  1. I have a 692 which I use for ned rigs and stream trout fishing. If you are around any kind of weeds at all it is not the rod to have. Gary made a video about 2 vs 3 power on YouTube. He said that 3 power would be better if you need to drive the hook through the plastic.
  2. I agree with DVT, for a freshwater fisherman the Citica I and Curado I were identical.
  3. Lol I’m not a fan of that reel, but I understand why some people are.
  4. I didn't realize this rod had such a light tip section. What reel do you pair it with?
  5. This isn’t really a finesse rod In my opinion, it’s a M-MH. I have seen a lot of BR members recommend it though. What do you throw in it? I was talking about a rod for shakey heads and ned rigs, maybe senkos. Something to replace a spinning rod.
  6. I didn’t know they made an AGS one. I don’t have the cash rn as there are other upgrades I want to do to my lineup first, namely my frog rod. I don’t see that rod on TW, could you post a link? I agree about hating spinning gear lol. It takes a lot of the fun out of fishing for me. There is something about nicer equipment that makes fishing a lot more fun though.
  7. 72MH expride if you can find it. I would definitely get a softer rod for top water though.
  8. If I was gonna go spinning(for a nicer rod then my sierra 692), it would probably be a 7M expride, GLX 842,or Orochi XX shaky head. If I was gonna go spinning(for a nicer rod then my sierra 692), it would probably be a 7M expride, GLX 842,or Orochi XX shaky head.
  9. What’s so fun about the fly’s said? It’s really long right?
  10. What spinning rods do you use? I would say that you outfished your partner because you are a better angler, not because of the rods. The combos are really just for fun IMO, bass can be caught on an ugly stick. The biggest fish I’ve ever caught was a king salmon, on a9 weight ugly stick(sensitivity matters less for that type of fishing though IMO). What blanks did you have your custom casting rods built on? Also, I’m assuming you use that splash it model you mentioned earlier for topwater?
  11. I also find that hard to believe.
  12. I forgot the mention the GLX 852C JWR in the original post.
  13. Are there GLX MBR spinning rods? Personally I don’t like the feel of the e6x for the price, but I have never actually used one.
  14. A 7 medium expride could do all those things, as could a destroyer shakey head. Do you have any recommendations?
  15. Maybe I should just get a spinning rod then.
  16. What did you need the spinning reel for?
  17. Yea I agree, a light Texas rig or shakey head would be better. When I was wanting to learn the Ned I only took neds to the lake, and fished them around weeds because the spots looked good and I didn’t have other baits. It it turns out that the ned isn’t that hard to fish lol.
  18. I agree, I do need to work on that, but I feel like if I use any amount of drag in the fight the hook gets bent, and I need at least a little drag to keep the fish out of weedy areas.
  19. How many Mets do you have? I know you use basically all Mets haha but I am just trying to gauge how common the issue is.
  20. I’ve also had a hook just snap after a few fish catches, even with a very light drag.
  21. I have bent out or broken a bunch of the Z man jig heads. I understand that my drag is too tight, but I like being able to crank a hook set, and need to find some stouter hooks so I don’t keep bending them out in the middle of a fight.
  22. This is something I am going to mull over for a while, as I am still building my frog setup, but how do these 2 sticks compare in terms of balance, sensitivity, and action? I am looking to do away with spinning gear and throw shakey heads, ned rigs, tubes, open water senkos, and tiny jigs on the rod. I have read that a lof of guys love the 852 for its versatility, but I am concerned about the balance. I have read tackletour reviews stating that the balancing torque on the 842MBR and the 852JWR is the same, but that NRX review was in 2012, and I don’t know if the rod is still the same. If I remember correctly, the newer iterations of the NRX are actually more tip heavy, according to something I read either in here or on tackletour forums.
  23. I just picked up a DC. Overall it is a nice reel, but I'm not wowed by the casting distance like I expected to be. I feel like I am maybe only getting 10 feet over the K, but I have only used it twice. IMO it is worth the price, and it is very refined, but may not be worth the hype over the cheaper, cooler looking, and more ergonomic K, at least not in terms of performance. Time could prove me wrong though.
  24. Will do! I’m not sure when I will actually get it, but I have one coming. I also haven’t really found any reviews.
