  1. Caught 5 small ones. Still looking for that double digit bass and/or a double digit catch day to make the drive from Shreveport worth the drive! I'll be back.
  2. Launched at Lanan. On the water at 6:50am off around 7:30pm. Stained water temp from 72 to 83. Wind was out of the South at 10mph. Sunny day with high wispy clouds and contrails. I managed to get a sunburn on my knees and tops of my feet, I like to fish barefoot. Ambient temp started in the mid 70s and climbed to the high 80s. It was a nice weather day for fishing! A LOT of boats on the water. The shelter in place order has most families out fishing. Fished everything. Coves, points, creek channels, shallow, deep and drop offs. Threw everything in several colors. Found a community hole that had 13 boats. Talked with several boats and everybody was grinding. One boat had caught 2, all others either one or none. Several said the day before, Thursday, was the same. Caught 5 bass, 4 on plastics and 1 on crankbait. All under 3lbs. Caught on grinnel on a crankbait. Is Bayou La Nana ever gonna turn on?
  3. I was thinking 20+ fish.
  4. Called 'em, boat launch open 8 - 5.
  5. Is the boat launch at North Toledo Bend State Park open?
  6. 3/21/20 - Saturday Launched at Shady Acres. On the water around 8:30am and off around 4:00pm. Water temp was 62 and stained. Ambient temp started at 51 and climbed to 57. Never saw the sun. Wind was out of the North at a steady 10mph or so. Never gusted but sometimes was calm. Put Rosie (my boat) on plane and 10 minutes later was surrounded by grassy trees. No coves this time. Caught 5 bass and 1 gar. 1 bass on a red colored trick worm and 4 bass and 1 gar on a junebug colored Bang StickZ. Broke a rod also. Stepped on it. 1 bass was 4.0 and a 2nd was 4.2, the other bass were slot fish.
  7. 4.0 on Caddo Lake. One of 2 4lb'ers caught today.
  8. 3/20/20 - Friday Launched at Shady Acres. On the water a little around 8:30am off around 4:30pm. Water temp was 65 -68. Water was stained. Ambient temp started at 75 and fell to 62. Rained all day. Front came through about 6:30 along with lightning. Wind was 5 gusting to maybe 10. Never saw a white cap. Started in Jeems, after an hour caught one in the mouth of a cove. Tried a toad in the tree islands but no joy. Nothing for the next 2 coves or 2 hours. Heard that main lake was biting so left the coves and headed out. Looking for grassy trees and found plenty of 'em. 3' to 8' of water, cypress trees, hydrilla, nobody around, steady rain, light wind, falling temps and not sitting at a desk. Life is good. Caught 4 total, one on a 6" red trick worm and 3 on a smelt colored Bang StickZ. All were slot fish. 2 in 4 fow and 2 in 7 fow. Going to Caddo again tomorrow.
  9. Nada. Zip. Zero. Zilch. Talked with one other boat, they said the same. 'nuff said.
  10. 3/13/20 - Friday Launched at Shady Acres. On the water a little around 7:15am off around 4:30pm. Water temp was 65 to 68. Water was stained. Ambient temp started high 60's and fell to low 60's. Cloudy all day. Front was coming in and hit about 8:30am. Rained/sprinkled on/off all day. In the morning wind was calm, after the front it picked up to maybe 5, around 2pm she was blowing a good 10, white caps on main lake. Started in a protected cove where the first 2 fish were caught. No fish activity seen. Lots of grass and a handful of trees. Started with a 6" red lizard, threw it until I had no more. 1st catch of the day was 3lb 12oz on a tree. Caught a buck on another tree. Caught 10 bass and 1 Crappie. All in coves on "grassy" trees. 9 of em, including the Crappie, were on the lizard. The last one was on a Spanish Craw trick worm. Biggest was the first one I caught, smallest was the second one caught, the others were in the 2lb to 3lb range. It was a steady bite all day. Have a question. Ifn a bad day of fishing beats a good day of working, what does a good day of fishing beat? Going to Cane River with my farther in-law tomorrow.
