  1. So what is it exactly you don't like about the cork grip on the premier? What kind of cork grip are you looking for?
  2. Oh my mistake. I agree that those team reels are the same. It's still irritating though that in every thread about lews reels someone always says they are all the same.
  3. I'm so sick of people saying all lews and abu and pflueger and bass pro reels are all the same.
  4. You can find the tournament pro for 150. It would be hard to find a better reel at that price.
  5. X2! And ditch the leader. 20 pound braid is overkill on a medium spinning rod.
  6. You've never heard of Falcon rods??? The bucoo rods retail between 100-120 bucks. Great rods for the price.
  7. If that's the trap caster model it's a great rod! Very versatile rod, I own two of them now and love them.
  8. Bass pro used to make a great ultralight spinning rod called the Wally Marshall signature series crappie rod. I have 3 of them in the 5'6" ultralight model. Great little rods, not whippy at all. They were only like 28 bucks new if I remember right.
  9. They're all the same, along with lews, bass pro, and pflueger. Didn't you guys get that memo?
  10. They always seemed heavier than my avids, but that's just my opinion. They also have different lengths than the avids.
  11. The friction ring is under the rotor not under the spool. The friction rings that caused binding would swell and rub against the inside of the rotor. The newer style rings are a totally different design. They look similar to a gear with notches in them that the bail trip arm fits into when the bail is open. There is no way that these newer style rings can swell up enough to contact the inside of the rotor.
  12. I use mono,fluorocarbon,co-poly and braid. They all outshine each other in certain conditions and with certain baits.
  13. The friction ring on the symetre fl is a totally different design than the ones used on symetres 5 years ago. There is no possible way for this newer style friction ring to cause binding when reeling with the bail closed.
  14. Ok So once again, what are the minor changes between the citica I and curado I?
  15. To the op. You may want to try replacing the main drive gear bushing with a bearing. Water may be getting in around the handle and mixing with the grease between the bushing and the main gear shaft causing it to stick and bind in the bushing. I swapped mine out after it started binding and haven't had any binding issue since. Although this may just be because I haven't really used the reel much since I switched it.
  16. Huh??? So since that part is out of stock that's your reasoning for saying that's the op's problem with his symetre fl??? Shimano is always out of stock on a ton of their parts, nothing new. Once again can you please explain how the friction ring in the op's symetre fl is causing it to bind? The friction rings that caused binding were the old solid black ones. They would swell and get gooey rubbing against the inside of the rotor causing binding. The friction ring in the shimano fl is a totally different design. The same ring is used in most shimano reels, that's why I asked why they didn't cause binding in those reels also. Never said they were the same reel. The friction rings did cause binding but they weren't the only cause even years ago when the whole binding issue started with shimano spinning reels.
  17. ^^^^^^^^^^^^ This! I've had both and would take a trion over a symetre fl anyday.
  18. Even if it is identical to the curado people will still pay more for the curado. Then they will say that they've used both and the curado just feels smoother and more "refined".
  19. Please explain how the friction ring on the fl causes binding?? Same exact ring is used on the stradic fj ci4 and sustain and they don't bind. Maybe the reason it's out of stock is because that same ring is used on pretty much every current shimano spinning reel. People that are still having binding issues with newer reels are misinformed by people telling them it's the friction ring causing the problem when they really don't have a clue. The friction rings that caused problems were the OLD solid black rings. They didn't even use those on the symetre fjs let alone the newest model. The problem is internal, it will go away with a cleaning and re-lube but come right back when it gets wet.
  20. Definitely NOT caused by the friction ring. Older shimanos had issues with the friction ring causing binding but that is definitely not the problem with the symetre fjs or newer fls.
  21. The daiwa for sure!! I like lews reels but the Lazer was a big disappointment for me.The graphite frame on the Lazer has way too much flex. The Lexa has an aluminum frame. I wish tackle warehouse still had more right hand lexas on sale, I'd pick a few up for that price!
  22. In my opinion none of the current model shimanos under the stradic are as good as the pflueger president. The stradicfj is a great reel if you get a good one but I've had problems with a few of them right out of the box.
  23. That's the older model. Those are even better than the newer version in my opinion. Good score.
