  1. Are you use to a short reed call or a flute type...big diference? For the short reed hit up otter calls and the flute call big river calls are the easiest and best sounding flutes I have hear.
  2. No frogtog, seems like you may be getting one of those said "S" reels my friend! I prefer those crappy AB reels And of the BC kind...haha!
  3. Finally a chance to give away that junk Shimano reel I bought ;D HA, take that Roadwarrior!
  4. Would you like to place a wager on that???
  5. Pheasant, quail, dove are all excellent. I have yet to get a hungarian partridge but hear they are quite tasty too. Goose is very tasty when prepared and cooked right. Duck(if you shoot the right ones) can be just as good as goose. There are sone ducks that are not good though. Either way like Catt said preparation is key and knowing how to cook it(waterfowl is not to be overdone). Oh wild turkey is one of my favorite things to eat period!
  6. Man you scared me when you said my wife Amy is 13! However once I read farther I came to my senses and congrats on the baby on the way!
  7. I think that Hawaii, regardless of strength of schedule should get a shot. No one has proven they are a better team by beating them on the field and why not let them prove themselves to a Major Conference by putting them in the title game. I just do not understand the system or how they can claim someone to be a national champion because a computer says they should be in the game. If Hawaii wipes the floor with Georgia, is there any chance of them sharing the title? If so why make one game the national title game? :
  8. I would say LSU got lucky that 2 teams lost, one being a huge upset to get them into the National Title game...did they go out and beat those teams to get in, no the other teams missed their opportunity which opened the door for LSU.
  9. Aggressive defenses have alot of penalties...end of story!

Shooting small bucks would be my guess ;D
  11. Hawaii, oh wait that is not an option : I really do not see why the little guy never gets a chance to make a statement...neither of these teams have proven to anyone that they are the best team in the nation. That being said I like Big T will be watching the Rose Bowl rooting for the Illini...and Westpalmdude, OSU did play Illinois who turned out to be a Big Ten shocker, although they did get beat ;D
  12. You did the right thing by ignoring the situation and I tend to be able to do the same...however back in college there were 2 situations with female friends where some very blatantly disrespectful drunks got surprised then hit the floor
  13. Any woman that takes that good of a mug shot can rough me up all she wants! ;D
  14. I did not want to sound ungrateful for the opportunity to harvest the buck, but he was not what I had in mind at the beginning of season but work got in the way. I live less than 15 miles from where the world record was harvested and a recent typical buck that may push the typical record, so I compare it Fish_Chris catching a 10 lber, he is happy(as I am) but it is not the brute that he is after. Either way I hope I can connect with one of the brutes I have seen this weekend during shotgun season.
  15. Matthews Q2XL pulling 70 lbs. I tried taking some pictures with the bow but being on the timer and a tripod the best pictures turned out without a bow on the deer.
  16. 6'6" or 7' MH or H, fast tip is a must. Also for the reel you want a high speed reel to retrieve slack quickly. I like 6'6" rods and a 7.1:1 would be a good gear ratio for the reel...although thats JMO
  17. Climbing stands are great...if you get a good comfortable one(API, Summit, Lonewolf). However some of the cheaper ones have less than sturdy components and are no where near as comfortable or quiet to hunt out of. My climbers stay on trees through season because I hunt private ground but if I was hunting public ground I would get a lightweight and quiet climber to help in the process...best of luck
  18. Sorry for the long story, just excited: Well Saturday night was quite the night, I was sitting in a new stand I now call stand X, because it is on the X as they say. I got up into the climber about 2:40 and not 5 minutes later had a doe come in behind me through this timber bottom and out through an old bottom pasture to a creek line. Not more than 2 minutes later a 6 pointer that must be part mule deer came flying through trying to follow her trail with his nose to the ground. He ran a few circles and found her trail again and followed it right to her. Then about 2 minutes later I hear something running behind me...and man was he a bruiser, a big 10 or 12 pointer that I never got a chance to count because he was busting through with his nose to the ground. I mouth grunted at him and then snorted before he stopped to look for a second and continued to follow that does trail, almost like it was pre-rut. After having those 3 deer come behind me I made a decision I normally would not have, I turned my climber around facing the complete opposite direction(from where I was facing) to where all the deer action was. The reason I would not have