  1. The MB is a great reel. Best value available in today's market.
  2. Get the Lews Tournament MB and the Abu IKE 70-5 or the Villian 70-6 and don't look back.
  3. I'm big on toads, I throw a frog after a miss or blow up. The 7'6" rod would be my pic since I'm looking for one now but heavier than the 7'6" on your list. 1/4-2 would suit me. Powell is a great rod but I don't like the minimal reel seat. I'll buy another Lews Custom Lite. i use an: IKE 74-6, Lews Custom Lite Grass 7' and an Abu Villian 70-6. The Lews gets most of the toad work.
  4. I fish standing 98% of the time in my canoe.. I don't like to sit while I'm fishing. That 2% is when I'm not casting its when I'm hungry.
  5. I've been using 65# Power Pro. I dropped down to 50#. I get a little more casting distance but... I do get some line digging. Going back to 65#.
  6. I've wasted quite a bit of money trying different braids. I'll stick with Power pro.. For me its the best. It may not be for you..
  7. After buy one pair and trying them, they're on all of my "Lews" reels now. I think they're great. I like a 95mm handle too.
  8. I usually tie a Uni or Blood knot for leaders. Briad direct I tie a palomar.
  9. I want to buy this Rod for my brother. He uses all spinning rods. Looking for a 7'6" 5 power Rod for toads/frogs in cover. He'll be using an Abu SX 4000 reel with 40 pound braid. looking for a Rod on sale for $100 or so.
  10. I like the Lews Hm85 rods.. All my rods have ACS reel seats or in this case a hybrid.
  11. The Custom Speed Sticks and the Custom Lites are far from Garbage. They're outstanding rods.
  12. I love their 3D blanks but I can't stand the reel seat.. If they offered an ACS seat I'd buy a few.
  13. Abu did that for me.. had an IKE I broke. They sent me a Villian 2.0. It's fantastic!
  14. This kinda Print makes me laugh............. What a bunch of fools.
  15. You need a Magnum rod.. Get the 5 or 6
  16. No loaners on my boat... To many mishaps. Bring your own or stay home.
  17. Go handle some rods.. Only you know what's best for you.
  18. Consider a Diawa XT Rod and a Lews Tournament MB. You will be very surprised at how good this combination will work for you at a reasonable investment. i have three different rods I flip with, and three different reels for the job. Stick with 50/65 pound braid. Forget about using Flouro or Mono. Go Power Pro. Stay away from Slick 8.
  19. Is Smackdown or the Flipping Braid coated like Power Pro?
  20. I like any frog with a super collapsible body.. The hooks have to pop. The rest is up to you.
  21. You will develop a feel for your timing. Stick with it.. Every hit is different... if your going to buy a rod look at the Lews HM85 Magnum Grass. It has great casting distance and accuracy and tons of hook setting power. There's nothing like the thud from a solid set!
