  1. Anyone have any info on when these are suppose to come out? I know it was September but their website says nothing about it. I am looking to get a couple of the silver or black max reels for my little brother and girlfriend when they come fishing and would like to get them ASAP. THanks in advance. Corey
  2. Good to know becase the 703C is the one I was looking at
  3. I have mine on a St. Croix Premier 6'6" MF and it seems to be a decent fit. However I am going to be ordering a Dobyns rod here shortly and will be switching the reel over to that to use with finesse jigs, senkos, flukes, etc. I like the high speed to recover line for those type of presentations.
  4. Got a decent one tonight, she acted huge as she was splashing in the weeds which are newly flooded. Sorry the quality is terrible but I am just getting used to a camera with a timer and the LCD screen being broke. About 18 inches and 2.5 lbs.
  5. Not until someone else pointed that out and other than a genetic defect all I could think was a big snapping turtle?
  6. Well the last 3 times I have been out have produced on dink, and tonight I finally got that off my back. Then I saw the weather this afternoon, barometer at 30.15 and steady, winds out of the north...where to go. So I head to one of my honey holes hoping to fish the dam and get a good bite with the wind blowing right into the dam. I have a spinnerbait and a buzzbait rod handy and I start out with the spinnerbait. Lots of floating weed patches made it a little tough, but 2nd bite, wham! Set the hook and feel some good weight behind it. The fish makes a run and I go to stop her, but I am using a BPS reel with a weak drag not my Revo, crap. So I paly her out and I see the spinnerbait is not hooked well when she gets close, she goes to make another head shake and I drop the rod tip down and opposite way she is going. She stayed under and I landed her shortly after. She was 3-12 on the scale and a very healthy fish. The pic didnt turn out the best because the view finder is broken and I am not use to the timer on this camera. This one represents her ok. I caught 2 more fish the rest of the night, one dink and another fish that was very fat and maybe 2.5 lbs. The night ended with my snapping my buzzbait off in mid cast because of a backlash and overpowering casts into the wind. The wind did not help my cause all night but I was glad to finally land a decent fish after all the rain late last week. Corey
  7. Get the Revo SC from Cabelas and put more into the rod...or at least thats what I would do. I like the high gear ratio for jigs and plastics because it allows you to recover slack more quickly prior to hookset.
  8. RWHusker, That is absolutely amazing you guys caught fish on Friday, way to go. The buzzbait also seems to kill the fish there, it was about all you could get bit on in May. Nice fish and way to stick out conditions. Corey
  9. Revo SC and a Bionic Blade or Cabela's similar rod so you only have to pay shipping from one place.
  10. JIm, I wasnt saying I thought you had called me out, but in Iowa its a little far fetched, regardless of the truth. There are those honey holes though that make it all worth while. My problem with this pond is after 40 or so fish over 4 lbs, there have been 3 between 2-3 lbs, which makes me think a few years from now I will be finding somewhere else to fish. Oh well the circle of life.
  11. JImzee, It took me a long time to get used to 2 or 3 good bites in 3 hours time...I was use to alot more than that but this pond makes it worth casting your shoulder off. We also spent the majority of a few weekends at this pond...I wish Darrin would chime in to make me not look like an over-exaggerater.
  12. Global minimum wage would fix alot of issues world wide
  13. I would say about 1.5-2lbs average, but this year I have been fishing a new pond that spits out an insane avarage, I would say above 4 lbs. Went there with Hawghunter and his buddy one weekend and I think we had 12 fish over 4 lbs out of this pond and 4 smaller...if you get a bite you may want to hold on.
  14. Well I got a chance to fish at the hawgz unofficial outting with my little brother who I do not get to fish with often. He smoked me and Darrin(Hawghunter) at the lake and at a pond Darrin was nice enough to take us to. It was my first time fishing with him for a weekend this year, his first time in a boat on a lake, and his first time catching biggest bass out of everyone for the weekend. I was happy to get beat Here is his big fish, which was also his PB for the year as he spends alot of time 4 wheeling anymore. Corey
  15. I use to think that too about Bill Dance and Rowland Martin and Jimmy Houston, and those guys let me down too >
  16. Yup, I hunt. Primarily deer and pheasant. Getting more into goose hunting, and I enjoy an occassional rabbit or turkey hunt. Shoot coyotes during down time(between hard water and begginning of spring. Guns include a Mossberg 835, a Remington Wingmaster 20 ga, a Remington 7600 30 .06. A Ruger 22 .250, a ruger 10/22, a side by side .410, and a Mossberg 500 with a slug barrel and red dot site. Theres a few others but I dont use them much.
  17. Thank you, I got my buzzbait today and ordered some evolution jigs just a few minutes ago. I will definetely give a report and hope these 2 baits are as effective as megastrike is. Thanks again
  18. Now if FC would of said as good looking as Avid's daughter than Russ and Avid would of pounced on him, jk Those are sweet looking baits but not sure theyd do much good in God's country (Iowa).
  19. Until every fish gets stuck at 12 inches. I have seen it a few times happen to what was thought to be great ponds, and no one would touch them as far as selective harvest, now you can catch one about every cast that is 10-12 inches. But that doesnt sound like your pond, hope you found a honey hole.
  20. just say pink ;D actually pink is one of my secret colors here for a spinnerbait The plastic pourer calls it bubblegum so thats what I call it too ;D
  21. Nice fish and I wish I got to fish in the mountains like that. :-/
  22. SHould be fine if she swam off ok and wasnt bleeding too bad. My little brother brought ina 4.5 lber I hooked one time, had it right in the gill bleeding all over. Released her after getting alot of water thru her gills for 10 min. That fall I caught a fish with what I call a dead gill(real pink, not red) in the exact same pond and same sized fish. She should make it.
  23. 5 lbs 11 oz, big head, skinny body...but still one hell of a fish. Congratulations and now you have something to chase after.
  24. Dark-black, greens, browns, etc or bubble gum. Only problem is I had a limited supply of bubble gum and last time I used them they caught fish when the natural dark colors were not.
  25. Exactly, I like using mine for a jig or t-rig. I dont think you need 7:1 for a buzzbait but it helps a ton when you have to reel up slack quick and set the hook. And as far as moving these baits that is done with the rod anyway.
