BPS Pro Qualifier 2
Goose, so I took the reel completely apart pretty much. Cleaned it and greased using Superlube. The reel had never been serviced since new prob 6-7yrs. Now I have this small squeak that is annoying. Took the handle and drag star off and spun the reel with the drive shaft... still a squeak. I did grease the AR bearing. Was that a mistake? I feel like that's causing the noise. Right the the AR bearing is soaking in Simple Green. I plan on piling it lightly and reinstalling. Yes, I am a bit anal I'll admit ?

I work next to a BPS and Outdoor World ships free to store. Sideplate assembly includes??? I guess I'm screwed on replacing the brake drum? For $18 I'm not getting the whole side plate including the drum am I? Not that Outdoor World would still carry this model. I seen you replaced the whole side on your old PQ was that only $18? Seems to good to be true.

Goose, If you are ok with it I may attach some picks of the internals once I take it apart. Hopefully you will comment on them. Sounds like you may be an expert when it comes to this reel. I'm not so sure how good my eye is on identifying which parts are worn. I plan on polishing up the brake drum anyway + the spool & pinion. The bearings don't sound like they are bad from what I could tell so far.

The bronze Carbonlite?? Is that the one from about 6-7yrs ago some consider gold? The 6.7oz with the carbon handle with the same platform as the PQ. A guy just sent me one to take apart and clean. Claims there is a problem with the drag which I have yet to see. I'm hoping to make an offer on it when I'm done since he doesn't really use it anymore. What do you guys think would be a good offer?? Its got some minor chips, but overall is in good shape.

Rough feeling reel. NEED HELP/ADVICE
This has happened to me before and it will drive you crazy. I polished parts and did the toothpaste thing with no success. I just ended up ordering a main drive gear & pinion from Outdoor World. I think it was like $22. That fixed the problem. BPS carries Lews now so I'm sure they have some cheap.

Stren is even too good for backing use that $2/spool Shakespeare line. Cheap cheap

Seaguar Invisx vs. Abrasx vs. Red Label
I like them all. Light cranking RL does just fine for me in 10# and casts like a dream. Abrabx handles great too in 12-15 in the logs n sticks. All treated with line conditioner. I change the line out before every Spring and probably only fish 15 times per year so it's still fresh, but I swap it out anyway. I bought some cheap Sunline Super fluoro and it was garbage. I think it not near what RL is.
- Academy rod action ?

Lews reel comparison
Everyone seems to praise the MB for the price. The BB1 is just better if you are bombing crankbaits and want a wider spool to hold more line.

Yozuri TopKnot Mainline Fluorocarbon
I've been waiting for a review of this stuff. I will be trying some for sure.

Kastking Stealth review

Bps carbonlite reel
If you can check em out in store then you can have em show you a few.

Bps carbonlite reel
You got lemons with any reel. What's the overall rating? Mine you can't hardly backlash if you want to.

Bps carbonlite reel
Also has the carbon drag. Tons of high end features for $89
-
Rod
The Duckett for the cranking due to their soft tip. A m duckett is really soft though.

Bps carbonlite reel
For $89 I don't think you can find a nicer reel. The braking system is awesome and its feather light. Its more comfortable than the PQ and not such a heavy clunker

What brand line?
Both InvizX & AbrazX are top notch imo and my go to line. For inexpensive line, I like Yo-Zuri.

Casitas Reviews
I fish with less than 70yds of line on all my reels. Never had any issues. 7.2 sounds good for that.

What brand line?
I second Yo-Zuri. The C21 from my experience didn't handle as nice. I gave it about two trips, but maybe I had a bad batch. I figured I got what I paid for. The Yo-Zuri Ultra Soft I even had good luck with on cranks with 10# test.
