  1. I only put one brake on. The rest can be adjusted on the outside according to the lures thrown.
  2. The 6925 is better suited for crappie/bluegill. Its a small reel. The 6930 is what you want. I think its 8lb/130yd or something close to that. Much better suited for what you listed. As far as rods go, I'd recomenned an *** rod. A 7'1 m or 7'3 M. I have the 7'3 m and use it mainly for plastics and jerk baits. I use it for small cranks, Lipless, and spinner baits as well. Sensitive, balanced, and strong backbone.
  3. lucky craft 100xd is my jerkbait of choice for the deeper ranges. I use 12lb sunline supernatural mono on mine and have no trouble landing 10+ lb stripers. Biggest landed was a 15lb striper.
  4. abu garcia c3 or c4 with the bait clicker. great reels for soaking bait.
  5. I like my lews tournament pro better than my curado E and I. I'd pick up another one if I was in the market for a reel within your bugdet.
  6. All of my pliers i bought are stainless steel...however they still rust. Looking for a pair that somone actually owns and can vouch that they dont rust from contact with water.
  7. Not sure if this is where I'm supposed to ask this question. Please move it to correct section if this is the wrong section. Anyway, I've bought three pairs of pliers and they all keep rusting on me. One danielson pliers, mustad, and berkeley. I kayak fish so they often get wet. Any pliers that wont rust even from constant contact from water?
  8. Two lines I suggest using that will make it easier is trilene xl in 10- 12lb and sunline super natural in 14-16lb. Both lines are limp with little to no memory. Should help you cast better. If that does not work try tuning your reel more.
  9. I heard good things about their cranks. They look good. Have to order some online soon and see how they produce myself.
  10. Three main colors or variants I use are bluegill, shad, craw. Cant go wrong with colors of that sort regardless of depth range. If I had to choose one color though, it probably be a sexy shad.
  11. I just started really getting into jerkbaits. Like you, I had no confidence in jerkbaits as it never worked. Whenever I worked one where I marked fish, I could not get one to bite. I worked them with pauses in between and with slack in my line to make the most action like the pros advise you to do. They just would not bite until I got ticked and just started jerking it fast without any pauses while maintaining a constant reel. As soon as I did that I landed an 8lb striped bass. Did the same cadence and landed a 3lb largemouth after.I've been doing rely good with this style. I think the most important factor is just figuring out the cadence and the fish. What works for me may not work for others. Once you figure out what they like then a jerkbait is deadly as i have found out. Jerkbait is definetely one of my go to baits now.
  12. I lost a lc pointer xd last sunday after hooking up to a DD striper. Thing took me for a ride on my yak and tangled my line down deep. Spent 20 minutes trying to get it back but couldn't.
  13. I still use my first gen revo inshore that was reviewed by tackle tour. This thing is banged up on the exterior but man is it a work horse. Still going strong for 5+ years now. Caught everything from, bat rays, leopards, bass, stripers, salmon, shad, etc. Great reel but they don't make them anymore. The newer gen revo nacl should be just as good you should look into one.
  14. For small fish in the 2-3 pound range, I usually just grab my line once the fish are tired out and bellied up next to my yak. For bigger bass or stripers I will never touch my line because of fear of losing my fish. I usually either use my fish gripper or grab them by the mouth if the opportunity presents itself. Landing big ones next to your yak without a net is tricky but I think it adds to the satisfaction when landing a big one!
  15. I carry two when on the bank. One spinning and one bait casting combo that covers a wide range of techniques. I carry four rods while on my kayak though.
  16. Thanks guys. I was actually looking at all the lures you guys mentioned. Now I just got to go pick up a few!
  17. I've been doing really good with the 6xds lately. However, I want to try out a few other deep divers that get me within that 15-20 ft range as well. Just wanting to expand the gear a little. Any favorites or recommendations besides the 6xd?
  18. I have a 4x hdi lowrance on my kayak. makes finding fish/structure so much easier. My Catch rate has gone up tremendously after installing the fish finder.
  19. Just got my fogy jigs in. First thing I did after opening them was giggle like a little girl. These things look awesome and build quality is top notch! Might replace my z man chatterbaits with an arsenal of these. Can't wait to try em out tomorrow. Oh btw also ordered two spinnerbaits as well. Those are sweet too!
  20. I'd suggest a fs12t from bass pro if you are looking for a kayak around 500 that is stable, built for fishing, and will allow you to carry a lot of gear. I have the bigger version (fs128t) and love it. It allows me to carry all my gear without feeling cluttered. It is stable and has a very wide platform. The fs12t should not be very different from my model. Don't forgot about the paddle. Don't go cheap!
  21. plano 3707 medium crank bait is what I use. Stores jerkbaits perfectly.
