  1. Agree. He should be able to feel it. Maybe a bigger bobber and weight so he can know when he is in contact. A patient helpful partner will go a long way.
  2. Can I get that 8 min back. LoL. Just joking. Actually that is pretty cool. I been thinking about some type of camera myself. It is always interesting to watch the mechanics of a fishrrman.
  3. Yes on president. A 20 lb braid would cast great. I use a double uni for a leader of you want one.
  4. Also if you are in a creek the want it moving with the current.
  5. I don't target them a lot but I have caught some nice ones on a jerk bait small cranks and lipless cranks. Bladed jigs. The big ones are a great fight when you have one. They have a thick mouth so once they are hooked enjoy the fight they prob aren't getting off
  6. You are talking about on the reel, correct? It depends on the type. I have had braid last many seasons. Mono and copolymer can get through one season or more oif you are ok with its performance. Floro I don't trust as much. It's seems tempromental to me. I would change it at least 2x per season. I don't use floro anymore unless just for a leader off of braid.
  7. 10 lb on spinning cast great. I have power pro 40 lb on a baitcaster and it digs in and can stop suddenly on cast. Others seem fine with it. Maybe 60 would solve it. The 40 does pitch great. If you are a long caster you may not care for braid.
  8. Love the anaconda. Have had luck moving it fast subsurface. I will have to lighten it up and try it on the top.
  9. GREAT DAY..... Good job.
  10. If you have nuts on your post you can just stick the wire under them and tighten. Maybe not the best option but it is quick and easy.
  11. I have 2 and I have caught a lot of nice fish on them. great action and flash. I did break the bill on one and I didnt notice until later. I had wrapped a suspend strap around the front hook to get it to suspend nose down. I have still been catching fish with it just doesnt run as deep. This spring I have been fishing it over grass with some luck.
  12. Agree, you would be able to get a longer cast on a light bait. Unless you are targeting certain areas and our more comfortable with a baitcaster. I throw small squares, sk series 3 to 5 and rapala dt 6 and 10 and shad raps on my light baitcaster all the time.
  13. I have the Lews tourney speed spool on my duckett 7' m and casting a 1/4 oz or small cranks isnt a problem. You need to be using a 10lb small diameter line to get your best cast. I have never put smaller on a baitcaster, it may be fine. The speed spool has both magnetic and centrifugal breaks which may also assist in throwing light baits, because you can loosen up the spool tension. I believe the BPS pro qualifier has the 2 breaks as well.
  14. Never owned one, but I have considered it a couple times. The number of great reviews is unmatched. Unless you can find a good sale on something else that would most likely be a good choice
  15. That sounds depressing. I don't know your area but isn't there something else within 2 hours except for the dink spot?? Google map and look for an area.
  16. I would go with a low gear ratio on a light stick because it won't bend as much when cranking at a lower speed. I have a light stick with a Lews tourney speed spool. Also have a bb1 and tatula I would reccomend.
  17. Go 6'6. As you increase your techniques you will be glad you did. You can pick up the line quicker with a longer rod and it will play the fish better. For one rod I would go mh. I like the dukett ghost. Go out and feel the rods don't go to stiff or to light for an all purpose rod.
  18. I have this rod too. I don't know if you have felt it but it is whippy. Which can be great for med depth cranks. Small squares. I don't throw big baits with it. Do love the rod. Mine is paired with a Lews tourney speed spool. 4:3 to 1. I like the ratio because it doesn't bend the rod as much. Fighting fish is fun with this rod they don't get off.
  19. Go for it, If it works great, if not then you may have wasted a few hours. with similar sized hooks and proper spacing for the situation, I would think it could be fished successfully.
  20. I use the marine batteries from Wal Mart, Everstart I have had good luck with them and they are reasonable. make sure it is a deep cycle battery. I would guess a marine battery from a farm and fleet, menards or whatever you have down there would be fine. just make sure you put a low charge on them as soon as you are done for the day and you should get a good life out of it.
  21. agree. It seems like there is always a trade off, for you it must be swimming ( Great exercise and if you are on a team now will most likely be your only chance for that ). Around here guys either seem to fish or golf and if someone is doing a lot of both it seems to me like they traded something else for that time.
  22. Your 16, getting time shouldn't be to tough if that is really what you want to do. If you have chores/obligations at home get them done so that isn't standing in your way and the powers that be are satisfied. To maximize your time, just make sure your equipment is ready and can be quickly accessed, so when the time comes you can go.
  23. 1448 min. If you are going to have 2 fisherman in there and you want to stand, you will need some size or your going to be trying to balance every time someone moves
  24. square bill med to deep crank Jig t rigged worm spook type bait
