  2. i use spike-it but there are others
  3. texas rigged with a 3/16 oz bullet and 3/0 hook on 12 lb fluoro. shallow, deep, rocks, stumps, brush, docks, you will catch fish. i've gone thru almost 20 packs of green pumpkin since late Feb. dip the tails in chartreuse if you dare.
  4. i bet that was so much fun. catching them like that will ruin a man! way to go.
  5. hi, my name is lo. i am a fishaholic.
  6. that is Hicks Creek and it is my favorite creek on the lake. but it gets absolutely beat to death and those fish can get lockjaw at times. one of those feast or famine deals.
  7. got the Pandora set on Merle Haggard Radio most of the time. they play alot of George Jones, Hank Williams and Willy Nelson too.
  8. i'm dragging a power worm thru all that brush in 20-25' fow with some 15 lb fluoro and a MH snatcher pole.
  9. you could try Roosevelt Wilson Park in Davidson. 420 Griffith St. take exit 30 off I 77 N or take hwy 115 N to Davidson and make a left at the light onto Griffith St. very close to you. Lake Norman State Park, about 45 minutes further north in Troutman, is an extremely cool place. it's massive and offers swimming, fishing, hiking, camping, and more. i fished there when i was young, and took my kids there too.
  10. sorry to hear about this. sometimes we cannot find the words to describe our sorrow. we nearly lost our daughter to a viral pneumonia in 2000. she was 14 at the time. the terror that swept over our family was indescribable. may God be with you and Sam's family during this time of sorrow.
  11. agree late winter, spring i will dip a gp lizard tail about a full inch. as the spring evolves into summer it's a half inch or less depending on water clarity, and my plastics then include gp worms (shakey tails, u tails) and power worms. my favorite deep water (20-30'), summer combo is a black bullet, gp worm and a little dip for the tail. i have also experimented with white ice flukes by adding small ticks of chartreuse to the tail but the jury is still out on that one.
  12. i think it's maybe 5 years old?
  13. i have a canean. it's an ok reel but i had to remove the AR Pawl after the first year. it still works but it doesnt see much action these days.
  14. i have a wright & mcgill tessera jig/worm rod. best casting rod that i own and have had no durability issues.
  15. the weather can make you or break you in several ways. thus, a good fisherman should be able to both plan and adjust for it....at the very least, be aware of daily conditions and current trends. same thing goes for the bite. knowing the body of water is key to any game plan. i am a planner. my cousin is a wing it guy. we are both hard headed and sometimes we clash but somehow we manage to put some in the boat. go figure.
  16. it is Friday the 13th and it's the only one we have this year
  17. aint heard it called "mud meat" in a long time.
  18. choot 'em!
  19. secondary points with some structure can be killer, and deep ends of docks (if they're present), and humps too, humps with wind. not all those places will be holding fish but many do. a little chop always seems to help.
  20. yep big thumper spinner bait, black/gold blade big ol black worm, maybe some chartreuse on the tail mega strike and stout line. i've even seen noisey top waters (chuggers) work on High Rock Lake, early and late, and that place can turn into a mud hole target anything you see and any brush you can feel. those fat girls dont pass up many meals. catch one for me.
  21. i used Trilene XL for many years. Super Silver Thread before that.
  22. good stuff guilty as charged
