I Like Cork Better Than Eva
I like my dirty old beat-up battle scared cork handles.

Lews Vs. Shimano

Lews Vs. Shimano
I would spend an extra 10 or 15 bucks and get a lews tournament pro and be done.

Lews Vs. Shimano
Good luck getting parts for your 20 year old shimanos. I have old curado d's that still fish well but that has nothing to do with they reels the make now. Chinese clones?

Power Pro Braid
Same here. I tried the super slick for about 5 casts and that was the end of that. I've never seen any line fray so easily. I'm a big fan of regular power pro though.

Baitcaster Noise
Ok.

Baitcaster Noise
Good luck. They will tell you to send it in, and I guarantee it will come back the same. Replace the gear-set and the noise will be gone.

Spinning Reel Recommendation
Maybe not the older symetres with the aluminum frames. Now that shimano has cheapened them up with graphite frames and replaced the main drive gear bearing with a plastic bushing the president is a much better reel for close to half the price.

Citica I Curado Schematic
Are you asking which of the bearings in the curado are the s-arb's? If so I've asked the same question before and still haven't found the answer. Good luck.
-
Citica I Curado Schematic
The curado I has 3 s-arb bearings and 2 stainless steel bearings. The citica I has 5 stainless steel bearings. Neither reel has arb bearings, which are unshielded arb bearings. The S just means sheilded.

Old Faithful
I'll agree with the "cheaper" part, but that's it.
-
Old Faithful
My old faithful reels are my 2 curado d's and my trustworthy old daiwa ss1300. I bought the daiwa in 1990 or so and it still works perfect. I also have an old all star flippin stick with a telescopic handle that I would trade for anything.

Malaysian Curados Just As Good As Japanese?
The curado D is the best curado period!
-
Cutting Braid
Mini craftsman side cutters. Cuts limp braid with ease. If they get dull just exchange them for a new pair.

Chinese Reels
Yeah I'll stick with my shimano rods and reels. It's comforting to know they're made in... oh wait, nevermind.

Going To Buy Either A St. Croix Avid Or G. Loomis Imx
I've owned both and still own the avid. Is the Imx worth 100 more than the avid? Definitely not in my opinion. The older model Imx rods were much more balanced and sensitive. I was very disappointed in my new imx and sold it right away. Also the avid is definitely not "heavy".

Spinning Reel Recommendation
You skipped the best shimano spinning reel in my opinion, the stradic fj.
-
Spinning Reel Recommendation
Pflueger president. For 60 bucks it's better than any shimano spinning reel under the stradic fj.

Leader Or No Leader Is The Question.
so your main line doesn't have enough "stretch" so you have to add another type of line and add another knot. So why not just use straight fluorocarbon and eliminate the knot and braid to begin with?
-
Leader Or No Leader Is The Question.
So why not use just straight fluorocarbon instead of dealing with an extra knot?
-
Leader Or No Leader Is The Question.
I agree. I think most people who use leaders on braid don't even really have a reason as to why they are using one.

Shimano Curado 200I Vs. New Citica 200I
That's good to know. I didn't realize the curado I had an aluminum drag star.
-
Shimano Curado 200I Vs. New Citica 200I
The curado has a machined aluminum drag star??

How Long Did It Take You To Master The Baitcaster?
That's the only way you will learn. If you leave it at home you'll never get the hang of it. Get a big spool of cheap berkley big game mono and practice, practice, practice.
