Anyone else do this when they can't fish?
I've done all of the things you mentioned. Last winter I worked on rigging my canoe. This winter I've spent restoring and re rigging the canoe. Can't wait for spring.

Crazy good weather in RI. No ice so I put the canoe in the water to get a feel and look, this is the first time in the water since the restoration. The motor was bogging above mid throttle but the canoe was all that I expected. We rebuilt the carb a few days ago and the motor is running great now. It's been cold for a couple days so I'm not sure when I'll get out on the water again. I'll keep busy with the additions to the canoe while I wait for April weather.

2hp motor on canoe, which side?
This is a Yamaha gas motor. It pull starts easily. I figured I'd ask because the prop rotation is clockwise. Wasn't sure if it would be odd steering if I mounted it on the right side. Which I plan to do now since it doesn't seem to matter. I'll have my 30# t motor up front on the left with an extension handle which will make it a lot easier to control with a rod in my right hand.

2hp motor on canoe, which side?
I'm putting a side mount 2hp Yamaha on my canoe with a 30# t motor up front. I prefer the hand controlled t motor on my left side. I want to keep the weight balanced. I've always had my power motor on my left side. If I mount the 2hp gas motor on the right do you think it would cause steering issues? The prop turns clockwise.

Abu Garcia Rods
I've bought two of the IKE rods. Really nice workmanship. The 74-6 is a great rod for frogs, toads and flipping. The 70-5 I havent used yet, but I know I'll like it.. Should be a very versatile rod. Both are well balanced. Costs more than $100.00 though and worth it.

New Generation Of Tatula Rods?
I'd opt for the XT because of the ACS reel seat. I'm not comfortable with the Tatula. Love the rod though.

Way to go roadwarrior! That's a boat load of information. Shows your passion for our sport. Thx!

Diawa Tatula rod vs others..like Abu ect.
I have a couple of the Diawa Team rods. I like both of them. I use the 6' H for pitching under and around trees/branches and the 6'6" MH for just about anything between 1/4 and 1/2oz other than crank baits.

Check out the Tatula XT and the Abu IKE rods. Both have the Fuji ACS reel seat which I prefer.

Frog colors
My favorite is a Gambler Cane Toad. I've done very well with the Florida O color and the 49er which Gambler discontinued. I'm not happy about that at all but I'll survive. Hollow bodies, I like SPRO and Lunker Hunt best. Terminators are ok too. Popper frogs are a good choice too. I use the SPRO.

Most versatile crankin' rod
I completely agree. I'm looking for versatile cranking a rod. Not sure which I'll end up buying. I'd like to be around $100.00 so I'm patiently waiting for a sale. I like the IKE power rods, I've heard the Delay rods are like jelly. That's a turn off. Not sure if it's true. If it isn't the IKE would be high on my list.

Kayak fishing for bass.
I disagree, I like the kayaks but a canoe can certainly be outfitted for fishing and offer a lot more space and stability. I wouldn't trade my canoe for a kayak.

Kayak Anchor Wizard
I'll take a look, thx. This is a picture of an Anchor Wizard anchor shoot. I installed them on the front and rear canoe decks today.

Kayak Anchor Wizard
Did you buy the Hinky brand clothes line spools? I'm considering retractable line spools for my canoe.

Few Canoe Buying Question
That KC12 looks good, a better version of a Nucanoe. I'd like to see the company offer a wide 15'er.

Few Canoe Buying Question
There a some really nice Fishing canoes available these days. All very wide for stability and space. Do a web search. Also I highly recommend at least a 55# trolling motor and a 105 amp marine battery. You may want to check Craigslist for a nice used canoe too.

Magnesium vs Aluminium reels
I haven't noticed a difference between my Lews Mag and my Team Lite reels while casting or working any bait. I think owning the mag framed reel is more a novelty. I want two more reels, I'll buy Aluminum frames. One novelty reel is enough for me. The Lews Tournament Pro and Team Lite reels suit me just fine.

Kayak Anchor Wizard
The Anchor Wizard is a nice system. It's not bulky at all. I bought 2 of the anchor shoots for my canoe online for $26.00. I passed the the spool, too much money. I'm looking at buying 2 Worth or Attwood spools if I can install them where they will work well and not be in the way.

I never knew I was that bad......
You could always tell them to sit down, shutup and hold this spool while you rethread your reel. Just a thought?
