhill!!!!! My buddy was showing me how to handle the boat etc.... and I promise I'm getting better....but after a few moves down the lake we get ready to go again and I'm gettin pretty confident and can't wait to drive that Skeeter again.....so we decide to move and I run back, put on the life jacket, hop in the captains seat and pound that hotfoot to the floor....only to find out I forgot to do something.....UH OH.....did ya'll know the best way to screw up a trolling motor....yep thats it, just take off full bore with that baby still sitting down in the water.....great way to bend the shaft so it won't turn any more. That was at 9:00 am....fishing day over....time for the trip to the shop.....still waiting to hear what this will cost me. Now with my boat in the shop I was fortunate enough to hook up with another fellow to fish with on Monday. His boat.....I'm just a passenger.....early afternoon we get ready to move and his motor won't fire and we're all the way across and down the lake a pretty good bit. So that pretty well turned that fishin day into a long troll across the lake. Soooo...here's my question....WHO WANTS TO GO FISHIN WITH ME??? I promise I'm not makin this up!
  11. Good luck......we all look forward to your safe return!
  12. I heard the baitmonkey is already on his way to talk to Roadwarrior and Alpster!
  13. None of those....Mr October....The Straw that stirs the drink.....My man Reggie is coming back.....or maybe if someone has seen Billy Martin running around with Elvis????.......BRING BACK THE BRONX ZOO, we need that passion again!!!!!!!!!
  14. The only shows I try to always catch are a couple local fishing / outdoor shows that air on Thursday evenings here. One is Doug and Hugh Outdoors. If you ever are going to fish or hunt in the Middle Tennessee area they have a website with all kinds of current info and reports (www.southernwoodsandwaters.com). Worth checking out if you visit the area. My all time favorite national TV show was All In The Family. Currently I like Two and a Half Men.
  15. I beleive The Boss has Cashman on the hotseat and Torre is safe for now. If this keeps up I wouldn't want to be any of them. I'm just imagining what will happen if Clements bombs out. This will be an interesting season for us Yankee fans for all the wrong reasons. This team obviously lacks the desire and intensity and needs rebuilding. There are some good young arms in the minors. I still love Jeter, Posada and Matsui. Damon has been a good addition and we'll see about Cano and Cabrera. Rivera, Mussina, Pettit are in their twilite. If I was Torre I'd feel like it was time to pass the baton. I imagine he is more tired and frustrated than anyone but has too much class to show it. Teixeira is rumored to possibly become available, I would like that addition at 1B (dreaming here).
  16. Now that you've practiced on your husband you need to nail that son of yours!! When were you goin fishing with him???
  17. Appreciate the thought and effort Norm......but you should be be really enjoying this....and I'm reasonably sure you are. How about Muddy's all time favorite Yankee A-Rod carousing the strip clubs of Toronto with a "mystery blond"......maybe he should be more concerned about a losing streak.....
  18. Well here's my story....bought my new (used) bass boat (pics to follow when developed) got it to the dealer to be checked out.....had to bring it back again for electrical problems.....all that got fixed so it was to the ramp on Memorial day weekend. Being new to this phenomenom I enlisted the help of a neighbor who is experienced in these matters. That was a wise choice. So here goes, I back up the trailer and did OK. Hopped in the boat and my neighbor drove the truck back up the ramp and I was good to go....or so I thought....started the engine and VROOOOOOOOM it runs at full throttle.....threw it in reverse and it's throwing water everywhere....the Memorial Day crowd's eyes are all bugged out and I'm now the center of attention getting all kinds of advice......so now after a few more trys with no luck we decide we gotta get the boat on the trailer using the trolling motor....we did that (almost) and drove the boat back up the ramp only to find out it's not all the way on the trailer and we can't winch it all the way on. So now I have to back it up into the water again which I did OK and winch it up the rest of the way. We get it back up the ramp and at this point I'm a celebrity with a crowd feeling sorry for me with my new boat. We now get the engine cover pulled off and everyone is checking things out. One fellow who knew his stuff went right to the throttle linkage where he found it was disconnected and thus my problem. Now here's the good part. My neighbor is racking his brain to figure out where we can get it fixed. All of a sudden he thinks of a friend of his who lives right near the ramp. He is a helicopter mechanic. Well we go visit him and in a half hour he's got the linkage reconnected, tested and ready to go! Back to the ramp we go.....get the boat put in with no problem....and the moment of truth....it started right up and ran like a purring kitten......alls well that ends well.....took me a bit to figure some things out (like getting on plane) but I now have it down and am tooling around Lake Barkley. Just need to add some experience. Some thoughts.....the folks at the ramp were great, everyone wanted to help and I really appreciated that. I am really looking forward to being part of the Western KY fishing/boating community. If it were not for folks willing to pitch in with advise and help I would have been in a world of hurt. Just thought you folks here would get a kick out of this Mooks first experience putting his boat in at the ramp.
  19. WAIT TIL NEXT YEAR......THE HARDER WE PUSH THE WORSER IT GETS!!!!
  20. Another voice for the Symetre
  21. Mom vs Son......here we go again.....I love it! I'm putting my money on Mom ;D ;D
  22. Senko = expensive plastic and salt wormlike bait that only works when fished with Shimano reels Knock Off = less expensive plastic and salt wormlike bait that only works when fished with reels other than Shimano There is this little critter who did this so we all could buy more reels and baits. I have heard that sometimes if you fish a Senko on a Loomis rod it will occasionally work if the reel is made by Daiwa. Under no circumstances will a Senko work on a Pflueger reel regardless of the rod. Most importantly do not use a Knock Off with a Shimano reel as damage may occur. I think that should explain most of it!
  23. If Muddy "The Duke of Mook" has used these for years and has not had any problems you know it's gotta be durable........you just have to understand what a mook can do to mess up equipment.......if it can survive years of Muddy it's gotta be really durable!
  24. I think 3 bad reels is really frustrating and a bummer. Flechero, I don't blame you for being upset, I know I would be. I don't know about the debate over the shipping but I sure would be questioning future purchases of the same reel. I sure hope you get this resolved as I know its really frustrating when you have to expend negative time and energy to make things right when they were not your fault. On a lighter note LBH is starting this Daiwa Posse and there are always the Phlueger Mooks :
  25. WOOOOO HOOOOOO Yanks beat Bosox.......as bad as things have been lately this felt good!
