  1. Upsize to a 3" Hi Def Craw from Tackle HD on a ML or M rod and see what happens.
  2. I've bought probably 20 bags of Keitech, 6 ZMan, 2 spools of Nanofil, a 6-6 ML-F Lews Laser SG, Kastking Spartacus Plus, 3 types of Underspin heads...I think that's all in the past couple weeks.
  3. From shore, I routinely use finesse tactics. In fact, I don't know why I even use casting gear anymore. My baits range from 1/16oz flick shakes to Ned rigs with 1/16, weightless trick worms, all on 12lb Nanofil and a light fluoro leader.
  4. I am comfortable casting SSR5 on my M casting rod, but I've seen it give people hell. You'd be better served using a M spinning rod with either 8lb mono or maybe light braid and a leader.
  5. Heron, a gig, the list goes on.
  6. Honestly, fish slack water. If the Naugatuck is a slower stream, you can fish it much like a lake with the exception of noting that fish will hold on the up and downstream side of obstructions. One of my favorite river baits is the Hi-Def Craw from Tackle HD along with a Keitech Swing Impact or Easy Shiner 4".
  7. I have one and like it. It casts well. I prefer the Stealth, but it's a nice little reel at a great price.
  8. Kastking Sharky II or III
  9. Is he adept with seeing strikes versus feeling them? What tackle? I'd lean towards a Rebel Deep Teeny Wee Craw in color 77 personally.
  10. Haha...here she is. I guess 3+ based upon the length, measured 19+" to that spot on the rod and girth. Plus, she was just dense.
  11. I just caught one more on a Ned. She was a fat prespawn female over 3...
  12. Guys, perhaps some insight can be given to the following. I have been having an awful time catching fish. I'm not a newbie by any means and never have this trouble. The setups and lures I've been using are a M and MH casting tackle and a M spinning rod. I've tried everything I normally toss in spring, weightless finesse worms, light Texas rig finesse worms, Ned, traps, spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, soft swimbaits (Rage, Eco Pro, Little Dipper), swim jigs and even a swinging head with a 3.75" Hi Def Craw. I've caught 4 bass, lost 3 this spring. I really don't know what I'm doing wrong, but it seems that whatever I'm doing isn't working. Advice?
  13. I really don't toss inlines. I'm more of a soft plastics guy...Tackle HD HiDef Craws. They're the truth in rivers. Smaller waters I like the 3" in green pumpkin and the brown and orange. I also have some of the bigger ones for lakes and bigger waters. They look real and the fish love it.
  14. It's been a slow affair, ned rig and T-Rig finesse worm. I'm ready for some stable weather and warmer waters. They should be in prespawn, but when waters haven't hit 52 degrees, they are still in late winter patterns it appears.
  15. Ive had a ROUGH spring so far catching fish. They just don't seem to be moving like they have in years past. I've tried the normal spring baits and haven't even had a decent strike.
  16. I use a 6'6" MHF for those techniques.
  17. I'm a fan of letting cover dictate. If I'm pitching it along a dock piling or tree, I wacky rig. If it's in weeds, T-rig, but the Neko is on my radar, just gotta grab a pack of #2 hooks next time I'm out. I have small nails to add weight to one end.
  18. My favorite colors are a shad color and a bluegill color swim jig, but on swimbaits, I love bluegill flash and any number of RI Little Dipper colors.

I was a member. It expired last month and I have no intention of reupping. It simply stopped being about the 2A and more a political issue. I'm a big 2A supporter, carry a Taurus PT111G2 in my truck, but they lose me when they trot folks like Dana Loesch out there spewing vitriol and hate like she did. That's my stand without getting political.
  20. In muddy waters, I tend to lean towards junebug and other nearly black hues. Clear, your choice...greens and light browns for me.
  21. I'm looking at a Speed Demon for frogging and loading it with 50lb braid just for the task. I can't wait.
  22. I'm looking at a 7' HF right now and hope to get into frogging this year. I can't say I've ever even tried, but it looks fun as hell.
  23. There are some damned nice autos or semi-autos on the market that work well. Dont write them off as a gimmick, they've been around for a LONG time.
  24. Finesse worm normally, colors depend on situation...motor oil/chartreuse, watermelon, junebug...murky, clear and muddy...
  25. For my fishing, I have cut my choices down to using Hi-Def Craws from a Missouri company, Tackle HD, both their 3 and 3.75" models, preferably on their Stealth jigheads or on custom poured swinging heads. For creatures, I really like the Pit Boss in both 3 and 4". They get fished on a weedless jighead like the Owner Bullethead. Finesse worms are Zoom. Lastly, swimbaits, Eco Pro Swing Shad. With that said, I still have too much.
