  1. A man who sets out to work a kid and then stiff him on payday needs his teeth kicked in. just sayin'
  2. This is what I'm finding with the RES. Tennessee Shad and Gold/Black are my favorites and they seem to be the worst to chip. Once it starts, forget about it. If I'm casting to the bank, slow rolling, I like the Rat-L-Trap. If I'm stroking in deeper water, it's the RES.
  3. Seems like I remember using a formula that went like this: Length times Girth [squared] divided by 800. Berkley (or somebody) used to include a cloth "fish tape" when you bought some of their line.

  5. Well done Sir! Nice touch with the Beech Nut Coffee can btw
  6. It's been a warm rain with occasional thunder, state wide. You may be onto something Senile. My suggestion would be to throw that spinner bait like the guys are saying. Throw it where the warmer, clearer (?) inflow is entering the pond. If you find a distinct mudline, work it. Try working tight to cover too. Thats all I got. Good luck Senko!
  7. I can only speak for myself here. Haven't been out since the 15th, but here, in the western piedmont of NC, I have been catching fish (mostly spots w/ a few LM) anywhere from 1'-20'. Surface water temps (for what its worth) still in the 50's. Typical targets have been shallow/deep brush, bluff banks, docks. Lipless cranks and plastics works for me. Gonna try to get back out after Christmas. Good luck!
  8. You seem to be off to a pretty good start
  9. I used to throw a Little Cleo back in the day. Slayed the white bass. So many tactics, so little time.
  10. Thats great news. I'm a retired water works guy and have dealt with drought before....nothing to the extent that yall are having to live through. Surface waters and stream flow are the first to recover. Ground water table replenishment will take longer. Hopefully 2016 will be a wet one for you.
  11. Tom I sincerely hope that you guys out there start coming out of the terrible drought that has lingered for way too long. May you have a rainy, and snowy, winter thru spring!
  12. we'll need some bouncers. i submit to you, none other than the rock n roll express......a "few" years removed.
  13. i'm all in too. lets do this.
  14. tastes like chicken, i like it.
  15. I'm guessing that I was around 13 or so at the time. A friend and I was fishing off the bank at the state park. I was walking the rip-rap bank when I noticed the tail of a fish waving back and forth, just beneath the surface. It appeared that a crappie had gotten itself wedged, somehow, between the rocks. I reached down to pull the fish free but it would not budge. So I moved one of the rocks aside.....only to find that a rather sizeable water snake had it by the head. The fear that ran through me made me jelly legged scared. Needless to say, I got the helll outta there post haste.
  16. This guy put on quite a show several times throughout the day a couple of weeks ago while I was fishing Davidson Lake!
  17. Good thread. this what we have been finding recently. To follow up with what Catt posted, the deeper fish we've been marking are hard to catch. Being retired now, I am able to target those stable periods. I really enjoy and appreciate reading the posts on this site. I used to read the articles only, before joining the forums. I have the utmost respect for the writers (you know who you are) as well. Thank you all for having this site available for those of us who want to talk bass fishing with like- minded people. Keep doing what you do.
  18. The fish are still biting. We caught 10, mostly on docks today, mostly up around Hicks Creek. Water temps up slightly into the 57-59 degree range. Big fish was a 2 lb spot. Loving this weather!
  19. Best I could do
  20. We fished up Terrapin and points north three days last week. Bluff banks seemed to be working. Going back tomorrow, hopefully this little front passing through wont hurt them too much. Blue bird sky and light SW winds. Friday I took some pics of the eagle with my phone. Not real clear zoomed in.
  21. Brief cold snap gonna hit next weekend, temps gonna jump back into the 60's a couple of days later and stay there for Christmas. I've been finding surface water temps in the mid 50's here in the NC piedmont. Dont expect them to drop that much in the near future. Fishing has been decent, heck awesome, for mid December. Gotta sink some trees sometime!