  11. 3/7/20 - Saturday Launched at Shady Acres. On the water a little after 10:00am off around 7:00pm. Water temp was 55 to 59. Water was stained. Ambient temp started mid 40's and climbed to mid 60's. Cloudy sky, sun came out for about 30 minutes then disappeared until sunset. Wind was 5 - 10. Fished shallow tree islands (thats what I call 'em) for an hour or so with no bites. Then onto a little shallow cove. As soon as I got there I saw fish popping the surface. Threw a 6' red lizard, watermelon swimming shad and H&H chartreuse spinner bait. Caught 1 2lb'er and had 3 blow ups on the lizard in 1' to 2' of water. All the action came at the grass line. Tried a shore line - no joy. Tried another tree island - no joy. Last spot of the day, a tree line with no grass in 4' of water, caught 3 bass and 1 gar. All on the H&H. A 4lb'er full of eggs and a couple of bucks.
  12. Please excuse me ifn I get the names wrong, I am learning the names as I go. 3/6/20, Friday. Launched at the 191 bridge, no idea what name is, I call it the Lanan boat launch. On the water at 7:00am off at 6:30pm. Water temp per electronics was 55 to 58. Water was muddy to stained depending on where I was. Weather app said wind was 5 - 15. Not bad in the Bayou but the main lake swells sent the pucker factor high so I stayed in Bayou La Nana. High wispy clouds in a blue sky with lots of contrails from planes. Ambient temp started in the mid 40's and finished in the low 60's. Fished the coves, mostly in the back , but fished front to back on a few of them. Crank bait, spinner bait, popper and soft plastic were used. All fish were caught on soft plastic. The weekend before I caught 2 at the front of coves with a crank bait. Caught 4, had 2 come off at the boat and missed hookset on 2 others. All 4 catches were in the 2lb range along with the 2 that came off. 2 catches were way back in the coves on cover in 2' - 4' of water. The other 2 catches were along a bank with no cover, boat was in 10'+ of water and the bites came about half way to the boat. 3 catches were on red trick worm, 1 catch on a 6" red lizard. Long day for 4 fish in the boat but it beats working all day.
  13. Headed to The Bend tomorrow, gonna launch on Bayou La Nana at the boat launch by the 191 bridge. Any suggestions? I'm thinking shallow plastic, reddish in color. Start shallow and head deep. @Amateur Hour - yep, but gonna warm up nicely!
  14. Anybody know somebody that can install HELIX electronics in NW Louisiana? After talking with some the dealers around here, BPS and such, I just don't get a warm fuzzy feeling they know what they are doing. Would prefer someone experienced to help me, but if they make a living at it I will turn them loose. Even someone to mount just the transducers would be OK. Anywhere from Shreveport to Toledo Town, even East Texas.
  15. My brother fishes lake Hartwell. Sometimes does good, sometimes not so good. I will ask and let yall know.
  16. @WRB the dealer knows about the leak, I feel confident that they will get it fixed before selling. At least there is no reason not to fix the leak, the Xpress life time warranty on the hull should pay for everything and the dealer has their reputation to consider. @J._Bricker thanks, looking forward to having a bigger casting deck, more storage and not having to worry about water in the boat when taking my son and grandsons fishing. It caused the pucker factor to go high when I stepped off the casting deck into wet carpet. Not fun at all.

  21. Have a 2014 Xpress Striker 17 that has been leaking water for the past couple of months. Finally found the leak. On the transom/hull weld. I suspect fatigue caused by the "petal to the metal" hole shots I like. Took the boat back to the dealer and was told it is covered under warranty. Gonna be 2 days to 2 months on getting it back. 2 months? They said Xpress will tell them to fix locally (2 days) or send the boat to them (2 months). I traded in the Xpress and bought a Triton 18TX. Tell me no fishing for 2 months.
