Pond Setup
I agree I have some ponds that are heavy cover for 30ft out almost the entire way around. Others have no cover at all just open water with a few pads on one end maybe.

BPS Classic - dissapointing turnout
I was considering picking up a couple a new BPQ reels if what I had read here was correct that this is when they have them dirt cheap. I haven't seen any dirt cheap ones but I didn't even stop when I drove by yesterday because the online ad didn't show anything more than what was discussed in this thread.

What file type are you working with? You may need to change to a file type more compatible with posting on the web. (smaller footprint not actual visual size) jpeg seems to be a good all around file type for posting pics. Here is a quick reference page on the topic JPG vs. GIF vs. PNG As for your work I agree with CJ, Your work looks incredible! You must have extreme patience to do that.

Who Here Sprays Scent Into Their Bags Of Plastics?
Same here. I picked up some 6" black ribbon tail Gulp worms on sale at Walmart that were bathing in their liquid. The bait was just weird feeling to me to the touch, I did try it but didn't get 1 strike. But the after mess a leaking bag and a dried up hard worm on my hook left a "I wont buy that crud again" thought in my head. I have also tried Berkley Power Bait Attractant and put a few worms I was going to try in a Ziploc with some. It just made a slimy worm and a mess getting them out of the bag along with the potential leaking bag. I did not see any improvement over the ones with no scent. I have JJ's now and use it more for the dye effect and only on the bait I am using. No pre dying a bag full etc. for me. I see no positive reason for me to go back to trying to scent numerous baits at a time.

Newish to bass fishing
I personally have great luck with the Grape 8" Mann's Jelly Worm. Lipless cranks can get hung up but since I cant see what your fishing in that is something you need to evaluate. They arent real bad about getting hung up but they can. 1/4 oz. one could turn into some good fishing in the right place at the right time.

Braid good or bad
I totally get the steel leader. As far as the other points. If I am going to fish a lake where like you say is known to have sharp rocks I probably am not taking a reel full of braid. I will just spool my reel with the appropriate fluorocarbon and be done with it. No messing with extra knots no time wasted when I am out fishing if it gets broke off. I don't have to sit there and re rig the entire leader. I am tying my bait on and back to fishing that quick. I have read some talk of fish being touchy about seeing the line. I call BS on that one but hey what ever makes someone feel better. Like I said I fish 100% braid and have no problem getting fish. Maybe the fish here in Texas are just blind.

Braid good or bad
I don't get some of this "knowledge" that gets put out on the web. You want braid for example for all of its properties when say flippin. So why in the world would you stick some stinking leader on it to get rid of the very properties you selected braid for to start with. Some of these posts have me doing a lot of head scratching. If I want a stretchy line I would not put braid on, and if I want clear line with a good feel I would load fluorocarbon. But I sure am not ruining my good braid sticking some other crud on the end that is holding my fish. I agree with most here if braid is breaking off often you have a issue somewhere else. I use strait braid almost 100% of the time, tie with a palomar knot, leave a little 3/16" to 1/4" tag, and I absolutely cant tell you the last time I lost a lure from "breaking off". I use the KISS method less knots (leader) = less problems. No leader = more time to fish. Put the line on you want to use don't be making some concoction complicating things. If that bass is so smart he wouldn't be looking at your stupid plastic bait considering eating it anyway. Use fresh quality name brand line. Double check every place the line comes in contact with your rod and reel. Be extra cautious to make sure you wet the braid before you seat the palomar knot. Leave a small tag as described above.

Newish to bass fishing
3/8 spinnerbaits is a good option. Lipless crankbaits aren't to bad Walmart carries I think Cotton Cordell ones for under $3.00. Not my favorites but they do work. I fish Texas rigged worms a lot. OK a whole lot, its like one of my favorite techniques. I don't find it to be a super slow bait. Yeah sure when the fish are lethargic to get a bite I slow down. That is part of fishing on those days period. But normally I don't fish them super slow. I find them to be a good all around bait because they don't get hung up / lost often and they sure aren't real expensive considering the price of other baits. Maybe if you having to go so slow you might bump the weight up a little to get it down quicker. What t-rigged worm are you using besides a senko?

Ruger Mark II problems
Why not use Rugers EXCELLENT repair service. This is one of the main reasons why I like Ruger. I purchased a P95 at a pawn shop years ago, it acted up a few times I called them and they were extremely nice. Tried to fix it over the phone when no results they sent me a shipping label. I did what they said and wrote down everything I was having issues with and put it in the box. In less than 3 weeks I had my gun back in perfect mechanical working condition. The best part was they included a slip showing what parts were replaced and their cost but their was no charge (yes they fixed it for FREE) Now my parts were less than $5 but still that is customer care. I have spoke with them on another gun issue as well and was treated with the same professionalism. If nothing has changed I would say no one can do a better job with customer service than that. http://www.ruger.com/footer/contact.html I have 2 Rugers a SR45 and a P95 both are excellent guns. They eat any ammunition I throw in them like candy.

Good news today
Good deal. Make the best of it. Not so fortunate for my dad. They stopped chemo as the cancer wasn't affected and my dad was to weak. This is the second go round but its way worse. The clock is ticking and the painkiller dosages are getting stronger.

PBJ or Black & Blue?
I agree. I have seen and done the exact same thing. I pretty much exclusively use black n blue, green pumkin, or some sort of green pumpkin mix. Honestly they all work fairly well but I fall back on black n blue a lot.

Pitchin/flippin leader
I use straight braid never liked dealing with all the extra leader materials and knots and hate the banging guides.

Cheap baitcast combos
Another vote for the BPS deal on a ProQualifier combo. Hands down for the money its a great real very tunable for a beginner that will help a lot especially if you take the time to study how to set it up. It will make the transition much smoother/less aggravating. And it's a reel you can use for just about any bass fishing being it has a aluminum frame flipping into the muck hanging a good one won't snap the reel off dragging him out. Also distance is not a issue, the reel is smooth as any Ive tried in its price range. I too think you will regret the cheap ones. Usually it will cost you in the end because your gona either hate it and want a better reel or you will throw it down in frustration and not use it. Either way its a loss.

The First 5
Nice looking rods. Those Hokies colors should be easy to see maybe prevent a accident. Just asking will those threads be exposed when the reels mounted? This is the first time I've been in this section of the forums I think, so if this is a stupid question just ignore me. Haha

Lil' Corky in a tube bait instructions
What size or style hook are you using on a 3.5 tube for this Glenn? I have tried EWG 3, and 4 but they are either too small or too big. When using a hook that seems to fit the bait it seems like the corky would prevent the hook from being able to be pushed on through. Are you setting the hook offset to one side? I hope i am explaining OK. The back of the hook is what seems to me would hit on the corky stopping the point of the hook from being pushed out but a small amount. Thanks again for the help

Lil' Corky in a tube bait instructions
I actually have the Lil' Corky (its nothing but a miniature bobber so to speak). What I am having issues with is where to put anything that would add the buoyancy and not interfere with the hook doing its job. Especially on a 3.5" or smaller tube. I didn't find any info on this when I searched. Was hoping someone might have a clearer picture of how to actually do what was mentioned. Thanks fellas for trying to help.
