  1. Livetarget makes a good shiner lipless have got several on it!
  2. Midnight Special being worked barely fast enough to keep it off the bottom will produce big fish.
  3. Went into my local Dick's Sporting Goods looking for the new Shadow Rap Shad and saw a box of these puppies on the end of the isle. No luck with the SRS yet wasn't on the shelf but gladly picked up these instead. I've been wanting to get these all winter. Got home and before the wifey took a nice long bath I rigged one up and gave it a few laps around the tub water. I must say the action on these things looks great. Can't wait to give them a try here in a month or two.
  4. New Release from Rapala on Feb 29th.
  5. Might be making my way down to SE Georgia in the coastal area to bass fish a couple of private farm ponds the last week of March. Anyone been having any luck down that way? Are they in prespawn mode yet? Any clues as to what the water temps might be during that week? Thanks.
  6. I do too, but to avoid having to take a dump while out on the water.
  7. AC Shiners all the way to the bank
  8. My uncle has a pond in Georgia that has been stocked with largemouth for the last 30+ years. He has bluegills as his primary baitfish. There have been multiple 10+ lbs caught out of it. He had a problem with algae a while back and added grass carp to keep it ate up.
  9. I am assuming the water temp for this lake is still in the upper 30s to low 40s. If so, I would hit the west shoreline where the lines on the topo is close together. During temps like this, bass like to be able to move high and low in the water column around structure without having to swim very far. I'm thinking try to fish the steep banks on the west shore of the lake. Work it slow. Maybe a shaky head, jig, or a lipless crank fished really slowly barely staying off the bottom. If you see any bluffs or rip rap along this area go for it. Fish like to stay suspended as opposed to laying on a flat or on the bottom. This is just my 2 cents, others may be able to give you better advice. Good luck.
  10. Yes the Rock Crawler is a fantastic lure. It does not have that sporatic action that Wiggle Warts are famous for but SPRO produces a good bait. I tend to look at it like this - "That bass is down there thinking do I want a hamburger or a hot dog today"
  11. Most of my wiggle wart strikes have came on this:
  12. I don't know if its just the area in which I live, but nothing has produced more river smallmouth strikes than the AC Shiner with silver, black back. The 300 series acts as a shallow diving crankbait and the 450 series acts as a floating jerkbait. I have fished these things in the Potomac River, the New River, and the Greenbrier Rivers in West Virginia, as well as the Slab Fork Creek and Pinnacle Creek. I have gone out wade fishing and caught over 100 small mouths of a day. Last year alone there was Smallmouth Bass of 3, 4, and 5lb + caught on the 300 series alone. I have to say this is hands down, the most lethal, deadly lure I have used in river fishing. In fact, I'm going to take the 300 series and give it go lake fishing for Largemouth this year just to see if I get any bites. Does anyone else have any experiences with these baits? I don't know what it is about them, but they absolutely produce bigger smallmouth bites than any other lure I have ever tried, and it's not even a comparison.

I fished the shadow rap deep in shad color fishing the following pattern.. Pause twitch twitch pause twitch twitch twitch pause the harder I twitched the more aggressive the strikes were. I guess the harder its twitched the more it spins frontwards to backwards in the water.
  14. I switched all of my crank baits and jerk baits with a red treble on the front of the bait. Gives the bait a look of bleeding under the gills while underwater. That is a Randy Howell tip from the Webinar a couple of weeks ago.
  15. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/catpage-YUMFISH.html?from=basres This thing just flat out intrigues me with those big eyes it has. Reckon this would work on a shaky head jig?
  16. What hooks do you guys use for a soft topwater frog such as a keitech noisy flapper or a Zoom horny toad? How do you rig these up.
  17. Rapala Shadow Rap Deep in Shad Color. No comparison.
  18. This. I try to stay as stealth as possible. Plus I like to hear baitfish scatter.

I caught Largemouth, Smallmouth, Crappie, Muskie, and even a blue gill on the Shadow Rap deep last year.
  20. Saw this on the back of the March/April 2016 In-Fisherman magazine.. It says "Bass haven't seen this before" Launching Bassmasters Classic 2016. Anyone know what this is?
  21. Interesting. Reckon this would be effective on Spinnerbait and Chatterbait trailers?
  22. Was in Dick's getting some Shaky Heads and Zoom Shaky Head Worms in Watermelon w/red flake and the guy working the department told me that he fishes shakys year round and him and the guys he fishes with dips the tails of every worm in chartreuse garlic dip and that they have seen their level of bites increase dramatically. Has anyone else tried this on soft plastics?
  23. Just saw another thread on this bait a few pages back. My apologies.
  24. These things look deadly.... https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Keitech_Noisy_Flapper_Frog_5pk/descpage-KETNSYF.html?from=basres
  25. What causes a weightless fluke to spin? Is it too heavy of a line or not rigged straight on the hook? A bit of an elementary question about them but I've never fished them before.
