my buddy fishes a islander, he loves it, I'm on more of a budget, thin. Im going to get a Matrix 4 3/8, the non ported one.

I like braid and leader, just dont like having to tie up new leaders, how long do you genrally make yours?

I like the braid and leader, just wondering if I'm missing out on using fluoro.

I fish an 8' 6" ML with a pretty large reel, 10 pound mainline, 6 pound leader and a #6 octopus hook snelled

I fish a drop shot a lot, usually fish it shallow and pitch it around, not too much vertical fishing, when doing this would fishing straight fluoro be better than braid and leader because the line might not always be tight? What do you prefer?

Depends on if you wanna use braid or fluro, if you wanna use fluoro get a 30 or 35, 25 for braid.

I had two, sold one, still have the drop shot rod. They're good workhorse rods but kinda heavy and bulky.

I'd get a Shimano reel, OCD kickin in. If it's a shimano rod it needs a shimano reel lol.

I'd check out a 7' M/F triumph, very traditional looking rod. St Croix rods run heavy.

I'm just wondering because I fish around a bit of grass and like to fish a Texas rigged hook, I hardly ever fish it vertical, usually cast it.

I'm looking at the new E6X drop shot rods, there are two models offered, a Mag Light and a Mag Medium, I normally fish a 1/4 weight when dropshotting, what would be the better option?
