  1. Thus far, BBB Trick Stick in Spinach Keitech Noisy Flapper in green frog Zoom Trick Worm in bubblegum Whopper Plopper 90 in bone Pit Boss in Green Pumpkin Purple
  2. Honestly, I'd love to have this type of water. Junebug UV Speed Worm, Texas weightless, Booyah Popping Pad Crasher, Keitech Noisy Flapper in green frog, Jackall Rhythm Wave...all produce. Now, where to fish is the key. Key on weeds first. Then wood.
  3. Weightless T-Rig. No questions asked.
  4. The second one...definitely. That's roughly the ratings of my Vengeance 66-6.
  5. I'm not undergunned at all. Castaway 7'3 Mag Bass frog rod. It's a beefy little guy. I love this rod.
  6. If I drag in a 9lb bass, I'd be the happiest sonofagun alive.
  7. Toads are probably my favorite baits. I love tossing a toad and buzzing it across the light weeds and mats.
  8. An update on this, I caught my first hollow body frog fish today, a magnificent beast of about 11 inches and 12 ounces. I must have brought in 2lbs of vegetation with him though...I missed 4 other bites on the frog.
  9. I can see how they would do that. Honestly, some of the choices are daunting.
  10. Thank you! You have given me more to think about. I appreciate it.
  11. I'm looking to throw 6 to 9" soft baits, Citizens, Rising Sons, etc along with some SWaver 168, 7" Shine Glide, etc.
  12. Well @Bluebasser86, what would you recommend? I've also been considering a muskie rod for 2-10oz, 7'6" long.
  13. Spirals are great, but not many off the shelf rods with them...
  14. Well, almost a week later, what did Kastking say, @Largemouth21?
  15. That's what I was thinking. Think I'll try to find it locally.
  16. Hey all, I want to start tossing some swimbaits, sub-2oz. I have acquired some smaller than 1.5oz, but was curious what rod, reel and line you'd recommend. Is a flipping stick sufficient for these without incurring the expense of a whole new rig? I was thinking 7'4-7'11 H rated for up to 3oz...like the 7'6 H Lightning Shock, 1/2-3
  17. I know quoting myself is pretty weird, but this is totally wrong now. All I've thrown for about a month is topwater. Noisy Flapper and Whopper Plopper 90...been amazing. My son was tossing an 1/8oz buzzbait yesterday and slayed them. I'm absolutely smitten with topwater now.
  18. Frogs 7'3" Mag Heavy Whopper Plopper 90- 6'6 M Whopper Plopper 130- 7' MH
  19. Your rod sounds good. What reel and line? I'd use braid, at least 30lb, up to 65 depending on cover. A straight up hookset will pin more fish.
  20. Most people would not notice guides that askew. They're not far enough out to affect a d**n thing. Faulty is not guides slightly, and I mean slightly, out of line. Faulty is a reelseat falling off, guide inserts coming out. I'm just pointing out that, while unfavorable, it's not going to affect anything. Again, they're not far enough out to affect anything. I guess if you want to send it back over that minute an issue, be my guest. I'd keep it and fish it.
  21. Really? You're worried about guides that are barely 10 degrees off? Fish the rod. It'll fish like it should. The size of guides there are such that they will not affect performance. Use it. It's a $60 rod. You didn't pay for an NRX, to expect perfect guide alignment is a bit much. I've used fly rods that are more out of whack than that and those guides are smaller, line bigger and more sensitive to guide placement as a result. So, if a fly rod didn't make a difference, this certainly won't.
  22. Man, my big bass for this year is right at 4. I'm jealous. Good on ya.
  23. Not too difficult. You said making ONE is cheaper, but that's false. If you don't have any of the materials, you're spending nearly $20 for the first one due to the cost of the tails, swivels and CPS. After the first one, it's an additional $6 for the frog. The materials are bought at once. Hope this clears it up.
  24. Therefore, the first one costs more than a Teckel.
  25. You still have to buy them.
