Is kayak fishing frustrating?
The wind comment made me giggle. I went to an Ozark creek Tuesday this week and noticed, via the radio, the wind was forecast to be 30 plus from the south. Well, this creek flows north so I didn't think anything of it. It turned a 4 mile, 8 hour fishing float into a 3.5 hour float that I couldn't slow enough to cast. It was still amazing, beautiful, etc. Trust me, controlling a boat in wind is tough when you start. Canoes are worse, by far. Find spots to shelter yourself and make your casts count. I'm building me a stakeout pole for shallow stuff tomorrow.

Kids and Lures
My son, now 12, started at 7 with a 2" Power Grub on a 1/16 head thrown on an UL. Now, he can competently fish whatever he wants on his baitcast combos. He caught 2 the other night on a chatterbait. His first love is the Whopper Plopper though.

Ticks
You are correct, the antibodies are in you for life. For example, hot, acidic coffee brings back the debilitating headaches I suffered. I pulled a tick off me one day and four days later had a 103.5 fever for 3 days, body aches, couldn't move my eyes side to side as it felt like someone had pliers and was yanking my ocular nerves. It took about 5 days of a HIGH dose of doxycycline before I felt relief at all. The doctor did a blood test, but when I told her that my eyes were hurting like they were, she said she didn't need to send it off. The diagnosis couldn't be more clear. She gave me a 30 day course of doxy. It is one of the worst feelings ever. I caught it pretty early and still have that headache issue. Please take care of yourself.

Ticks
Pants, boots, detailed self checks. I've had Lyme Disease. The disease doesn't normally transmit until an infected tick has been attached for 24 hours, in my case, like 18. Check yourself after you get done, but yes, spray your boots and pants.

The impact of breaking off.
Hey, which lake are you referring to? If I'm not mistaken you're talking about the one really close to you, aren't you?

How to target bigger bass?
Do you have pics? I'm asking because I find the numbers of big fish you're claiming to be a little unreasonable from a campus pond that is undoubtedly no larger than 5 acres. With that said, I've caught my biggest on a chatterbait, 7" Triple Trout and several when younger on a 1/4oz Terminator T1 spinnerbait.

Older TD reels
No boxes here either. I know the PVA has a deeper spool. These reels have been proven over and over. I'm sending my 2-X reels out soon for cleaning and carbontex. Pretty psyched to fish my S today at a local pond though.

"Buzzing" sound from Abu Garcia LTX
Hedgehog is my favorite. Reel Demon is a good, affordable upgrade. Acetone followed by oil is the way to go. Also, on the palm side, look at the spool, take a q tip with a drop of oil around the rim of the spool where the brakes ride.

Older TD reels
I'm just getting into these reels, but my S looks almost new and the X models look like they've survived a nuclear winter. They're still super smooth though. Can you provide pics of this flipping switch? Is there no thumbar? I'm going to be looking to grab a few more and maybe cycle some of my Fuego CT off of commonly used rods. Mine are all HVA models, no H or HSDF or anything else. What is the difference?

Older TD reels
Anyone use the older Team Daiwa S or X reels? I just got 3, 2 X and 1 S. I put the S on my Loomis SBR752 with 12lb copolymer. I love this reel. The X models I am going to send out to be cleaned and have bearing and drag upgrades done. I am, however, missing one screw from the handle side plate on one of them. My one complaint is how the finish goes to hell on the X. They're rock solid mechanically though.

Which rods run on the light side of "medium"?
Damiki runs light. Their Medium Angel EX I have is a super light medium. My MH isn't medium heavy at all. My M Loomis is perfect for shat I use a M for (1/4oz spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, jigs, chatterbaits, Ploppers up the 75 in weight. I just got a Damiki 6'6 H, so time shall tell.

First time I'm going to be spooling a reel up with straight fluorocarbon, anything I should know?
Advice? Don't.

Looking for suggestions
I just received my first Loomis rod, a 752SBR, I assume it's pre IMX, but I love this thing. What, if any rods have they or do they offer in the same length (6'3"), no longer than 6'6" MH (baits up to 1oz)? These will be paired with a pair of TD-X with upgraded ceramic bearings and carbontex. Used is great, even preferred. Also, if need be, bring other suggestions to the table, brand, series, etc. Thanks.

Skipping a bait
I started with a Huddgill. It skips forever and a day. I moved to a toad, then a Keitech and a chatterbait...all skip well.

Stealing a pros spot during a tournament
Honestly, why alter your plans? Their tournament does not give them ownership of the water. If they behave like a-holes, out them on all forms of media. I'd probably set a camera up, just to have my own backside covered. Go fish.

Ice out on midwestern ponds
I know that. I'm just wanting some guidance in the right direction. Bottom fishing is out. It can't be done. Baits get lost in the junk down there and can't be seen. This is option #1 this week when I go out. On the bottom is out. It simply doesn't work. @Bluebasser86 can verify it isn't even an option here this time of year. I'll have to try it. Maybe it'll work for me. Spinning rod and the little Yozuri baits I grabbed it is. Ned rig for backup.
