OIL CHANGES AT THE LOCAL WAL-MART DON'T DO IT!!!!!
Took my truck to a quick shop oil change place and watched them use power tools to take off and put on the drain plug. The next oil change I had, not to my surprise, the drain plug was stripped and although it was only $4 I was still hot because I knew why it was stripped.

Double TKO!
If I remember right the same thing happened to Matt Hughes when he won the title 3 or 4 years ago. I cannot remember the guys name but Hughes even said he went to sleep for a minute, but gained consciousness quick enough for the ref not to realize it. I also agree that no contest was a good call, Maynard could of pulled his head back and not had to "rest" for a minute or so. ;D

Saw Bass trying to eat birds today
I saw a bass suck down a duckling one time...well I guess I cant verify that it was a bass but the only other thing in this pond is crappie and bluegill. A hen was swimming with her 5 ducklings making all sorts of racket when I saw a huge explosion near the last duckling. Needless to say there were only 4 ducklings after the blow up and they hurried to shore. It was one of the neatest things I have seen. However I agree that a carp would probably not eat a duck.

Went out to a new private pond...
It must be true. This was pulled out of the same pond the day before I was there. going back tomorrow armed! Well good to see my theory holds in 3 states now, people think I am crazy whenever I bring it up. Go catch a biggun Robert!

Went out to a new private pond...
Robert, Looks like a great place, a couple great catches, and Darrin (HawgHunter) and I have a theory that cow crap grows big fish...at least it seems to be true in Iowa and now Cali. Nice job man.

ALL STAR RODS SUCK!
I have a variety of rods, and I beat the hell out of them. Still the only rods I have broke were when swinging fish onto shore, and thats a total of 2 rods (including some cheapos). I think there is a user error somewhere.

Zebco 33 for Bass Fishing?
Ive caught 2 of my 4 biggest bass on them, but you wont see me use one anymore. They are good for beginners but there are better options for people wanting to get mroe serious. But they will catch fish.

Great day gone BAAADDDD!!!
Sounds like one of those situations I walk away shaking my head thinking there should be laws against people like that reproducing. We have all probably been there Muddy.

What are your strong points ?
My strong points are that I love to learn, I have learned so much from fishing with Darrin (hawghunter) about fishing jigs, worms, slowing down...just so much stuff I never thought of before. The other strong point is I keep it fun...yelling and screaming after landing a big fish. Not quite Ike style but you know when Im having fun...which is alot of the time. My weakness is similar to anothers strength, beer really makes it hard to be up at 4:30 am although one I am up they go down smooth. ;D

select Shimano spinning reels on sale at Ree
Reeds is a great company and offers great customer service. I would never hesitate doing business with them.

Some new gear!!
Gosh I think I would play with my tackle even more if it looked that pretty
-
Abu garcia
Im pretty excited too, especially for some of the lower end stuff that I can put on those techniques I dont use that often. That and even the newer lower priced reels are lighter than the current line of Revos. Would love the new premier but thats alot of money to pay for something that takes a good beating.

Spinning Reel Lines???
(I like yozuri hybrid ultra soft for spinning tackle but tried it this weekend on baitcasting gear and it will now be used for backing. Did not like it at all on BC equipment.

kistler rods ?
Yeah the mud slinging on this thread has been kind of disappointing, although a little comical at times. Some like them and some dont, just like eveyrthing else. ;D

Revo SC?
The Revo SC also has the external magnetic adjustment like the SX and STX however has the same bearing count as the S. That is why it is priced between the S and the SX...I think.

New Spinning Reel
I just got a symetre from G3 Fan (great seller and honest guy) and it seems like a great and smooth reel matched up with a 7 foot st.croix preimeire.

switching to braid....
10 lb diameter power pro is equivalent to 40 lb test and it will work just fine on the rod you mentioned. If you dont want to use backing just put a piece of electrical tape over the line on the spool to prevent slipping.

Revo Help (Weird Noise)
A funny little noise could be just about anything (can you be a little more specific). As far as a little less smooth on the retrieve, this could be from something gumming up the crank paddles, the crank shaft assembly, right down to something gumming up the levelwind assembly. You might consider getting your back up reel ready for that trip.... Tight Lines!!!! The retrieve is just a little louder, kind of like a hum but not...if that makes any sense. I cleaned it last night and oiled it up and I will see if it is any better today. What is your normal turn time on reels Reelmech??

baitcaster set-ups
They arent bad from what I have seen just not as durable. If it was me my least sensitive rod and average reel would be a spinnerbait/buzzbait/crankabit rod. However these are the techniques I use the most so I have my best/lightest equipment set up for these techniques for the pleasure effect.

Revo Help (Weird Noise)
Went out fishing today with a buddy and after fighting a 4 lber my Revo SX had a funny little noise and it suddenly became a little less smooth on the retrieve. Granted this reel gets a good beating from fish, gravel dust, and today alot of duckweed building up everywhere but I was wondering if anyone has suggestions (other than sending it to Reelmech-which may happen anyways) as I am going to Lake Vermillion in 3 weeks to battle smallies and northern. I know no one can give a perfect diagnosis but any quick fixes, otherwise it is going to Dave, because the last thing I was is my reel not acting right in Minnesota. Thanks in advance. Corey

New PB!!!!!
NIce fish and I have one of those berkley scales and I have paired it against a couple higher end scales and it has been within an ounce. Regardless great fish, nice little boat, and good picture.

Best way to kill a fish?
Here's how I would do it. Place fish on top of foot. (keeps the dirt off) Take a 5 lb or bigger rock. Smash with maximum force. Bass will die real quick. I agree, its the smartest and quickest, most humane way to put a fish out of its misery.

If you see a private lake....
And they have that right because they own the land. Go out, put in some time introducing yourself and doing some favors for these farmers/land owners and then maybe you can get permission. Just because they have signs does not mean they wont give permission, thats rule #1 in getting permission to hunt or fish. People like yourself give outdoorsmen a bad name.
