  1. Hopefully my nrx will be in tommorow and I'll post up some good pics
  2. Always has to be a good sign to come home to this
  3. 1-2oz is pretty serious, I'd go with a rod designed for it like the Dobyns or irod said above or possibly a veritas 7'11" heavy
  4. Yes the rod was marked down to 200, and all clearance stuff was half off. It is a 6'8" mxf
  5. actually that's what I'm looking for in the 895, I have a glx fpr for my pitching already and I'd like a good sensitive broom stick to put the double wide beavers in the heavy cover.
  6. Just bought a st criox ltb wacky style rod from field and stream on clearance for $100 yesterday, look for deals like that around and you'll get a good rod on the cheap.
  7. Well I'm gonna go with the 873 now, might go with a 893 or a 895 as well when the taxes come back depending on what I think will compliment the 873
  8. If only I could buy one of each and let the world know ha, I'll update you guys on what I go with monday and how it handles the 3/8 jig
  9. So if you had to pick between the 873 and the 894 for 3/8 jigs which would it be(note I find the emtf underpowered for this app for me, it's more of t-rig or c-rig rod)? And I mean 3/8oz jigs plus trailer, so 1/2-5/8 oz total weight. I'm only wanting to spend $450 at most and I can't find a megabass rod I want in that price range, and I've always wanted to try a nrx. So that's the reason I'm wanting to try one.
  10. Well after researching it seems every single person prefers the 7'5 nrx rods over the other lengths, that confuses me lol. So I guess I'm gonna go with the 894, I just hope it gives the good balance lightweightness I'm wanting with the mgl
  11. I'm guess I could go with the 894 over the 854, maybe it's a better selection. It just seemed like the 893 would be the same exact rod as my emtf
  12. Why a 3 power? I had a 7'1" imx rod in 3 power and it seemed soft for me, that's why I was after the 4 power. And I have a megabass emtf so I was thinking on a 7' rod since I don't have anything in he 7' range anymore. But I could possibly consider the 894
  13. Is the 854 a good 3/8oz jig rod? I'm looking for something to pair with my new mgl. It will be for light cover fishing and maybe dragging across wood, gonna pretty much be my bank beater jig setup.
  14. The more you flip, the longer the Rod you will want. It increases distance the longer the Rod you have because you get more line out to flip with, a 8' heavy parabolic Rod is what I think you want and it's a good mix for both worlds
  15. I love my glx fpr, it's like a medium heavy with some serious power. You can flip down to a 1/4oz jigs easily for it being a 7'11" Rod A lot of people like a parabolic bend Rod for flipping, it makes the bait easier to flip and still loads up good, and doesn't rip hooks out
  16. I have a 200b as well and I use it to flip 6-8" swimbaits around docks, it's a beast of a reel
  17. Used it, was a problem for me. I know have 832 20# with 8# Invizix leader
  18. Well I spent $215ish on $6 lures so I'm stocked pretty good lol
  19. Honestly i dont know cause I just walked up on it accidentally, but I definately capitalized on it
  20. My local field and stream has lucky craft lures on sale for $6 a peice when you buy 4 or more?, just spent a fortune on pointers, gunfish, and sammys
  21. Rebuilt the motor on our boat this spring, first trip out when spun the hub in our prop after waiting on it to rebuilt we took the boat back out to find it was missing on two cylinders and wouldn't even plain out, fixed it after a full day off trouble shooting, and the next time out on the water it took off like a top and we was going doing the lake about 55 when it blew out the number 3 cylinder and locked up on us. Drowning us with 45 degree water on a very cold morning miles away from the ramp. Finally got that bad luck bot fixed and sold, and now I've never broke a Rod in my life before this and I've broke a glx, Phenix m1, and my favorite tourney special spinning Rod I've had forever.
  22. I'm with him on it, my rattle viper will handle the 110 but its maxed out. I prefer my avid 6'6" medium for that size jerkbait
  23. The answer is yes, you can do anything with a 7' mh Rod. I used a 7' mh for everything for 2 years, jerkbaits, shaky heads, jigs, topwaters, cranks you name it(heck I caught my first dropshot and Huddleston fish on this same Rod). It may not be the ideal Rod at times but it can get it done with pretty much anything.
  24. I just got the megabass x4 rattle viper which is like a 6'7" mlxf, and it works amazingly on pointer 68 and 110jrs. I was amazed how great a ml Rod felt throwing small jerkbaits.
