  1. I will be in LA for a conference the week of Feb 20th and would love to get on the water with someone and catch some Cali ditch pickles. If anyone is in that area with a boat and wants to take me fishing let me know!
  2. Havoc Pitt Boss Green Pumpkin Texas Rigged. My go to confidence lure!
  3. Being a kayak fisherman I run into many jerk faced power boaters with big egos. This cat thought it would be cool to A. wake me from about 15 feet away. B. Pull up right behind me and start fishing around me C. Cast about 3 feet from my kayak. I keep a 3/4 oz jig tied on at all times anyways. Sometimes it comes in handy more than others. We exchanged words, and I invited him to the boat ramp. Keep in mind that I had been fishing one cove all morning and he pulls in about 2 hours after first light and starts this jazz. No tournaments going on, just leisure fishing. I'm not so small when I am on dry land. Ole buy didn't want any part of me then. I took his numbers off the boat and called the GW afterwards. He said to video his antics if there were a next time.
  4. I used a 60% promo code and couldn't pass up on one for $80 shipped. Too good of a deal lol. I will let you know how it goes after a few outings with it! Also, I decided to try out the FG knot with some 12#FC I normally use for Leaders. It is Sunline Super Sniper 12#FC as some mentioned here.
  5. Thanks for all of that information man! I might try the leader first and see what happens. The reel is currently spooled with 50# braid but it's time to replace the line anyways. But I will try the FG Knot this weekend before I go straight FC
  6. I just got a Manley rod for Texas rigs. It has micro guides (sort of) and I don't want to mess with braid and a leader since many many people say it gets clipped by the small guides a lot. That leave me the option of going mostly Fluorocarbon on this rod/reel. I am thinking 12# to cover my bases but could I get by with 10# or even 8#? Also, feel free to recommend a preferred brand. And do you use a lot of Mono backing to save some $$$?
  7. Fish grips are a blessing when it comes to trebles lol I have yet (knock on wood) to be hooked. Nope
  8. Choked it Killed it Inhaled it Crushed it Just bit it and took off
  9. Try to learn how to get those out. There is a good thread and video about this somewhere else on this forum.
  10. I've never had a problem casting a weightless senko with a BC.
  11. That is a sweet looking boat man! Very sharp.
  12. That is what I used to use. But in my open style kayak water collects to the rear because that's there the weight is focuses. I want to put an inlet hose at the very back since that's where the smallest amount of water collects. Just for reference I have an Ascend H12 Kayak. It CAN sink.
  13. I am thinking of adding some type of small water pump for a small bilge pump on my hybrid canoe/kayak for when it is raining. Obviously it wouldn't keep up if I turtled, but a rain shouldn't overwhelm it. I just want to be able to fish in the rain and not have to stop for a while to manually pump water out of the kayak like I do now. Any ideas from you guys would be greatly appreciated!
  14. I once decided to hop off my kayak on a flat to cool off. Only problem was where my transducer was was about 2 feet more shallow then where I was. I got a lot more water than I had anticipated. But no, I have never fallen out myself on accident. Did watch a guy turtle while trying to get in his kayak once. I may or may not have laughed all day about that.
  15. Have you considered spending a little more for a Lew's reel? They're really good for the money. I started on a Black Max reel and liked it, then I got a cheaper Lew's and for the price it was better quality.
