  1. I love my 2008 Triton Aluminum with a 50HP Mercury. Thing runs so smooth. Just keep a can of Seafoam in it to help clean it out and if you let it set for more than a week or two add Marine Stabil. I also run 93 Oct gas just because it seems it responds better. Gets a hotter spark from the plugs. Just seems to idle better and run smoother as opposed to 87 grade.
  2. Nite fishing can be hit or miss but when its on its a blast.. just gotta be careful on the water almost no visibility.. know where your at and the area your fishing..
  3. Looking at maybe getting in an event this year. I've never fished an event like this but I admit it would be exciting. I fish out of a 17' Triton Aluminum with a 50HP. Is this doable? The Smith Mountain and Lake Norman events are both about 3 hours from my location. Can anyone with experience in these events fill me in on what to expect?
  4. Thats when you slip in during the week or at night. My Dad is from Fort Gay.
  5. People have their own opinions but I absolutely love my 17' Triton Aluminum VT-17 Tournament Sport. It's perfect for me and a fishing buddy. It's easy to pull. Easy to care for and does a great job on my waters. A man catches fish, not the boats.
  6. Anyone??
  7. I never, ever throw a buzzbait without a trailer hook. Sometimes I throw a spinnerbait plain, with a trailer, or with a trailer hook just depending on how the fish are biting...
  8. I've had little bass hit the 90 so hard it knocked it up in the air out of the water.
  9. Coming down to SE Georgia near the FL state line during the second week of January. I am going to fish a couple of private farm ponds. Both are around 8 acres. What should I expect as far as the water temperature goes? Thanks.
  10. Just go with 20 inches is roughly 5lbs..... You can adjust the ratio accordingly.
  11. What Club? I'd like to join a club in the Southern WV area
  12. West Virginia leads the Nation in prescription drug abuse and overdoses. It is so bad now the state legislature legalized open and concealed carry so citizens can protect themselves and their families. I never step out of my truck without my gun and its in my hand when I walk from the dock to my truck after dark or before daylight.
  13. If I were them... i'd reformat and make Cabela's the world's premere Hunting Outfitter and Bass Pro the world's premere Fishing Outfitter. Both could carry some camping and home decor items. They'd absolutely dominate the outdoor market.
  14. Will a swivel help eliminate the circling?? I'd hate to spend a lot of time thinking i had it straight only to cast and do circles..
  15. Bluegills, for sure. Great breakdown of the weight. I think i'll go with the fluke. Do you rig them on a swivel?
  16. Very similar to the weather in Ohio. We usually do, but haven't gotten to go during the summer in a few years. Good thing about it down there is it can be fished year round!
  17. Take a look at the Tracker Grizzley line of john boats. Those things are basically bass boats and you can probably get one new with trailer for $5K
  18. Check mark all three except the fat ika.
  19. I have access to two private farm ponds while visiting family in SE Georgia during the 2nd week of Jan. One is 6 acres and hasn't been fished since I fished it in March. The other is 8 acres and hasn't had a line in it in over 3 years other than kids fishing for bream. There have been double digit LMB taken from both ponds. I got my hands on a little john boat with front fishing deck and trolling motor to use as much as I want during the week I am there to bounce back and forth between the two ponds they are located about 1/4 mile apart. I've done real good there in the past on rubber worm, spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, and squarebills. Best I can tell the max water depth runs about 10-12 feet. Good source of reeds, cattails, hydrilla, and laydown timber. Weather should be 70s and sunny and water temp around 55 degrees. I'm gonna use my regular arsonal of ammo but wanted to add a twist of something those ponds may have never seen. I'm thinking a shad pattern fluke or caffeine shad. Which one do you recommend? I don't have much experience with either one.
  20. I would fish a shallow diving jerkbait. Twitch it and let it rise.....twitch it and let it rise. Maybe the Rapala Shadow Rap. A double willow spinnerbait will do well. Run it just fast enough so that the blades clip the grass.
  21. I got my 2008 Triton Aluminum VT 17 Tournament Sport with a 50 HP with less than 15 hours running time for $5,235.00. All that needed to be done to it was service it and give it a good wash and cleaning. Looks and runs like new. Makes me the perfect fishing boat.
  22. A new bait from Strike King for 2017. Anyone thrown this sucker yet? Sorta like a popping frog with about 4 inch rubber legs off of it. Supposedly you can pop it and walk the dog with it.
  23. The lake I fish has alot of lillies that form thick canopies thru most of the summer. Lots of good advice but my personal go to rig for punching is a watermelon red flake baby brush hog with a wide gap hook and 3/8 tungsten bullet weight with 30lb braid. Flip it in the holes and it falls pretty slow and most strikes occur on the initial fall. Secret tip: Dip the tail in chartruese garlic dye to give it flash as it falls you will get a lot of reaction bites.
