  1. That thing is a tank, unless of course dwarfism runs in your family. In any case, that thing looks ginormous!!
  2. Well, one may have to modify that statement bit. In Alaska, went out on a halibut charter (Ninilchek, AK) and reeled in a 317 lb. barndoor. My best LMB though remains at just under 6 lbs.
  3. Carrying all the tackle to cover all techniques in a kayak could be a little challenging, but if you have a method for your madness, I'd say go for it. Personally I carry 3 or 4 setups that are versatile enough to be effective with various techiques, but definately go in with a plan for where I think the fish will be holding, based on water temp, time of year, etc.
  4. Yes, the Hugo area is chuck full of em
  5. Oh c'mon Semper, you could have embellished a little and said it was all that was left of Osama
  6. Definitely not on the beds yet, still in pre-spawn and eager to bite. That's my fishing buddy there in the pic with the 6lb 4oz'r in his hands. He caught most in 8 - 10 FOW using a spinner or a buzzbait. The other one is my 5lb. 3oz caught on a Keitech Swing Impact Fat 4.8. The were steadily going after it but then they weren't being too picky at anything we threw. Put a senko on for a while and was bit every time. I'd imagine they would have taken anything we threw. Overall good fishing but the weather kinda limited time on the water, rain I can handle, lightning and hail, time to take cover.
  7. Went to Hugo, OK this past weekend. Weather wasn't all that cooperative but did manage to land a couple of nice ones. Overall the bass were biting when we weren't taking cover from the hail.
  8. Caught a beaver while fly fishing the beaver dams in Vedauwoo Wilderness, WY. Wasn't paying attention to anything but the trout that were plentiful so I didn't see him until he was too close to get my line out of his way. It was a juvenile so not terribly big (or heavy) but did put quite a strain on the 3 wt. fly rod I was using. Long story short I snagged him right behind the right fore leg, needless to say he wasn't too happy about it. As I got him closer, it dawned on me that the hook had to come out. I quickly decided to snip the leader, saving myself and the beaver from further harm.
  9. Couldn't agree more. One of the best day's fishing I've had lately included me not catching a single fish. I was alerted by movement up in the brush but was too far to put an eye on what it was. I kept looking and finally realized it was deer. I noticed a bit of chasing going on and when the buck crested the hill, OMG...the biggest buck I had ever seen in the wild. Planning next year's hunt
  10. Hugo OK My buddy's 6.4 and my 5.3
  11. The disadvantages of Ethanol are well documented, and the cost cannot be measured at the gas pump only. I will not put ethanol in an outboard, small engine, or recreational vehicle period. Just not worth the paltry savings at the pump.
  12. Nice bass!! Looks to be the twin of one I caught yesterday, except yours has a couple extra lbs. and a few inches
  13. If it were me, I'd extend the trailer tongue.
  14. I don't believe GM does either, they may put their name on it, but that's about it
  15. Being that most of us tend to have a big eye, I'll put on my glasses, revise my estimate, and say 5lbs. 13oz.
  16. The weekend isn't looking too bad weather wise. I think I'll have to force myself to
  17. You can find parts for it on searspartsdirect. It shows an exploded view along with a list of available part, some have been discontinued. Click on the green text above.
  18. LoL, 21" wide, your nose is going to grow. Nice bass nonetheless and I agree, somewhere in the 6.5 to 7.5 lb. range. Congrats!!
  19. There are numerous environmental influences that make fish behave in a certain way. The moon phase, at least in my experience, doesn't seem to matter much.
  20. Aarons Magic 6" Straight Tail Roboworm nose hooked on a drop shot
  21. That may be true but never under estimate the ability of a fisherman to spend some serious coin on our little hobby/obsession. I have seen plastic boats sporting micro power poles more than once .
  22. Didn't anyone see that "bump" we just hit. C'mon fellow Okies, chime in with some new material. We just had the bassmasters classic here and noone posted anything about it. Water temp in my lake is 55, thing should start to happen real quick.
  23. I would definitely NOT go with the pressure treated option. The reason I say this is because pressure treated plywood is made of softer woods to facilitate absorption of the chemicals used in the treatment. It is not only softer, but has more wood deficiencies than marine grade plywood, which is made of Douglas Fir. Also, the glues used are different, pressure treated is resin based and designed to retard mold and fungi while marine grade glues are waterproof and cured with high heat and pressure. Put any quality water sealer or varnish of your choice on it, just make sure it's compatible with the carpet glue that you're using.
  24. saw this reel for $45 at wally world on clearance, didn't need one but the tackle toad just about got me. Already have 2
