goal 2, check. annual boat cleaning/PM performed today with the exception of electrical connection maintenance and lower unit gear oil. emptied all lockers/storage compartments, vacuumed, washed, waxed and greased. broke a tie down strap, time for a new pair anyways.

started taking my kids when they were around 5-6 years old. my son took to it, my daughter, not so much. by the time my son was around 8 he could fish a t rig on a Zebco, detect bites and set the hook. needed help with knots and stuff but we did alot of fishing in those days. good times. we got our grandkids lifetme NC hunting/fishing licenses for their first birthday for around $180. my grandson turns 5 soon. i'd give anything for him to fall in love with it....even his little sister too.

i throw t rigs on a 6'6" M Shock and use 12lb Red Label fluoro. no problems.

my Gamakatsu EWG's are on sale, as is Seaguar Red Label fluoro, and the Red Eye Shad. but the 25% discount on ALL Zoom plastics is not available on line, bummer. i just dropped a $150 BPS gift card on plastics, hooks, and hard baits. gonna hit up Cabela's for my painted bullets though.

never compromise regarding hooks. for me, it's Gamakatsu.

thunder and lightning are deal breakers for me, although we have been caught by surprise, especially the storms that arrive in the AM, and before the days of the iphone. i did get caught in a storm that developed right on top of us, this past summer. never saw it on the radar til it was too late and had already bombed us. i've always maintained that a good fisherman should also be a good weatherman.

i can do with or without it. i rarely listen to music when i'm fishing alone. i have tuned in to some ncaa march madness, nascar, and college football while fishing. i have a friend that always has to have the radio or pandora on and we catch just as many fish, doesn't really seem to make any difference. what i do hate is a fricken cell phone. i know we have to have them but all i want to do is fish. i dont want to text, chat, tweet, talk, lol, or holla backatcha.......just fishing. fishing

i usually do a tackle inventory and restock. i still need to do some reel pm, install my new Garmin, sink a couple dozen trees, and clean/pm the boat and trailer. another three weeks or so and i'm gonna be back on 'em. not much time left.

looks like you're onto something. online at the bps site, it looks like abu garcia is offering rebates and free shipping on some of their reels. lews has some deals. we may have to wait til the day the actual sale begins to know for sure. i usually buy the bps painted bullets in bulk during this sale but i've switched to cabelas. bps paint chips away too easy for me. im really gonna load up on the Zoomies and Red Eye Shads though!

bummer that they dont have the usual 20% discount on all Gamakatsu hooks this year.
