Waterproof Fishing shoes
I have a pair of rubber boots and flip flops in the boat, but there are times when I want to wear a pair of waterproof shoes. I’ve had a few pairs of Solomon X ultra. They are nice, but they don’t hold up. I bought the wide and it’s still not wide enough so the lower always separates from the upper and I’m over that for the price. Does anyone have a good pair to recommend?

Dang. Seems like they work as intended.

Bait specific boxes
I can’t really add anything to the bladed jig and jig storage. I keep them in 3700 and store by type/color and size. That’s the best way that I found and it’s the perfect blend of organization and efficiency for me. I would like to point out two pieces of gear that I absolutely love. You could use these with your existing edge terminal box depending on how much gear you have. The first is the X-large spro terminal tackle box. All of my bullet weights, drop shot weights, Carolina weights, nail weights, etc all fit in here perfectly as well as some other terminal accessories. It makes breaking off much less of a hassle when everything is right there in one box. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/search-tackle.html?start=0&count=20&prevsearch=Spro+terminal&searchtext=Spro+terminal+box The next is the g-box foam hook case. I cannot recommend this enough. I keep 6-7 of each type of hook in this case so I can store my bulk hooks in the back of the boat. This gives me room for other stuff up front which is a HUGE deal for me, especially in a tournament if I have a co-angler. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Gamakatsu_G-Box_3600_Slit_Foam_Case/descpage-GGB6SF.html

Bait specific boxes
After looking at this collection, I finally broke down and bought my first batch of Megabass vision 110’s. If only my wife knew that the $122 dollar TW charge was for 6 jerkbaits…😢

I bought a couple last season and can’t remember if I tried them. I can keep you posted in a month or two when the ponds unfreeze. I can at least confirm that they are a true silent bait.

Tatula 100 - geary after taking apart and cleaning?
@FishTank Great job getting us all on the same page. In my mind I was expecting something much worse than that. @Brycecover One more thing I want to check— did you do anything to clean/lube your anti-reverse bearing?
-
Tatula 100 - geary after taking apart and cleaning?
Absolutely. I think improper assembly is the most common, but I’ve definitely overtorqued the bearing under the main gear shaft and it will grind and sound horrible. I think grease is one of the last concerns.

Tatula 100 - geary after taking apart and cleaning?
@Brycecover I put mine in upside down before on a curado. I was pretty confident I put it back together correctly, too. I don’t think this is it, but did you grease anything other than gears?

Tatula 100 - geary after taking apart and cleaning?
I think there’s something you didn’t put back the right way. I would take it apart and try to reassemble using the schematic. Are you sure that you put the pinion yoke (platic piece that holds the pinion gear) in the correct orientation? I’ve messed that up before.

How do you set your drag?
I, too, have a bad habit of forgetting to tighten after backing off from a previous outing. I now make a habit of setting the drag on each reel before putting it in the rod locker.
-
Which line for bladed jig rods?
I would go to 12lb p line cx. You can bump up to 15 lb if you are fishing laydowns or heavier cover. I fish mostly clear water so 12 lb is what I use the majority of the time. You might want to have braid as a backup for grass.

How do you set your drag?
Laydowns or in thick vegetation I’m completely locked down and have the rod and line to handle it. Cranking with a bait caster just enough for a firm pull by hand. I’ll thumb the spool if a big fish surges or the situation calls for it. Spinning gear with typical finesse presentations I like a firm, consistent pull by hand. I will adjust tighter or looser depending on my line and tackle.

New Bait From Keitech
@FishTank thats funny this was brought up because I thought I was going insane. Each year I add extras to my bait order list, and these have been on there many times. But… as the “essential” items increase, the fat needs to be trimmed and I never pulled the trigger. I usually fish a fat ika with a bullet weight, so I may not need weight for this bait. This has dock skipping written all over it for me. I’ve added these back to the list. We’ll see what happens.

Coping with chronic heart ache ~
Glad you posted this as the “new content” tab has helped me keep more up-to-date with BR stuff. I knew that Lynn had a tough, incurable disease (to put it lightly), but I did not know the full extent until reading through the updates on this post. I can’t even imagine what you both have been through over the years, but I’m glad to hear things have recently been somewhat better and less chaotic. Wishing you both a peaceful and uneventful 2026 and beyond!

Hot Sauce versus Boat Drip Spray On Cleaner
That’s interesting to hear. Do you spray the boat off each time or are you saying you just pull it out of the water and it’s done? I usually wash my boat after each trip, or at least spray it down. But that gets old.

Hot Sauce versus Boat Drip Spray On Cleaner
Has anyone used bass boat saver? It works pretty good, but always wondered how it compares with hot sauce, boat drip, etc.

Noco boost question
I have a gb40 in my boat and a gb40 in my wife’s vehicle. I have a similar jump pack in my truck that doubles as a portable air compressor as well. I always get excited at the thought of having to use them. Especially this time of the year.

Just signed up. Hopefully I can stick with it this year!

Boat Covers
I second the DOWCO cover. I have one for my nitro and it’s a very high quality, breathable, wratchetable travel covel. No issues for me with 3 years of use.

Can you tie an FG Knot?
It goes through the guides good and it’s a pretty flat knot. The main thing is to cut the tag end as close as you can get it. I’m not going to say I’ve never broke at the leader, but the few times it has broke some may have been operator error. There are many other knots like the double uni that are much bigger that do not come through the guides as well IMO.

Can you tie an FG Knot?
I can’t tie it on the water, so I don’t tie it period. Alberto knot is the perfect blend of strength and practicality for me. Do tie a new Alberto knot before each trip?

Lowrance 12" HDS Carbon Gen 2
@Alex from GA First you need to export your waypoints from helix to an sd card. Once you do that, figure out which file type the hds carbon accepts. This shouldn’t be hard to figure out. Convert to the appropriate file type and upload the waypoints via sd card to the hds carbon.
