Your Favorite Sqaurebill Setup?
W&M Rick Clunn. 7 mh glass. Quantum kinetic pt. 6:1 ratio. Left handed 10 lb pline cxx Sk. Kvd. 1'5. And 2.5. If you like lefty reels, try one for squares. Great application.

How Hard Is It To Learn How To Use Left Hand Retrieve If You Use Right?
I'm right handed. But use both. Price can be my determining factor sometimes. I would rather pitch with a left reel. I would rather cast square bills with a left. It is faster and I can get a better rythym with a left reel. All things equal I would now choose left.

My First 3 Carp In The Us
The carp are spawning and 8 plus pounders can be seen all over. Makes a bass fisherman think about how fun it would be to fight. I caught a 4 or 5 lb sheepshead today which was a fun fight. Sometimes I think if you are putting it back anyway wouldn't you like to catch the biggest fish regardless of the species

Gander Mt Fluorocarbon
Curious about that XT. I have had th president baitcaster for 12 or 13 yrs and it still performs well. I purchased a closed out trion baitcaster last year for $60 and it works about like the president. If you arent as happy with it it could be the line. I'm not familiar with it but a 15 lb floro most likely won't cast as good as 12 lb xl. [ quote name=jakob1010" post="1775604" timestamp="1432343598]Went in and bought a 400 yard spool of Gander Mt Fluorocarbon 15 lb test today. Spooked it up on my new (to me) Pflueger Supreme XT (Thanks Stu!). Seemed a little wirey, but that's coming from a guy who's used nothing but 12 lb Trilene XL the last 12 years. I made sure to be careful in spooling it and tying my knots. Hopefully I can get used to the stiffness. Its also right at the 'correct' diameter of .015 inches. I'll fish it this weekend and report back with my findings.

How Do You Store Your Outboards: Stabil, Drain The Tank?
I've heard a lot of different theory's from what I would consider reputable sources. I put in stable fill the tank and even leave gas in the engine. Never a prob on a vmax 150.

Thoughts On Plastic Crawdads?
I like the big bite baits. They are always priced well at tackle warehouse. You did try other baits in 6 hours, correct? I got shut out over 4 hours earlier this year.

Crank Lures Looping In Circles?
I always tie on the groove of the split ring. If you don't it can screw up the action and the way the lure tracks. I can see how you can argue to tie around the fat of the swivel but with a palomiar I have never had an issue.

Crankbait Reel
5.4:1 on deep cranks. 14 plus. Beyond that it depends on the fisherman. I fish fast so I purposly have some lower ratios just to see if they catch better

Must-Have On-Boat Tools And Gadgets
I have a pair of rapala clippers ( like nail clippers ). They have a hooked line pick and a small knife that rolls out. When I first started using baitcasters the pick was great. I usually don't get backlashes that massive anymore. I use the clippers to cut line all the time and it works well on braid too. Has anyone mentioned sunscreen yet

Casts Per Bass?
No I don't count . On my lake most days 1 in 30 would be typical. My buddy fishes slow and I fish fast and throughout the year I would say we are equally as successful. He probably catches a fish 1 in every 15 or 20 cast.

Sunny Or Shady Side
My family vacations on Table Rock and Lake of the Ozarks. I fish the mornings and we do other water sports the rest of the day. I always make it a point to fish the shade, usually with cranks late in the afternoon and many times my best fish of the trip can come at that time.

6 Foot 6 Inch Heavy?
I had one given to me and yes pitching in close quarters would be its best use or if you needed a short rod for travel. Without that being a need of mine, it didn't take me long to tire of this rod and I haven't had it with me for a couple of years.

Crank Lures Looping In Circles?
I wasnt impressed by the scatter rap I purchased and as far as the other two they could be questionable as well. If you usually dont have that issue with other cranks and your line isnt somehow tangled in the bait, I would blame it on the individual baits.

P-Line Cx Vs. Floroclear ?
I use a double uni knot for braid to leader. Mono to floro, I would most likely not do. Unless the lines are small you are going to end up with a larger knot and unless the leader is short it would be rough going through the guides. You could do it for pitching and be fine.

What Rod And Reel Is Best?
It depends on what type of soft plastic fishing you want to do and what size cranks you want to throw. If you want to cast larger and deeper running cranks as well as pitching jigs or swimming larger worms then around a 7' MH with a good backbone and a softer tip would work well. If you want to throw smaller cranks and more subtle soft plastic presentations then a 7' m would be your route. Crossing over would leave you with a rod that is lacking for the presentation.

Fishing The Wind?
All things being similar I would choose to fish the water which has a ripple on it. So yes if the wind is out of the south, I would fish a northern bank. I would say for a wind to have a real effect on an area it should be blowing into it for a few hours or more and be blowing at least 10 mph with gust.
-
Fishing The Wind?
For me yes to some degree. Of course it is best if it is blowing into a location you like to fish at any time. Try to envision which way the bait is moving and present your bait in that manner. On my lake seagulls can sometimes be near locations I am considering fishing as well. Although I have seen colder water days when I can be more successful fishing the non wind blown water bank which has the son warming it. I do like the wind so I usually start there.

Squarebills And Lost Fish
Great advice Primetime. If you aren't afraid of them burying in the weeds or cover you could loosen your drag. I do agree with the not a good hook set theory, If you have your drag looser make sure you have your thumb on the spool when you sweep your rod to help with the set. It is worrisome when you see you have a 3+ pound fish on one back treble, you then know there is no room for error on your landing and the right equipment makes that much easier.
