Eatin' a little humble pie--difference between pond and reservoir fishing
I don't know that lake but it's the same principle. You have to look for those spots that have something different. Any ripwrap you could crankbait on ? Any small bridges that the water goes under ? Corner edges on bridges are good ambush points. Any main lake points that have something different ? Where I fish we have giant weedbeds that all look the same.We have to find spots that are different. Try deeper structure also.

Bass have been known to come up 30 feet to hit a topwater.Shallow I've seen them go over 10 feet. Then again I've seen where you have to hit them in the head with the bait.

"KNOT" passing through guides easily
Ditch the leader. Use flouro braid or copolymer by themselves.

Why are you not using a digital reel?
Lews Tournament Pro. IMHO it casts almost completely trouble free and further than any reel I've ever seen. And a dc won't catch me any more fish.

Why are you not using a digital reel?
generally the better the components used and the higher the technology equals better quality. time will tell. the original post was why dont you use a dc reel not what makes a reel quality. dc reels have a good reputation from what i know.

The lube port is there to help drain water if reel is dunked and it gives direct access to gear teeth for a dab of grease. The lube port was never intended to be a substitute for regular maintenance. i would use nothing under 50 on a baitcaster.

Abu Garcia really disheartened me today
So being as no reels are made here what do you use? I will bet even though a reel says made in Japan it has parts made in other countries. It's like cars. Japanese manufacturers buy airbags and other parts from the same people Chrysler and GM do. That's why when one has airbag recalls so do the others. Guaranteed its the same thing with reels. A car doesn't have to be made with all American parts to be stamped made in USA. I'm sure neither does a Japanese assembled reel have to have all Japanese parts to be stamped made in Japan.
