  1. I go to this event every year and the secret is to go on the last day of the show. If they don't have what you want, you can always get online but the only deals to be had are on the last day. I have always found something.
  2. I have the 783 GLX and love it. I used it for everything including cranks but I find it almost too sensitive for crankbaits. I often found myself ripping the hook out or setting it too soon. I have since gone to a CBR783. It seems to cast most small to medium cranks quite well and is great for setting small treble hooks. I have also seen that Loomis has come out with a GLX version in a 7' medium power. This should be one sweet rod..... http://products.gloomis.com/gl/products/alltackle/detail.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524441812049&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302032500&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=1408474395181201&bmUID=1235359988459
  3. I picked the Zillion. It's a workhorse of reel.
  4. Have to go with the Calcutta as well.
  5. The 844C is a great rod. It is sort of my do all rod. It has worked great for jigs, T-Rigged soft plastic, jerkbaits, and even a few heavier crankbaits. Also it has just a little longer but section, which makes it great for Carolina Rigs. One other great thing about the 844c is that is light and has tons of power but not to much that it decreases the sensitivity of the rod. IMHO, it defines the IMX line. I just wished I owned the same rod in a GLX
  6. If money were no object I would probably get another Zillion because it does everything I ask, at a not to crazy price. On the other hand, I love my Calais and Core. I probably should have chosen other on your list.
  7. I use to be into powerlifting so I always bring this up when someone says I can bench XXXlbs..... It doesn't matter how much you bench. It is not a sign of true strength. Judge your strength on deadlifts. But 5'11''/205 295bench is pretty good.... :) Just in case at my best, I weighed 198lb bench around 400lb and could deadlift and squat about 550lbs. My joints are paying for it now.
  8. The last two times I have been to BPS I too have had bad service and have since taken my business elsewhere. Last fall I brought back a BPS Johnny Morris Sig. Rod that had problems with the guiedes coming out and when I went to exchange it for the exact same thing with out a receipt I was told that I had to get the lowest sale price. Bottom line, they wanted me to pay an extra $30 for the exchange. I then noticed that the new rod I was going to get had the same problem (guides were loose). I came home with a Loomis instead. A month later I brought in an ad (not one of the catalogs) that I received in the mail from BPS. They had several items I wanted but some were marked and others not. I asked what was going on and was told that the prices were as marked. They would not match their own ad. >
  9. I like Trilene 100% Fluorocarbon. I wouldn't use anything heavier than 8lb on spinning gear. I had great luck with this line all last year and it slowly has become my favorite..
  10. I would like a Shimano Core that feels like my Calais. I would also like a G. Loomis GLX Senko baitcasing rod that is between 6'6'' and 7' with medium power.
  11. Yes but if the weather is like it is here in Indiana, they will be dead by Tuesday..... :D
  12. At first, I thought the guy was a loser. But after I read lyrics to this song and heard it performed at my kid's song recital, I too thought he was genius. http://www.seeklyrics.com/lyrics/The-White-Stripes/We-re-Going-To-Be-Friends.html
  13. Trilene 100% flourocarbon has become my favorite line. If you got a spool for $9, it was a steal.
  14. Loomis has to be my favorite........
  15. Check this out http://www.welikefishing.com/shop/reels/spin-cast-fishing/cat_37.html Maybe this will clear it up....
  16. I don't know about the rest of the country but here in Indy, gas went up today from $3.62 to $3.89. It makes no sense to me at all. I do remember reading that Rex Teillson of Exxon said that gas will stay high because it now cost 2/3 of the price to refine and deliver instead of 1/3 of it's cost as of 10 years ago. When I read this I thought, he's right. The oil companies will always be stealling from my pocket.
  17. Has anybody seen "Falling Down"? The guy at Subway sounds like he is on his way.
  18. The XR50 is my favorite lipless crank. I have tried several LC, Megabass, Rapapla, and of course the Rat-L-Trap but the XR50 has caught the most fish. I also like the Xrk75 One Knocker.
  19. Here is my $.02 on HD TVs.... About 7 years ago I use to sell TV's , audio, and such, part time. I am a little out of touch on some of the technology so take my opinion for what it's worth. I would pass on a 720p tv of any kind and I never cared for the plasma tvs (to much color shift over time). As far as brand goes, I like Sony. I have had mine for 4 years and have had one repair that was under warranty. Other than the one repair, my kids cause just about as much damage as you can get to this TV and looks as good as the day I bought it. You might check out the KDL-46XBR5 it looks amazing and a Sony Playstation 3. You can get the amazing blue-ray movies, games, store pictures, ect. on this thing. You can often find combos on sale that will save you a few bucks (Sony Playstation and a Sony TV). My neighbor fixes tv for a living and I asked what brands to avoid. He said to stay away from Vizio, Panasonic, Philips, HP, Dell and any off brand like Dynex or Insignia. As far as the HDMI cable goes, is there a difference between them?> Absolutely.... But the highest cost one is not always the best. I have been through 6 of them with my AT&T U-Verse box. It has do with the box itself not the cable just in case (compatability issue) but you can tell a difference between one cable to the next. AT&T reimbursed me for each cable. So I tried Monster Cables top of the line>no good, Dynex and Rocketfish both no good. I ended up using a Pure AV from Sams Club. It worked great and also looked the best. I have since used the other cables for other toys but the Pure AV still works the best. So much for that $150 Monster Cable. I do recommend the Monster Cable surge protectors though. As far as audio equipment to goes with the TV. It is up to your ears and don't the sales guys tell you any different. Everybody hears things differently. The best bang for the buck, IMHO, is the Onkyo HT-S990THX system. It is the best "All in one box" system I have heard yet. Also, what you here at the store is not what you will here at home and one brand I have always held in contempt is Bose. They are way over priced for what you get. Just my thoughts but I hope you enjoy whatever you get......
  20. 5in Senko Black with Blue Flakes.....
  21. One of my favorites is "The Name of the Rose". I read it at least once a year. Others I would consider.... Candide Cry the Beloved Country The Devil In the White City It
  22. I use a BCR 803GLX for most of my Senko fishing but for some heavy cover the MBR 844C would do nicely. It has a ton of muscle. I have cought several fish on this rod and it has never let me down. As for it's raw power, I caught a 42lb Carp on this rod yesterday (by acccident). It was just as about as much fun as you can get. I thought I had broke the state record but I was a 1lb short. The 844 had no problems handling this big fish at all. Just in case, I have no picks to back this up. Somebody remind me to buy a pocket digital camera.
  23. Storm Lures, Seagur Fluorocarbon (3 times now), Berkley Transition, Fireline Crystal and, not on my black list yet but close, Spiderwire InvisiBraid. Rods and Reels> BPS Johnny Morris Rod, Revo Premier, and a Quantum Tour Edition Baitcaster
  24. WOW and I thought my cat was a bad a$$ for taking down a squirrel.
  25. I also like using the coffee tubes. I have caught all sorts of fish on these things including LMB, SMB, carp, catfish, and crappie. I think Strike King has a winner on their hands.
