  1. That thing sure has a tiny looking mouth. It could be some other kind of bass. I'd be willing to bet somebody on here will know what kind.
  2. Spots have a patch too
  3. Did your fish have a patch on it's tongue?
  4. Hit the water around 8 this morning. 57 degrees and rain. Fished in the rain for most of the day and caught 3 bass. Just could'nt seem to get things going today. Maybe next time.

  9. Mooresville in the house. Welcome
  10. Dont forget to take the tme to try and locate some activity on your fish finder. It could be the difference between a good day and a bad one. Creeks and coves are usually good places to begin. Start at the first point and work your way back, watching your screen. If you come across bait balls, or schools of anything, start fishing. The whole place may be good or you'll hit good areas within there. If the wind is blowing pretty good, I like rat-l-traps. I also like my t-rigs for a slower falling, swimming plastic, as the wind allows.
  11. http://www.charlotteobserver.com/news/local/community/lake-norman-mooresville/article40947165.html I came across this article regarding the wake issues on Lake Norman. Hope the link works.
  12. Kinda had the same type of day myself. It took me a couple of hours to locate something, anything on the fish finder. Got to be darn frustrating too. But when I did, the bites came. Started fishing main lake structure, nothing. Ventured back into a creek, boom, there they were. Firshed 2 more creeks, 5 spots, 2 LM, throwing rat-l-traps and t-rigs at secondary points and shallow cover. I had been catching a few back there but most of the fish had been on the main lake structure. Water temps have dropped to near 66, from 70. Maybe that triggered the mass exodus, I dont know? Felt good to crack the code.....this time.
  13. Yes. Come to think of it, there are some creek arms with plenty of fishable water that snake along up around the state park. They have a boat ramp too. That is Hicks Creek and it always seems to have bait. You can avoid most of the boat traffic back in places like that. Avoiding weekends is a good call too, unless you get on and off the water by 10:30 or so. No Wake bouys are in just about every cove but I recently read an article in the Charlotte paper which stated that over 50 of them were illegal. Some people abide, others dont, or wont. That place can get bad at times during the summer. Be safe and dont catch them all!
  14. I have two carbonlite reels, a gold and a black. Cant beat 'em for the money.
  15. I like fall afternoons myself but I've caught some good fish early.
  16. Lake Norman State Park near Troutman has a public fishing access area. I think the gates open at 8am and close at dark(?) It's been a while since I've been there but you used to be able to walk the trails and fish from the bank. If you do decide to go the kayak route, be aware of pleasure boaters and their wake. Late fall, winter, and early spring would suit you well in that regard. Better yet, Davidson Lake would be better suited for small craft. There is an access on the Davidson side of the lake. Green pumpkin plastics will get you plenty of bites on either body of water. There are a couple of kayak guys on this site that could give you a better feel for our home lake. Welcome to my neck of the woods brother. Hope you like spotted bass!
  17. Retired from city water authority since 2010. Working with a buddy now, doing carpentry for cash and fishing my butt off.
  18. Been there done that. Hope all results come back clean brother.
  19. Not really, we just go fishing, mostly soft plastics. Sometime we do run into some lm every now and then but the spot to lm ratio on Norman is high. I did catch a 3 pound lm the other day. I will say the lm that we do catch are usually decent fish. Getting ready to head back out in a few, maybe we'll hook into some today!
  20. Went out on Norman for a few hours this afternoon. Caught 6 spots, 5 of them were decent with the best one right at 2.5 lbs. Water temps still hanging around 69 degrees with a light wind, bluebird sky. Nothing shallow, caught everything off the deep ends of docks in 15-20' of water. We fished up above 150 bridge today, gonna head down towards Davidson creek tomorrow.
