Cali, I'm about 25 minute from you. I fish kaweah and success lake from a kayak. I highly recommend you to go to REI and get one. We have great spots and a yak is the easiest to use. Get to know the farmers, in viking land, to gain access to their ponds. Pm if you need anything.

Josh, Perception Pescador at Dicks Sporting Goods. Get the 12 footer since you are going in the bay. The Pescador is the Wilderness System Tarpon but with less upgrades. This yak would be a great starter and permanent if you want.

6-6 for me. My local lake has trees so I keep it short to avoid hang ups. I feel the smaller rods give me more control while sitting. I can't stand on my yak.

John, demo as many as possible. For me, the slide trax made my decision easy. The trax avoids drilling holes. You can add as many tools as you want on those traxs. Also, my tarpon fits in the back of my Silverado so transporting is easy. I wanted hassle free and I got it with my tarpon. One more thing, a big boat might require a trailer so add that to your budget.

Stockton is rough, so any towns around sac area. So, only the tough guys go to Stockton. LOL
