  1. I have the abec hybrid orange seals in my Calais, I only installed them cause I did a complete rebuild on a worn out reel, I popped a seal off and put a very tiny drop of abec Lightning lube in the and reinstalled the seal. I have never heard them scream like they do dry, plus they stay very clean for a long time. I pop the seals and flush them once a year. Min and a half freespool(which is useless since its my pitching reel)
  2. New handle made all the difference in the world Best Rod ever made in my opinion, amazingly right and is the perfect power for so many applications
  3. For me it depends on spinning or casting, casting I'd go with Shimano, but for spinning I would go with Shimano.?
  4. It would also be great for super close quarters pitching and skipping around docks, i like my shorter rods for that kind of stuff and I stray away from my 7'11" Rod for something smaller
  5. I flip/pitch with a 7'11" loomis fpr rod, I think the most important part of pitchin Rod is finding one that's not a broom handle type rod. For me personally it needs to load up when pitching to get that pinpoint accuracy, and it makes it a lot more pleasurable. The thing I like the most about this Rod is its 1/4-1oz rating so with 1/2oz weight and a big beaver style bait it loads up really good making pitching a breeze. Also you need to pick a reel with a very good breaking system. I have all shimanos except for on my flipping Rod which is a bb1 pro. I love the way it feels while pitching, and the brakes are amazing. If it was me I'd go to a box store and play around with the rods and actions to find one you like. 7'3" would be the shortest I'd go, and mh to a lighter heavy is the type I'd prefer
  6. For me the more finicky and pressured the fish are, the more I fish weightless. When the fish aren't really biting is a lot better to have the super slow rof to make the bait more tempting and easy to eat. When the bass are out on the prowl I go with a heavier weight, sometimes the bass are in a more chasing/hunting mood. And flipping 1/2oz tungsten in 5' or less of water is the way to go, and I will toss weightless senkos in 20' of water if the fish are suspended their not really looking for food.
  7. Maxima ultragreen is the best line I've ever used, second place for me would be p-line pf orginal. I use maxima on all my big swimbaits as well
  8. My number 1 topwater is without a doubt a lucky craft gunfish in aurora black, it never fails to produce for me. I like it a million times better than the boyd ducket copy, plus I don't by anything he pushes anymore because I think he just copy's baits.
  9. I own both the a imx 7'1" mh and a avid 7' mh, I gave $200 for each. Personally I still think the avid is the better buy at $200 then giving $200 for a imx
  10. I bought citicas last week of the bay for 117.95 apiece, better than both for the price.
  11. I like st criox avid casting and avid x spinning rods.
  12. I was planning on butting another hawg handle on it, I love them on my calais. I was thinking about drag washers at minimum, maybe some better bearings but i dont know right now.
  13. Ok, the villain is a steal for that price and my dad got a 7'6" medium heavy one for the same price. But the Rod you are talking about isn't gonna cut it for what you're wanting
  14. I was wondering what all anyone has done to them b series, it's a 200 size that I'm gonna replace my Cardiff with. I was thinking about sending it to ian and getting him to fix it up for me, and what all handles do you guys run on them? I'm planning on picking up another hang handle for it
  15. What's your price range? If it was around the $200 range I would go with a mh Phenix m1 swimbait rod for $187. If you are looking cheaper maybe a irod or okuma
  16. That's two completely techniques all together, but if I had to I'd use like a 7' medium casting Rod. I'd rather have a 6'6" medium for the jerkbaits and a 7'3"-7'6" mh for the finesse jigs.
  17. I bought 2 citicas for $240 off eBay last week, I don't think they can be beat in the $120 department
  18. Honestly I'd throw about all common baits with it if I had to, wouldn't do it all amazingly but it would deffinalty get the job done. Abu rods fish a power heavier than most, my 7' mh veritas was a broom handle but it was one of my favorite rods.
  19. A boy just caught the third state record catfish there in the past 6 months. Over 115
  20. An 8' Rod being only 1" longer than your Rod shouldn't make much of a difference at all, I wouldn't let that make deter you from getting a different Rod
  21. I use 20lb maxima ultragreen mono, the stuff is a absolute beast. It will pull fish out of anything. I also throw big swimbaits on it and have never broke anything off on it. With a double uni
  22. I have some g loomis rods but I strayed away from there swimbait rods, I have a Phenix m1 that I absolutely love and would deffinalty recommend of the models you suggested. Also you could get you a LDC production series Rod cheaper than those as well. I am also rocking the bb2
  23. All I own are shimanos, but for that price range I'd go president all day. Shimanos cheaper reels never done it for me
  24. My orochi xx Rods are my favorite rods I owned, I only owned my levante for a weekend before returning it. The Rod just didn't have the feel for my liking, I could be the only one to think this. The Rod feels cheaper to me. I'm much happier with my avid x and my invy black rods.
  25. This is what I use now, 7'3" medium fast(feels xtra fast), chronarch ci4 3000 size reel, 8lb p-line flouroclear. Gonna be used for shaky heads, weightless senkos, wacky rigs, and drop shots
