  1. I've seen them but can't remember where. I couldn't figure out why they cost so much. They didn't seem much different from other spinnerbaits. I tend to like Picasso, Megabass, War Eagle, Nichols, and especially OSP. With that said, the spinnerbait bite has started to disappear in my neck of the woods.
  2. I fished my Met 100 and 883C yesterday. I caught two nice keepers with a spinnerbait. It was a blast to fish. I hope you enjoy yours.
  3. I tried it years ago and it was bad. So it's a no for me.
  4. I have the 894 but not the 893. I love the 894. It is by far my favorite jig rod. The extra length has never bothered me on a kayak. If I had do it all over again, I might choose the 893 instead of the 853 simply because I like the 894 so much. If you can get the 893 new for $400, I'd jump on it.
  5. I have fished the X-bites and own the Daemos. Both these rods are not close to the sensitivity of the NRX+ rods. If I was buying a rod for sensitivity and just for jigs and worms, I would get the NRX+. But the best bang for the buck is a JDM X-bites. The downside would be no warranty. While the NRX has one the best rod warranties in the business. A few other things, I have the 853C and while it is a great rod, it tops out around 5/8 -3/4oz. The X-bites seemed a little stiffer but softer at the tip. It felt like it could handle a little more weight. It also has a more versatile taper. You could probably throw more than just jigs and worms on it.
  6. When my daughter went to Japan, she picked me up some stuff from Sansui. She said it was fun and intimidating but the staff was a big help.
  7. JDM Zillion HD. It has plenty of power and can handle bigger baits.
  8. I have been using TSI 321 on bearings and Bantam oil on everything else. I also use the BFS oil Shimano supplied with a reel. This stuff is good but can be short lived.
  9. I have a few and they're great. I really like the ones I have on my Daiwa spinning reels. I purchased the double handles and they really help balance them out.
  10. It's more like a beaver. There's not much action to it but the fish still hit it.
  11. So here is the Compact with a 3.5in Adrenaline Craw and the full size with 4in Adrenaline Bug. I usually don't throw black/blue with a green pumpkin jig but I couldn't find my packages of Bama Craw so hopefully you get the idea. Also, I usually cut the tip off just enough to get them to fit flush but didn't on these. To me you should be good with a 3.5in trailer. Also, the SK craws to me are really slick and have a hard time staying on anyway. Good trailers though.
  12. I have seen this too. I think this happens when a seller doesn't sell an item in the time they are given and are told to sell it at a lower price. Instead of relisting it under the same auction or buy it now, they open up a new one at a higher price under a different seller.
  13. Why not just keep the jigs you have and buy a smaller trailer? I like the 3.5in Xzone Adrenaline Craw and the OSP Dolive Beaver. Also, I think the Dirty Jigs Tour Level Pitching jig is the bigger version of the Compact.
  14. I buy new stuff mainly but I do have a few used gems I have bought over the years. In reels, I've got a Core 101MG, a Metanium MG7 Limited Edition, a Core 51, and a 2012 Antares. I also have a Megabass Evoluzion 30th Anniversary Edition Super Diablo II. I love all this stuff and use it regularly. The 2012 Antares has seen the most use but it's built like a tank. It probably last longer than me.
  15. This a good hook. Fish are going to jump unless you keep them pinned. Having a moderate to moderate fast rod and some line with a little give helps but it sometimes comes down to skill and technique. Even the best anglers have fish pop off.
  16. I would switch to mono or add a 2-3 foot 15-20lb leader to the braid you currently have to give it some cushion.
  17. I have several Edge boxes and they're great but I found I like the KastKing knockoffs better. The latch system just works better and they're cheaper.
  18. Here you go. I took it out and broke it in. I caught 11 (2 small keepers). It's an amazing rod. I will do a full review when I get more time with it.
  19. Daiwa gives an explanation here. https://daiwa.us/products/23-fuego-lt
  20. Same. It's been a recipe for diasater. I fish braid to leader on spinning gear and there have been times when I have been too lazy to tie a new leader on so I go straight braid and every time, eventually the line breaks. It has done it on lines from 832 to my favorite X-Braid.
  21. 12 to 15lb fluorocarbon for me. I do like braid to leader for some applications but not for bladed jigs and spinnerbaits.
  22. I fish from the bank and from a boat/kayak and thought about the Baby Plugging but I have found longer light spinning rods don't exactly load like you would think especially from a kayak. Also, the Baby Plugging seemed to be more designed for hard baits, hence the name Plug(ging) and I wanted something that would do it all but a light rod. I thought the length on the Whippet would be too short for long casts at first but so far I have been really surprised. I also considered the P5 Zangetsu and it's 7'7''. I got to toss one around and it will cast a mile (almost too far to control) but it loads in a weird way. I might get the NRX+ 902s in the future to fill that need but I am in no hurry. Let us know how you like the Baby Plugging. I am kind of curious since it was one I did consider.
  23. I would say on a max cast I'm maybe getting an extra 20 feet or more. Nothing mind blowing but it's definitely better. Like you said it's more about casting further with less effort. Also, the start up on the spool is smoother. It's been pretty hard to backlash. I always believe this kind of upgrade is subject to the reel and what your throwing so results will vary widely.
  24. I don't have the Baby Plugging but I do have the Whippet and it's pretty light. I throw a 1/16oz jig head and 3in Hazedong Shad on it and it's fine. It loads really well at the tip but has some power at mid section to the butt of the rod. It's a fun rod to fish.
  25. Unfortunately..... Confidence in a bait will catch more fish than data.