normally done this was because of the noise it made when I was certain that there were some deer close. My reasoning was that whats the point of scaring off deer if you cannot shoot them!?!? So I continued to have does and a few small bucks around for the next 45 minutes until I see a doe coming from the same place that the trailed doe earlier came from. I was praying that she would bring that bruiser back through and saw a deer behind her that had a decent set of horns, but not the dark horns the big boy had. I stood up getting ready for them to make their way through. I saw him head on and told myself I would shoot him. If it was 3 weeks ago I believe he would of gotten a pass but thats bowhunting. Anyways the doe dragged him right through the main trail about 20 yards away. I grunted when he got to a good shooting lane, standing broadside, and he stopped perfect....hit the release and thump! Although I thought I saw my flethcings sticking out of the entry side and got worried for a minute about finding blood on the damp, snow melted ground. Well he bucked, ran about 10 yards and looked back at me...which gave me an eeiry feeling from a previous lost buck. After he made his way about 40 yards I noticed him stumble, and then he dissappeared behind some brush and I never saw him come out. I heard some rustling and about 30 minutes later(4:15 ish) I decided to get down and look. He had a heck of a blood trail, even in crappy tracking conditions and I strolled up to him taking his last breaths. I decided to back out and figure out how to get him out of there(200 yard drag through the timber up hill). So I call the farmer who gets his brother to drive down 40 yards from the deer with the tractor, load him into the tractor and from there into the truck. That made life easier too! Got him home and gutted him out in a field that my buddy owns in a CRP field, then it was home to celebrate. He is not exactly what I hoped for at the beginning of season but fit the bill with shotgun season quickly approaching. I also wanted to say that slick trick broadheads are everything they claim to be. Huge holes, big blood trails, and tough as nails. The entrance wound was through the back part of the shoulder and left a hole I could fit my thumb through. The guys at the locker could not belive he was bow shot. Slick Trick also has great customer service as my initial pack and had one ferrule that wouldn't accept blades and they overnighted new ones along with some replacement blades and an extra ferrule. They also fly true to field points which is something I cannot say for a muzzy...along with better holes. Thanks for reading! Corey
  19. Yep growing up within a 3 wood from the Mississippi it was a great season but would of been fantastic with a win over the Hawks. Either way we put up a better record and also heading to a bowl game. The future is bright.
  20. Thanks for the topic, it reminded me to turn down all the drag settings for the winter
  21. 4 inches of rain, post cold front, and muddy water! :-/
  22. Kansas is finally waking up a little although it may be too late, but it is college football and I hope they pull it out and run the table. Lord knows we need another basketball school as the national footbal champ. :
  23. Called Reed's this afternoon after breaking ice all morning to duck hunt and asked where my rod was. They told me that it was delivered Tuesday and signed for by a Pete Ashley. Hmmm, I never saw the delivery guy and was home most of the day, I live in a town of 101 people and know no one by that name. Not sure what happened but I spoke to Reeds Wednesday and they told me it should be here Wednesday so I am a little confused but either way they said another one would be shipped out first thing MOnday morning and offered to overnight it. I appreciated their service and the guy never questioned me once about receving the rod so I told them to save their money and just ship it standard. Even though I would like to play with my rod this weekend they are taking care of me although I am still a little perplexed on where the rod is and who signed for it. Corey
  24. Just to clarify none of my backordered items were rods, reels, or combos...they were lures and other small items.
  25. I will no longer shop there for another reason...backorder and shipping. There were 2 orders that come to mind where I ordered a lot of miscellaneous items for hunting, fishing, clothing, etc. I placed and confirmed the orders and had no clue that any items were backordered or never going to be delivered until my package showed up in a fairly small box and I was still charged shipping for the entire order amount even though half of the order was backordered and never sent. I called BPS and their response was that their system did not recognize the order was on backorder when I ordered and the system did not recalculate shipping because that was what I agreed to pay. 12.95 shipping for a small fairly light box that did not contain half of the packages then a BS response turned me off to BPS. If I cannot find it at Cabela's or Reeds then I will look elsewhere. Corey
