  1. The attempt to ban softbaits was not aimed at eradicating bass fishing, as plenty of trout anglers use them as well. It simply opened u[ a discussion on discarding softbaits. Don't throw them in the lake!
  2. Forum rules say this is no place to badmouth companies or products
  3. Not quite that old.. He's almost there! Pushing 50
  4. I'm just confused because the Chatterbait package says "For better action, use braid". When fishing one on braid, would you go straight braid ir leader?
  5. Buy another rod.It is a free market ya know. The Govt isn't forcing you to buy Duckett.
  6. This is what I would think. I honestly think a 6'8 Heavy if you can find it is probably a great frog rod
  7. What line do you use for bladed jigs? Just curious, I'm not very knowledgeable on bladed jigs.
  8. Thanks guys! I'll probably buy a couple of brands/colors and see if I find a preference.
  9. True. Just watched that happen on MLF.
  10. I may still have this issue of the magazine... I may have to dig it up and post pics if everybody want's to look. Can't remember if I sold it or not.
  11. This. I think I could probably catch fish in 95% of situations with this if I had too.
  12. Love their stuff. If not helpful, they are still good reads.
  13. I would think if you matched the colors to those of what the Bass are feeding on (like a Bronzeye Shad or whatever color matches your local forage) I think it would work just fine. I don't think that you have to fish frogs in the slop, I believe they are mainly used for that because they are the best tool for that specific purpose, but there are other tools for fishing open water, but ling story short, I don't see a reason why not.
  14. Because the spots were from a guide on G-Ville, yes its cheating. Had it just been from a Spro employee or another competitor, than no it wouldn't be cheating. It is only cheating because the rules state specifically: NO GUIDES. Otherwise, its not. Reason being, that sharing spots will happen. Pros do it a lot. Last year on FLW "Circuit Breaker" I believe that Clint Davis and JT Kenney were the ones being followed by the show, and they were travel partners if I remember correctly. Now they were on Kentucky Lake (or another ledge lake, can't 100% remember) but Davis knew he wasn't gonna make the cut, so he gave his spot (a secret ledge known to produce year after year known by only a few tour pros) to JT Kenney. So it happens, and in certain circumstances it is not cheating, but in this specific one I believe that it is cheating
  15. I think that the "best value" is a misnomer for the Curado. It would easily go to the CarbonLite IMO. Or even the AIRD, which I have heard delivers rock solid performance.
  16. I've always heard that rather than baitfish being blown by the wind, that the wind blows around phytoplankton, and that the baitfish follow the phytoplankton. I don't know if this is true, it's just what I've heard.
  17. Haven't had that happen yet lol
  18. Thanks A Jay. The postition of the grass often changes due to wind and current, but right now the grass is very tight to the bank. It is mostly soft bottom, but they're are hard bottom areas including rip rap. The main forage is Shad. Lots of shad in the lake and the bass feed on them and get FAT! The shad are all different sizes, from baitfish size, two the size of a keeper bass! I will try some of these strategies and let you know, thanks!
  19. Good tips, and yeah it's just about post spawn here, most of the fish are spawned out. I fish a lot of shallow water year round though. I really like fishing a small reservoir because the water feeding it brings in current and food, and its about the best habitat a bass could have. Guys in Indiana complain there's no big fish here, but you just have to find the right place. And no, I'm not giving away my spots lol.
  20. Did you use conditioner? What was the diameter?
  21. May I ask what the end cost was? It seems like a fun little project.
  22. Same here. i know I've posted it before but I think this is a good start. http://www.fieldandstream.com/articles/2014/08/bait-guide-how-to-catch-bass-in-any-pond
