thanks guys. went out again today and got a nice 3lber on my handmade Slammer look-alike. missed 3 on that and the punker:( oh well, plenty more to come;) now that i have some confidence in topwater swimbaits, i need to focus on sinking/diving ones and get some confidence in those as well. Rand: i have an Okuma Guide Select 7'11" H with a Shimano Cardiff 300 and 20# Pline CXX. worked great so far for me.

went out to my favorite lake today and decided id try my hardest to only throw the big baits. well i stuck to that and was happy i did. started throwing the Slammer. nothin happenin so i tied on the Lunker Punker Jr. i got a nice 3-8 pretty fast. then a little later i got a 2-15. then i got a couple pike, 27" and 31" man do these things come out of the water like a rocket! they came completely outta the water, i wish a cam corder was on that!! lol. a little later i had another 2-3lber but threw it on the jump..then i used a 6"baitcmith with nothin...went back to the spot we were getting bit and got a 15" on the Slammer. that was all, 3 bass and 2 pike, all keepers and missed another keeper. my dad was throwing a sammy and got 4 bass n 2 pike, NONE keepers. im convinced big baits catch big fish(well keepers today lol). i cant wait to get back out and give em another try....IM HOOKED!!! lol 3-8 2-15 31" pike

there really are transparent baitfish? ive only seen those little guppies that are transparent..never a baitfish..maybe a pic?

i hate manning, not just eli but peyton with a passion. eli more, i dono why theres just something about him. up till he won the sb he was bad, and everyone kept saying he was good. but during the play offs that year he was great, hate to admit but he was. still hate him tho lol

Did your house get broken into today? Did you get robbed going to lunch? Was your car stolen last night while you slept? NO? Then I guess the police did a pretty good job at preventing crime. im sure those happened to many people last night and today. kind of like the saying "locks only keep honest people out"..same goes with police. they only keep honest people from breaking laws

did this a few years ago and has done pretty well. i should make another just to see if i can get it any better. (Northern Pike) nice pike a got on it

Only limited by your imagination. Deadstick, cast and reel, twitch. On a good day, I can get the cadence down and make the thing dive and then stick its face up out of the water like it's feeding on top. sounds good. goin down to Kentucky Lake for a whole week, cant wait to throw this and other new swimbaits!

just got one a couple weeks back in shad. cant wait to try it out, and compared to a 9" slammer this looks like a bait to that! lol. how are you guys presenting it with most success? i was thinking constant retrieve with jerks thrown in..

okay, this must have got moved to other fish species before because i didnt say i was fishing for bass with crappie patterned cranks...here it goes again... We're headed down to Kentucky Lake Sunday, so we need some nice crappie patterns on crankbaits to match the hatch, FOR BASS. I'll be going to BPS Thursday for a few things and wanted to get some nice cranks, FOR BASS. Anyone know of a brand the has a good crappie pattern that dives to around 10ft? One that i could get at BPS also. Thanks. aaron

hey guys, me n my dad are headin down to Kentucky Lake for a whole week(june 21-28). we cant wait to get down there and hopefully catch some lunkers. we will be targeting LM and SM bass mostly, with crappie/bluegill a little unless the bass bite is great. so, does anyone have any suggestions on baits and types of cover/structure to try? we were thinking main lake points, ledges, flats and the shore for some pitchin. if you dont want to say it, you can PM me... oh yea, we'll be staying at Kent Oak Resorts> http://www.kenoakresort.com/index.htm any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks fellas aaron

just wondering what the conditions were like when you had your best fishing weekend or day? mine would be about 2 years ago. it was the hottest, most humid weekend of the year and we just nailed em 3 days in a row. we had many fish over 3lbs and a couple over 4. i think the least number we cought on any trip that weekend was around 12, with most being in the 20ish range. i also should add these were on 3 or 4 different lakes. it was up in SE MI and NE IN where there are numerous lakes within 40min drive from where we stay. so, i just thought it would be interesting to see what weather conditions produced the best bite for you. aaron

man i forgot about these gems! thats all i used to throw for bass with just a little split shot just above the hook and reel it straight in. im gonna have to get me some more 7 and 10" for some lunkers. J Franco, i might have to try that out, thanks for the tip aaron

ive gotten 11 or 12 in a row. these were in a pond and all were only around 12". i dont really count that because ponds, IMO are alot easier then lakes to fish. in a lake i dont know if ive ever gotten more then one.

i believe i watched a video where Bill Seimental was showing someone on In-Fisherman i believe, how to throw Hudds. after the guy hooked up, he said if it comes to the surface reel as fast as possible to fill her mouth up with water and she wont jump if you keep the pressure on her. he did just that and it did not jump, just was coming along the surface. aaron

lol thanks guys. this sucker took alot of work but i think itll be worth it. tested it in the bathtub and it looks just like the slammer, the "click clack" noise even sounds louder. if these things catch fish around here, you can bet youll be seeing some new ones aaron

so, heres my latest creation. based on the MS Slammer, the MS standing for Mike Shaw, the creator, so mines called the AH Slammer->aaron homan. as you can tell its not exact but i think pretty close. a little short, a little fatter, and i forgot the eyes lol, dont think they will matter much as its a topwater. the paint job isnt the best lol and either is the finish but im proud of the shape lol. so let me know what ya think about it. compared to MS Slammer side aaron
