  1. Lazy and Lonely seems like the name of a country album! I like it. I have been on google and found lots of resources, but being fairly new boat motors I don't really know to decipher what is good or not. I should have asked which site is the bassresource of outboards?
  2. I just bought a jon boat, and it came with an outboard motor. I haven't started the motor yet due to the cold weather. I bought the boat being indifferent if the motor worked or not. I got a great deal on the boat/trailer, so a working outboard is a nice bonus. I am wondering if you guys had any recommendations on forums/websites that would provide diagrams/copies of owners manuals that I can reference my outboard motor. The specific motor is a 25 hp 1969 evinrude sportsman. I believe it has an electric start feature to it. My plan is to the the basic maintenance/new plugs/new gas and see if she starts with my engine muffs this week. If I've got any problems I will need to reference a manual to start working on fixing the problem. Thanks in advance Rob
  3. Id be interested in the lures Bluebasser86 if your looking to sell. Happy to grow my addiction!
  4. For me there is a confidence I have in higher end gear that I think leads me to catching more fish. When i am not worried about components failing and i can focus entirely on getting fish into the boat it makes for a better day.
  5. I have a sit in kayak. If i did it again id have got a sit on top kayak. I don't think you'll find a pedal drive kayak for $500 and if you do Id be scared to see the shape it was in.
  6. Welcome to BR frank! This is a wonderful and helpful community.
  7. Last trip I went fishing, buddy of mine says "I lost a lure over near that tree last time I was here. I paddled over to look and see a red kvd 1.5 hanging from the tree. I get the lure and he says "that's the one i lost!" Gotta love finding the lure you lost weeks before.
  8. I take 1-3 combos depending on the day and what I think will get bites. 1 rod will be if I'm going with a specific technique for the trip and 3 rods will be to cover each water column. I only own 7 combos, so nothing too fancy.
  9. A kayak is hand down my favorite way to fish. It is a quick and minimalist way to get on the water. A couple combos and 5 lures I'm good for an entire day on the river. On a lake a boat is way better.
  10. I went through pretty much this exact situation 7 years ago. It sucked. I still remember that pain. Being married to an addict is a miserable experience, and I felt so much better after it. There is power in prayer, God always has a plan. I’d say work out as much as you can and focus on doing the things you love. Both of those helped me though my divorce.
  11. Thanks for the response! I am primarily a kayak fisherman, and I like going up and down the river for smallies. Waverly is my primary put in and ill venture down to Henderson Ford from time to time. I just got a Jon boat, so I'm excited to have multiple boats to fish from.
  12. I like the strike king KVD jerk baits. Clear Ayu and Blue Chrome are my favorite colors. Nice lures, can be had around $7-$10 each depending on sale. Well worth it IMO.
  13. I’ve been stopped by the game warden so many time it’s comical. I’m good to be stopped 3-4 times a year on average id say. The weirdest was one time it was the middle of February with snow on the ground and stupid cold outside friend of mine and I were bored and we went down to the river to just fool around. With in 2 minutes of being there we get stopped.
  14. I keep all the lures that catch fish a secret. Problem is I keep the secret from me.
  15. The curado 150 mgl is the reel I’d be looking at, but your on the right track! I’ve for a few curado 200k reels and they are fantastic, but I don’t throw anything under 1/4 ounce on then. Really they are even better with 3/8 oz or heavier. Curado 70 mgl looks great too. You can’t go wrong with any of the shimano reels imo.
  16. I like to work. I always have, so that makes having a strong work ethic come pretty easy I suppose. I had a VERY strict stepfather growing up, so being lazy wasn’t even an option. I am a nurse, and it can be a pretty demanding job. I always feel like I owe it to my patients to do my best. I think having a positive attitude and being reliable should be the standard and norm. I do also think that working your life away is stupid. I’m going to give it my all when I’m at work, but I’m not going to live at my job. Life is too short. Wise man told me years ago “there is no pride in being the richest man in the graveyard.” That has always stuck with me.
  17. Funny I own 1 spinning and 5 casting reels. I use my spinning reel 75% of the time give it take
  18. Curado mgl 150 will cover all of your needs and give you some more on the heavy side as well.
  19. I’m really glad I started this thread. Tons of solid information so far. 2023 is going to be a heavy cranking year for me, I’ve pretty much fished the bottom of the river and top water exclusively. I’m going to work lots of lay downs and weed lines. Squarebills, jerkbaits, shad raps, in-line spinners and chatterbaits will be my first weapons of choice.
  20. I've torn one reel apart. Needless to say it turned into a parts reel.
  21. I bought a couple flicker shads to try out this spring. Tackle warehouse's rod sale also got me. I picked up a lancer pro cranking rod for $55 bucks shipped to my door. I think it will be perfect for smallies this spring.
  22. Funny you post this. I bought a black fury in black and orange and Avila with a gold blade mepps 3 today. Your exactly right about them being forgotten. I surely did forget about them.
  23. Greenwood resident here. Muncie native. I'm still fishing the same river just 90 miles south now.
  24. hard to beat KVD jerk baits for the $
