  1. To keep this bad boy alive, here are some we caught at a local reservoir similar to hat Deep mentioned. Nice and rainy, overcast. All on a spinnerbait.
  2. If they are following your lure, but not committing, the best way to get them to commit to that bait is to make a sudden direction, depth, or speed change, which will often cause a reaction strike from the bass. With the crankbait, you can deflect it off cover, use a stop and go preentation or jerk the rod every so often. With the spinnerbait, you can speed it up, slow it down, suddenly kill it, or jerk the rod. All of these will cause a reaction strike from a following fish. Musky guys do this by making Figure-Eights or L-Turns, these may be worth a try too.
  3. No I just get the sense that's what people do down their. At least what I've seen of fishing fork.
  4. I've heard the castability of the Tournament Lite is insane! I love my Laser MGs, SS, and Tournaments.
  5. I don't think that will happen The Toyota quality is insane. We've owned more Yotas then anything else and they are tanks. Can drive them or upwards of 200,000 miles no problem. They are also quite nice to drive. There is actually a Yota factory right here in Indiana.
  6. Yes, generally it gives you a break line.
  7. I'll see if I can get some better pictures of it soon. They look similar, but not exactly. I was thinking it may be a type of milfoil.. but wasn't sure. Is there something special I should know about milfoil? Like if there's a special way to fish it, or if it denotes something special about this small reservoir?
  8. Welcome fellow northerner!
  9. My Yota's did though!
  10. I fish a small local place around here and it is filled with lots of grass clumps. This grass grows in clumps/mats subsurface. I have included a picture. Does anybody know what kind of grass this is and have any tips for fishing it? Catt, Tom (WRB), AJay, or any of the more experienced members definitely chime in if you know! But all other opinions are welcome as well!
  11. Oh, they also weren't hooked very good and didn't seem like they were eating it all the way. Seemed like they were just reaction bites. I think part of it was the fact that the War Eagle Spinnerbait had a trailer built into the skirt. I will be ordering trailer hooks for it soon. I'm thinking red?
  12. Got some time out on the water this morning before heading off to work basically the rest of the day (uggghhhh). We were on the water from 7-10:30 this morning. We caught 5 between the two of us, so if we were fishing a partner tournament, we would have had a "limit" and at that point would have been culling for the next 4 and a half hours. The weather was frontal conditions, there was a steady light rain the entire time, cloudy, and there was wind blowing a lot, pushing most of the current towards a rip rap bank, where I caught my first fish. We caught all of our fish by fishing Spinnerbaits parallel to the bank. It was about as perfect as conditions could have been for fishing Spinnerbaits. I was fishing a War Eagle Mike McClelland Finesse Spinnerbait and the old man was fishing a Booyah Super Shad.
  13. If I'm gonna have to weight a wacky rigged worm in order to get it down, it defeats the purpose and isn't worth the trouble for me. At that point, I'd just go with another presentation like a drop shot.
  14. Double willow spinnerbaits aren't what you want in murky water. Try a black/chartreuse spinnerbait w/a Colorado or turtle blade instead.
  15. Good tips. Stock up on a few different models, and then develop your own preference. Arashi, XPS, Xcalibur and SK all make good squarebills. Get different colors for different situations, a few w/rattles, a few w/out rattles that way you are prepared for every situation you might face.
  16. What braid are you using?
  17. I really liked the Savage Geat hard baits. The Top Prey, Vibra Prey and all their lipped cranks were great. So are their jerkbaits. Whhy did they get discontinued!
  18. I actually think the quality of stuff out of Korea is quite great!
  19. These days Toyota is assembled more here than true "American" cars are
  20. A local place carries em here. Is there something ya'll don't like about the Savy series? If you wanted Dobyn's and lets say money wasn't an issue which rods would you buy? Or would you get a different brand?
  21. Glad to see you are back at it! She looks like a beaut! Good luck fishing this weekend!
  22. Send him a PM
