  1. Yes he is. Delaware Valley Tackle. He's also a sponsor here on the forum.
  2. She used it but never abused it. She was only 5 or so. She learned to cast this little rod and reel with a solid rubber frog I cut the hook off. A year later she was catching bass with it. This is a dobber...
  3. My reels are due in tomorrow from Mike, Can't wait to get on the water with them. The Siebert Jigs our other Mike sent me are fantastic. I had a monster on the other day. That darn fish snapped 20# CX line leader. All I could do was sit and hold my head in my hands! Just wanted to say thanks to all who recommended both Mikes!
  4. I still have my daughters first rod and reel combo. The price tags still on it. She was 4 or 5 when I bought it for her. I'll take a pic and post it.
  5. Sweet ! My first one was a bamboo fly rod my brother gave me. I mounted a Zebco on it. I could out cast everybody with it. Dobber hook and earth worm from the banks. I think I was 8 years old.
  6. I've been using CX for a while, it will break randomly and it struggles to keep knots together. Be sure to add s touch of Super Glue on the knots. I'm done with it. Going back to Stren.
  7. I don't want micro guides for this rod so I'm looking at a Macro Pro Model number: DFMA66MH-C or DFMA69MH-C This rod has to be a bit versatile. I want to use it for 1/4-1/2 oz baits. examples would be: Spinner baits, Square bills, Finesse jigs and plastics. I have no idea what the action is like on this rod. I have my concerns based on opinions I've read about Duckett's (soft) over weight rated blanks..Duckett does not mention rod tip action at all? I want a rod with some back bone and a fast tip. Advice will be much appreciated.
  8. Return the lesser reel and look for a better quality used reel for the same amount of money. Shiny and new doesn't mean better. How much did you pay for that reel?
  9. I'm going all braid with a leader. I've had it with nylon whatever line. Lost two more nice bass today and two new cranks because of line breakage. I'm going back to Stren for my leader too. I've had enough of the flouro and hybrid band wagon.
  10. Around here those ponds are plentiful and they have gravel ramps. The ones that don't are still easy access with the canoe.
  11. I'm in Southern New England. Most of the lakes and ponds here do not allow gas engines, Some allow a 9.9hp. I made the most of a canoe for my fishing.
  12. Harbor Freight has a nice trailer on sale right now for $400.00. It comes as a kit that's easy to put together. http://www.harborfreight.com/600-lb-capacity-boat-trailer-with-8-inch-wheels-and-tires-5002.html Have an alignment after the build at a local shop.
  13. If I can't back it down I'm not going to that lake. I built an outrigger for the canoe that works great I can stand and cast all day. Boat wakes are a non issue.
  14. I bought a trailer. What a time and energy saver. Life is much easier now. If you fish out of a canoe or kayak consider a trailer. You won't regret buying one.
  15. Mike Siebert's Jigs arrived today. This was my first order. Just want to add my 2 cents. The quality is superb. Nice long and full skirts, The wire bands are perfectly placed, Proper hook size, colors are excellent and the workmanship is outstanding. I'll be pitching them tomorrow afternoon and into the night! Great job Mike, Thx Wayne
  16. Iz hopin 4a bazpo Cod fum ma doorta.
  17. Did you find this in an urban fishing dictionary?
  18. I hear the crime/theft rate in the District of Columbia is higher than anywhere else in the world. I'm sure the insurance companies will not cover any of it. I do miss that canoe.
  19. I'm going to a lighter weight braid. The 65# knots are to big. Especially with the micro's. I used 40# yesterday and liked it. I'm also going to try 30#. The 40# leader knots are much smaller and the line casts great and feels great on the spool. I was trowing traps with it.
  20. Bummer....... Some Thief robbed a Brand new canoe from me about 20 years ago. It was in the woods chained to a tree on private property. It could only have been one of two people that robbed it. They were the only two that knew it was there. One of them moved to Minnesota the day before I saw that it was gone. Hmmm.
  21. Before you leap consider a canoe with 38-40" width. a shallow v bottom is best.
  22. I only use a spinning reel for drop shots. If I were in the buying mood I'd buy a Lews. All but 2 of my 8 reels are Lews. They're a great company I know I can count on and there reels are solid in every way. I pay zero attention to reviews for obvious reasons.
  23. I don't want to know........................ lol
