  1. A lot of days are still like that for me 😀 It’s a cool concept. My club has considered doing that on Erie so that we can have a tournament during the C&R period. I didn’t check closely into the legality/feasibility of it.
  2. I use small kvd (mustad?) scissors which works really well.
  3. You need some sort of anchor / trolley system. It’s minimal drilling into the boat, and you just use a good marine grade silicone. Trust me. YOU CAN DO IT and you will be happy you did.
  4. That’s awesome. A lot of tournaments in my state are won with 10-14 lbs TOTAL haha.
  5. I Haha, I guess. This is more of a 180 than a tangent. I do agree that the safest fish handling involves the least handling possible. But, I will admit that it’s a lot more exciting having fish at the weigh in though. Can you fish paper tournaments during the closed season?
  6. Pulling the Alberto super tight and cutting the tag end so it is basically non-existent is crucial, but really easy to do. After a few steps of a fg knot tutorial, I said ,”nope, not for me.” LOL
  7. Looks like an awesome trip! Thanks for posting.
  8. That’s all well and good, but I was asking about culling because my club weighs in live fish.
  9. I second this. Alberto is a flat skinny knot. The braid wraps around the flourocarbon and keeps the flourocarbon protected when zipping through the guides. It’s easy enough to tie on a boat, but unfortunately not easier than the uni to uni in my opinion. I had too many uni to uni issues, so I had to switch.
  10. It’s pretty simple. A rod needs a soft enough tip that gets to the backbone at just the right point.
  11. I use the uni knot for a connection to my lure. I used to use the double uni knot for a Braid to leader connection, but it was nothing but trouble for me. Especially on a bait caster setup. My personal opinion is that the connector knot is too thick and it gets severely weakened through micro guides. I switched to the Alberto knot and my issues stopped, except the Alberto is a little bit harder to tie on the water.
  12. Awesome I’ll have to check it out!
  13. if you ordered during the Memorial Day sale, I would say that’s about normal if it ships in the next few days.
  14. It was a little brisk out this morning at the local pond, with the air temps in the low 40’s. Fishing overall was pretty slow, but I did catch one descent one on a zoom curly tail grub.
  15. One thing to consider when choosing straight braid or a braid to flouro leader is cover. Sometimes I fish straight braid in vegetation, especially when flipping and pitching to heavy vegetation. Even if I could get away with straight braid for laydowns I opt for a flourocarbon leader because A it doesn’t dig into the tree and B it’s easier to break off when you snag.
  16. I have my yardwork Tackle Warehouse shirts, my "dress" TW shirts, and my bedtime TW shirts. I need to start retiring my old TW shirts. If my wife starts to correlate each shirt with a $150 min. order, I might be in for some trouble.
  17. Great idea—Everyone should wear a PFD. I’m a very good swimmer, but if I get ejected from the boat, collided into, or knocked unconscious, swimming does nothing for me. Neither does a manual PFD for that matter. For what it is worth, I have never had a PFD that did not inflate when the manual lever was pulled. Given that the PFD worked as intended, as long as the new co2 cartridge is within its expiration date, I wouldn’t think twice.
  18. What Holosun dot is that? I’m looking to get one on my p365.
  19. I take the dramomine less drowsy formula. I have never noticed being drowsy after taking it. I take 30 minutes prior to launching and then as needed. I only take it on Lake Erie as a precaution. One time on Erie I was learning how to tie a connector knot and after 5 minutes of losing the horizon, I was sick as a dog for an hour or so. As many have mentioned, be well hydrated prior. Drinking water while being dehydrated does nothing for you in that moment. I would recommend light meals and avoid any “heavy” foods.

  21. @Swamp Girl light for a canoe or not, 59 lbs is still heavy, so you are still doing alright!
  22. @Swamp Girl Wow that’s light!
  23. Those old town seats are so comfy. What’s that thing weigh?
  24. Curado 200 M would be my vote. Get the 8:1. This reel is a workhorse and I love the oversized handle. It is fantastic for winching fish out of heavy cover.
  25. It’s just going to keep happening, but I like keeping my stuff looking good. It just makes me feel better. I would go the nail polish route. You could even clear coat over it.
