  1. The Pro G2 will do all. It's a compact reel by comparison to the others two. Lighter weight makes a difference as well.
  2. Me too....... I don't like fudge moments, lol
  3. I just got an email from Lews customer service. They are sending me a new rod. I was confident they would.. They have been so good to me over the past two years. I couldn't ask for more from a company.
  4. First time for me.. It wasn't funny.. more of a WT* just happened.
  5. I tried 6 rods for frogs/toads. Price ranged from $120.00-$250.00. My favorite was the Abu Garcia IKE74-6. The rod shows it quality immediately. After you've spent a half hour with it the party's over. You're not shipping it back. When you set the hook and pull that horse out of the junk for the first time you'll be happy to recommend the rod too. It's a class rod.. I'm not a big swim bait fisherman.. I would recommend a swim bait rod thats job specific. As far as reels are concerned you can't beat a Lews tournament pro. I have a Team Mag and Team lite, I use them for square bills, spinner baits, worming, swim jigs, plastic swim baits. Ect... Both great reels. I prefer the TP for frogs and toads. It just feels right and they're tough. If not a TP check out a Super Duty.
  6. Great, glad I could help. PM me if you want to discuss further.
  7. No it was my Lews Magnum One. A Super Stick for punching. If Lews replaces it great.. If not I'll replace it with an IKE 72-6. The IKE rods are really nice. Absolute Quality.
  8. The one in the pic is a 1.5 with rattles, I want to get a matching 2.5.
  9. I'm after Lunkers 80% of the time when I'm out fishing. I'll definitely want a few books to help get me thru winter and keep my head in the game while I wait for spring. I would really like to move south. My wife is so close to her family I can't take her away from them. when the parents go, we go. Question is where...?
  10. I'm missing this in a big way...
  11. The bass are not eating much and they're not aggressive at all. I was out yesterday the water was near 60'. I caught one, I had 3 others roll behind toads and I had zero action on jigs. Today I had zero action. The water dropped about 5 degrees overnight.. The wind was strong and consistent for the last two days, It pulled the temp quickly.
  12. This one has been a big winner for me.
  13. The break was 3" above the 6th guide. It's a life time warranted rod so the company should replace it. I sent them an email earlier today. I have many of their products and I've gotten to know the customer service folks so I don't expect them to refuse sending me a new rod.
  14. Custom painted are higher priced than off the shelf. I've seen them online as high as $25.00. Maybe it was a sham?
  15. I bought 1.5 & 2.5 knock offs on eBay this summer. They've caught plenty of bass for me. Average cost was $11.00 compared to $22.00 for originals. The blue gill and baby bass colors have been very productive.
  16. I was using a punch jig around stumps. Had a hit, set it big because of the mats over and around the stump area I was in. Missed the set and caught the stump... crack! First time I've broke a rod.
  17. Mine is exactly as described, caught three bass with it today! Rods a total "10".
  18. Hi Donny, welcome to Bassresource. Lots of very nice people here. Very educational too. I'm in RI. PM me when you get a chance, we'll talk about meeting for a day of fishing.
  19. Power Pro Braid with a P-Line CX leader. "Let your rod do its job". If you're fishing deep a foot one way or the other shouldn't make much of a difference. Try it.. You will find this will be a lot more manageable and without a doubt your hook set ratio will be a lot higher.
  20. Chartreuse White, Gold and Chrome Willow Leaf. 3/8oz or 1/2oz depending. My favorite to date is the Terminator Ti. I want to give the Molix a try.
  21. Buy a few pinch jig heads from Siebert. Add the skirt of your choice. But some Texas rig hooks, add a punch jig tube. Tighten it up and Use a tooth pick to peg the jig head.Another option is something I've done for a long time. Take a drill bit to the back of a 1/2 oz lead bullet weight to hollow it out. Use a long shaft Texas rig hook. Put the skirt right on the shaft and glue it up against the hooks eye so there's room for the tube or trailer which is put on before the skirt. Follow the other steps to complete the punch jig. The punch jig will be straight... I tie a uni knot.
  22. Rather than be specific I'll offer you a couple of choices. For about $80.00 If you can find a Team Daiwa rod I think you will be happy with it. The new Tatula XT is also a very nice rod to consider at $100.00. At a higher price point you may want to look at an Abu Garcia IKE power rod for $149.00. I have two Team Daiwa rods and an IKE rod. I'm very happy with all of them.
  23. I completely agree A Jay. It would be great if we all had a solid bass fishermen tackle shop within 100 miles of us. I say that because there isn't much at BP or Cabela's near me that I'm interested in buying. Is Cabela's losing money? Why are they considering selling out?
