Lund Fury 1600
Smokercraft. I sold the Lowe earlier this season. I LOVED that boat, but the bench seats were a pain in the butt to jump over all day.

Lund Fury 1600
I really really was impressed. I found a brand new one for 15900 at the dealership. If I had the extra cash it would’ve followed me home that day. I’m going to our vinyl or Eva in my old boat for now and start saving my Pennies.

I looked at a fury in person today. I’m in love! What a nice boat.

My garage set up is unique. We’ve got a big 2 car garage with an attachment to it. My garage is about 31’ wide by 25’ deep, I can put 2 cars and my boat into it. That little attachment room on the side also needs to be accessed.

My poor boat is far from a fossil. I’d like to say it has patina. Fish finder I’ve got is a garmin 73sv. it works pretty good really.

Lund Fury 1600
Haha! I have no idea what those thing weight 😂😂😂 How about 10 fish finders?

Lund Fury 1600
Current set up is around 1000 lbs. she pulls great. 6 gallons of fuel 40 bow Mount 50 2 lithium batteries 30 lbs fish finder maybe 10 lbs 2 rod and a tiny back pack lunch pretty much all I bring fishing I’d be right around that 1150 lb mark I’d say. Probably be ok on weight. 90% of my fishing is about 12 minutes from my house too. Oh and an anchor and lift vests. Might be closer to 1200 lbs actually

I know one of the marinas up the road has a lake you can put boats in on the property. I’ll start there and see if they’ve got any fury’s that I can try out

Please remain fighting in this thread. It’s a much more interesting topic than my questions about a boat I might buy in next 6 months

Lund Fury 1600
Good point! I am well under with my current set up so it hasn’t really croseee my mind too much. Thanks for thinking of this.

Lund Fury 1600
My boat now is 16’5” long and the bow is 67” wide. I have had the thought it was unstable. I stand and fish in it all day. The fury is 6 it 7 inches wider so I’d think it would be even better. Current boat What does a 1/4 inch thick boat weigh? That’s gotta be a so much weight

Lund Fury 1600
Tiller is 100% what I’m thinking. With the wireless trolling motor I really don’t get off the back of the boat all day. My depth finder is already set up for when cruising with the outboard.

Lund Fury 1600
I guess I should give some context: I’m a Hoosier. No salt water will ever be fished in. Weight is a concern since I don’t own a pick up truck. Right now I’ve got a Honda crv max towing capacity is 1500 lbs, Size is also a concern. I have a 2 or probably a 2 and 1/2 car garage. We can fit both cars and my boat in the garage. It works great. I do some medium size lakes and fish a slow river for small mouth 90% of the time.

Lund Fury 1600
I have an old 1987 smoker craft with a 1980 Johnson 35 hp. It’s a nice set up and I’ve fished the snot out of it especially for $500. It needs news floors and a cosmetic facelift. I am considering just buying a new or couple years old boat. The boat I am considering is the Lund fury 1600. Does anyone have experience fishing out of one? This boat is about as big as I can go and still fit 2 cars and boat into my garage. thanks Rob

Probably my favorite poster to ever read. Sorry to see this. God bless you and your family Catt.

Man overboard!
Probably 10 years ago we were highly intoxicated and I flipped the kayak trying to get into the boat at the ramp, I lost a bunch of gear. I was in about 2 feet of water and had a life jacket on. That could’ve easily been a really bad day. It wad pretty scary; I can’t imagine getting back in that thing in my altered state of mind. I gave up the sauce years ago as well.

Fix power drive or get terrova?
I guess I could’ve have explained that better. I think the proper shaft is needs replaced on the powerdrive not just the prop. If it was just a prop and seal job I’d do it. I shortened my powerdrive originally and it wad pretty easy. Tearing the lower unit apart for the prop shaft, seals and shaft replacement all together seemed pretty good price at $350 to me: I work on old two stroke outboards often so I think I could’ve figured this one out. Happy to just have it done for once though. The upgrade on the powerdrive eliminates the foot pedal so I don’t have option to use it. I’m 100% remote user at this point due to this and really don’t have any intention to ever use a foot pedal again. It’s actually $350 vs about $1600. I hear what you’re saying about sunk cost and you are correct. I think could’ve phrased it more like is the terrova worth the money give my circumstances already owning a trolling motor.

Fix power drive or get terrova?
I have a powerdrive 50 lb thrust. It is 5 years old. Works great. I paid $300 for it a couple years ago. I updated it to spot lock/advanced gps last year. The upgrade with the wireless remote cost me about $600, so I am at about $900 in on this thing. I bought a different boat and needed to get the shaft lengthened to fit the boat. This was supposed to cost about $150. Repair shop says trolling motor needs rebuilt lower unit due to failing lower unit seal (it worked fine when I brought it in, so I'm not sure if it actually needs to be replaced. but i am not one to argue with a shop since they know more than I do) The prop was also out of square. They said total repair would be $350 for this. This gets me to about $1250. This same trolling motor brand new today$1249. I can get a 55 lb thrust terrova for about $1600. If youre me what do you do? Get powerdrive fixed or just get a terrova and sell powerdrive for whatever i can get out of motor/upgraded head/remote? I know Terrova is much nicer trolling motor and I can still use foot pedal so I'm leaning towards this.

Favorite snacks while fishing?
I am the opposite of most. I bring a week worth of snacks fishing and eat all of them in like 3 or 4 hours. I almost never eat snacks outside of fishing but something on the boat I'm all about the snacks. My son is 3 and goes out with me so we have applesauce, apples, bananas, fruit snacks, sandwiches, water etc. Whatever find at the house.

Anyone fished out of one of these?
I am going to start the restore this fall. I think the open floor with flatter floors will make it much nicer. 8+ hour days on the water with my bench seats have made me ready to move on boats pretty quick.
-
Length of the Average Fishing Trip
If my son is with me we normally fish 2-3 hours. If I'm with a buddy we sometimes fish all day.

Anyone fished out of one of these?
It’s same size boat actually 67” wide 16 feet long. Big difference is the bench seats vs open floor pedestal seats being biggest difference. 1987 vs 2010 being other id say,

Anyone fished out of one of these?
My wheel bearing checked out. I replaced the entire hubs just for good measure. Sound is still occurring. It is my trailer guides. I didn't realize what it was until later. I did actually buy another boat last weekend. It is a 1987 16 foot smoker craft big fisherman. I got it for the galvanized trailer, but the more i look at the more I am thinking of keeping it. Open floor plan. Rod locker, live well, casting deck/storage up front. The floors need replaced in the back third of the boat. I am deciding if I want to take on a project or not at this point. Boat is set up for fishing vs what I've got now. I do love my 0 maintenance little aluminum boat though. It can sit outside and not have a care in the world about it. Its also light and sits in the water really well.

Expectations too high or a common trend?
Darren, Thank you for sharing this post. I was contemplating starting a thread very similar to this within the las week and fall into this today. I share your frustration and to be honest you're probably catching more fish per year than I am. We probably go on 40 trips a season. I normally fish 3-6 hours at a time. I probably catch 10-25 fish a year. It has been that way for 10 years straight now. I have watched more youtube than anyone ever should. I've bought more tackle and tried way more lures than I can imagine. I really am lost as to what to do next. Good luck. If you figure something out let us know.

Trailer has been making a weird noise like a chain is dragging at low speeds only (its not that i can tell). I am going to order new wheelbearings and lubricate whole trailer. I jacked up both wheels they spun freely with no play. Dust caps were a little low on grease but still had plenty. I will be interested to find out what noise actually is.
