Matt Lures!!!
Has anyone had much luck using these in the midwestern states or on small bodies of water (less than 5 acres)?

Conflict! Doesn't it keep us guessing?!
I tend to fish larger baits (big bait theory) but bass are opportunistic. Last year I caught a 3 lb bass thru the ice with a waxworm and a small hook. He fought like hell too, especially on a 2 ft rod. I think it is what you are comfortable with and have confidence in doing.

Hand guns
I would and am going to go with a springfield armory 1911-A1. I have shot this gun and wow, there is nothing else to be said. Another deciding factor was I have a friend who works there at the local shop and can get me a deal. These are a great gun to shoot and I like the safeties on the gun also. http://www.springfield-armory.com/prod-pstl-1911-fs.shtml

ABU question
Well Ill say that the rods take the majority of the beating. I got 3 St. Croixs this past fall from Reeds and am interested as to how long they hold up. Ive never busted a rod other than a tip(user error) so hopefully those prove to be worth the money. I really like the low profile reels but I dont really palm a reel too much, and I dont have small hands so I doubt thats a problem. I do like the 4600 c4 but I guess I am open to other opinions, not just ABU. Budget is $100 or less, dont want to put money into something not knowing if it can handle being dropped in cow crap. Thanks again. Corey

Cell phone, man I'm STEAMED!
Give the phone time and continue to dry it out. My phone I currently use was in my pocket last August when a boat I was on sank. It took a little time but it works fine to this day, LG makes a tough phone.

Need ideas
Yep I have only good things to say about Reeds, the only problem is they are out of the rod you want, I must have gotten the last one, although ideally I want a 6'6" one because my girlfriend uses it and she thinks it is too long. Good luck on your search.

Need ideas
Have you check Reeds, I got just what you are looking for in the St. Croix Premier in their 2005 model clearance. I got 3 rods and free shipping and I think I paid about $50 per rod. Very nice and versatile rod too.

ABU question
I am looking at possibly picking up one of these reels because everyone talks about how durable they are. I am very tough on gear, rides in the back of the truck, gathers gravel dust, ends up in water or mud, I dont baby my equipment when in use. I mainly fish ponds for bass so I dont need huge line capacities and prefer a gear ratio in the 6:1 range along with a reel that isnt extremely large to palm. My question is what model of reel would I be looking for if there is an ABU product to match my needs. I also am not looking for one of their new models as they arent proven. Thanks in advance. Corey

Albino bass ?
I have also caught an albino catfish and have seen others caught that were larger. Mine was only about 12 inches and I gave it to the guy who ran the baitshop for his aquarium. He said in 20 years of running the baitshop it was the 3rd one he had seen. I will have to find a picture and post it.

Pond Fishing - Advice?
I agree with RWs advice to fish it slow, senko, worm, something that the fish wont have to chase. Although this past January when fishing ponds in Iowa we had some luck working a spinnerbait real slow. I think slow will be the key for you.

Ever catch a body while fishing?
I was with my dad once (firefighter) when he got called in for a call on the Mississippi River where a boat had gone through the Dam rollers. I saw the body when they brought it in from the boat and it was the worst thing I have ever seen in person.

Depth Finder for Small Boat
I have a small 9 foot bass hunter boat that I use on ponds and my improvement goal for this winter is to find a depth finder to put on the boat. I need something that has its own battery or I will have to hook it up to the TM battery. I also do not need anything to fancy as the majority of waters that I fish are less than 20 feet but I am just looking to get some sort of contour knowledge for fishing purposes. I do not intend to use it as a fish finder, just want a decent unit to give me some more knowledge of the ponds I fish. Thanks in advance. Corey

I Hate BPS
I have no problem with big business, there is a reason they got big which was they took a risk. I love the BPS customer service, I sent back a reel which I got as part of a combo, and they sent me back the entire combo, brand new. I got a rod because they support their product. I love the lottile stores but have had a ton of problems with the local stores when a product goes bad. I get an email a week about the latest sales and sometimes I take advantage of it and other times I hit the delete button. Corey

opinions on my new rod?
I am not sure why you need such a large rod for bank fishing, but I have used one for years and it has been a good rod for the money. Generally, from the bank, where I have been restricted to for 6 years, you want shorter rods because of the trees and brush you deal with. Even after getting a boat I dont use anything over 7 foot, and that is a spinning rod. Regardless for that price send me a couple.

What do you consider a large Crappie
I start keeping them around 12 inches and I think 14 inches is a nice or big one.

Ohio State Buckeyes or Michigan Wolverines
I dont really see either defense giving up 34 points but it should be a hell of a game.

still biting in iowa

The season is over and let the bidding begin
I cheered the day the Red Sox decided not to resign Pedro with his 90% torn Labrum or whatever it was. He was going downhill and not worth the money he wanted. The cards should come back with a strong team and with a pitching coach like that all you need is a little raw talent.

Hangover cures?!
A nutritionist once explained what alcohol does to your body and the short of it was that your body needs to replace carbs, sugars, water, and electrolytes. What he told me to do was to have a piece of dry toast with some honey on it and some water, gatorade, powerade, or other sport drink. I am a firm believer in this and if its not available I always try to have a couple bottles of water and a banana or apple or something that has some sugar and vitamins. Also I found out a good cure for a hangover is not listening to your buddy when he says come on one more shot of jager.

What the!
Consdier yourself lucky, we are about 100 miles south of the major snow and we got hit with hail, rain, soon to be freezing rain. Im up for some snow too. That paired with about 8 inches of ice makes for a fun winter.

Guide to getting females to fish..
Senile- size definetely does matter, regardless of what a woman says. Roadwarrior- I know what you are saying just having a little fun, while telling the truth. Tipptruck- I have never censored myself with my girlfriend when I go fishing. When I lose a fish all the 7 dirty words come out. At that point she knows I lost a nice fish. And I have never brought a bucket or had ot help her find a bush. Women actually can fend for themselves when they go fishing. THe best part is she loves to take fish off the hook, and she has been willing to learn everything from knots to drag, and she is starting to get the hang of lure selection.

Broken Fin Fishing Fools
Well I am only 23 but I have a partially torn MCL in my right knee. A bad right hip to go along with it. It normally doesnt bother me too much except when it gets cold and rainy. But it hasnt kept me from fishing yet. I too am like Glenn, dont need no stinkin hospital.

Guide to getting females to fish..
Roadwarrior I respectfully disagree, this was my girlfriends first year of doing some serious fishing and she doesnt want the little ones, just wants the big one. She tends to get a little upset when I catch bigger fish then her and is always wondering how to catch the big one. She may be the exception not the rule but my little brother tends to be the same way. Corey Oh this always helps keep them interested too.
